A little penetrating oil and a couple pipe wrenches. Or, heat up the outside of the handle where it screws on a little and a couple pipe wrenches. Maybe tap on it to break the corrosion free, then penetrating oil.

Exactly. It's old, unoriginal and most of the time doesn't make sense or apply. Society is equally as mentally lazy as they are physically.

Adding “gate” to the end of a situation Immediately tags it as a behind the scenes, subversive, coverup type situation ala the original watergate scandal. It probably gets overused, but it is a well recognized phrasing.

While that's annoying I assume you're talking about Oceangate. OceanGate LLC is actually the name of the company operating the lost submersible.

Not having a location in your profile and then posting......
Something for sale, something for free or looking for something to buy.
The best is looking for a local shop or dealership and you don't even have your location.

OK. Now you've got me started. The prefix Euro and Ameri have pretty much run their course but for a while those two were attached to the strangest words. Pre-registration is another one that gets me. Lastly the improper use of literally and ironically.

The Woman turning off the AC in the morning because she's "cold" and turning on the heat despite the house being at the pre-set 69F and the AC not actually running (because the house is at the pre-set temp). Then two hours later, turning the AC on because the sun has come up and the house is 75 and now she's too hot. Then she bitches the tempurature fluctuates too much and she wants the Nest thermostat back, completely ignoring the fact that we got rid of the Nest because it would swing the house temps all over the place...

    Leave. The. Thermostat. Alone.

I work IT on a global level.
Found that some new technology is causing us random issues because we do not use it yet. (IPv6 for those who are interested)
I put in a request to disable it on all windows PCs as a policy and all but one manager agrees. His reasoning? He doesn't know if we're using it or not. I'm the global network guru for the group, we do not address anything with IPv6, he's denying the change because frankly he doesn't understand what I'm talking about. Why do I have to ask permission from someone who doesn't have the background or training to understand what I'm talking about on a basic level?

You just described my life and a question I've asked upper management 1000 times.
And I work in a completely different field.
Middle management could be completely eliminated from 99.9% of every industry and it wouldn't affect a single thing. Other than payroll.

Damn. That must be aggravating. I've been in the field (app dev) 20+ years, and I've been fortunate enough to not really have to deal with this. I submit change requests a few times a week, and really only get delayed if I don't have enough info/justification for the request, or when waiting for business approval. The latter of which can get annoying when people want something fixed, but can't seem to respond to an approval request.

Edit: Bad edit. I had started typing about a the worst manager I had to work with before the post I actually wrote above, but his blocking didn't amount to the same thing. So I just removed it as I thought I edited it out originally.

People that are called, or call themselves "experts" on things that don't exist.
On the surface, I mock them and think it's funny. If I really think about it, it's annoying.
If I really, really think about it,....I start mentally working out ways to lower the human population.
