I'm not that hairy... I just dislike hair so I probably spend more time in the shower shaving then actually washing my hair or body:rofl:

Taylor of Old Bond Street is the best! I'm partial to Sandalwood, but will change it up every once in a while. I have been using Feather blades almost exclusively since I switched to a safety razor about 10 years ago.

Badger hair brush, muhler safety razor and feather blades. I use the Astra as a beginner blade and they are good but if you have a thick beard feather blades are down right awesome, just practice a lot before using them.
Currently using Mitchell's wool fat shaving soap, does a good job. Also a pre shave oil helps soften the hairs a lot.

Let’s see if we can revive this thread. I shave about once a week during COVID times, but when I shave I use my 1955 Gillette safety razor paired with an astra superior stainless. The edge works best with my face and I’ve tried a whole bunch. Feathers are just insanely sharp and require too much attention when shaving. Use standard barbasol cream and follow up with an alum block pass and witch hazel. 3 directions for standard shave; 4 or 5 if going to a wedding or special event. Like to think I get pretty good results. Definitely another hobby you can go crazy with if you want to

I’ve been using old 1950’s Gillette safety razors for 10 years or so. My first was my grandfathers and I have acquired more. Definitely cheaper than buying newer razors and I like the ritual of it. And yes, some of the blades are danger sharp. May have been “Feather” that I tried and thought I cut my jugular. Can’t remember as I haven’t used one since. I like the Astra’s as well.

I've grown a beard since the last time I posted in this thread. But re-reading what I wrote, I stand by Barbasol Non-Aerosol as the best shaving cream I've ever used. Though I've abandoned the Gillette Fusion for the Schick Hydro 5. It gives the same quality shave without the extortionist Gillette pricing. As I still shave a beard line on my cheeks and neck, I still do shave, but it's a much quicker affair.

Used a Gillette safety razor for 2 decades and had a whole collection.
    Taylor’s sandalwood was bomb.
Moved to Proraso cream and aftershave. Still use it. But due to a lot of traveling one year , and I never check luggage, I got flack for the razor blades. I ended up on a whim getting the Dollar Shave club subscription and still use it to this day.
Still use a badger brush, cream, and after shave, 3 pass shave. Just no more safety razor.
I actually learned about safety razors from guys at the firehouse. My dad wasn’t really around growing up and YouTube didn’t exist. I had been shaving wrong well into my 30’s with terrible razor rash, bloody neck, horrible ingrown hairs and related acne until some guys (and the art of manliness) showed me the way. Already showing my boys so they don’t suffer like I did.
