    Sorry for the hijack OP...

To swing it back on topic. When we were in Williams AZ eating breakfast we saw a ranch hand walk into a hardware store, buy a box of nails and go back to this truck. He had a Peacemaker strapped to his side. Open carry all the way. At first I thought he might be part of a wild west show. He was no show!

If I could, think AZ would be the place I'd be.

Of the places you mentioned, Bend or Vancouver sound like the best fit. Vancouver due to the job situation, and you can live near Portland without having to live in Portland. Bend is cool if you would have a solid job there. Winters are cold AF, summers are nice. Lots to do as far as outdoor recreation. The only thing that scares me about Oregon, is it is turning into a liberal cesspool. All the votes are in the highly populated areas, which means if you vote red good luck. Seems like they are able to pass every stupid law, no matter how ridiculous it is. Idaho and Montana are looking better and better, but not sure if I could move.

The OP states he doesn't want to be disarmed. Washington, Oregon, and California don't fit his requirements.

I'm seeing the same thing happening down in AZ.. almost a purple state already and didn't take too long either. Still a go to state due to tough sheriff's who won't enforce any goofy gun laws like here in CO.

I grew up in SE Alaska and then went to college in Prescott AZ. As I was reading your post, Prescott checked off alot of your boxes. It's 1.5hr North from Phoenix and 1.5hr south of Flagstaff. If it wasn't for Toyota giving me a job in Michigan I'd probably work for Ruger engineering in Prescott.
And further if there jobs for me in Alaska, I'd be there haha! Good luck, keep us updated!

You are right. Way too many people moving to Western NC. I know the mountains are beautiful but dang it give us locals our town back. Traffic is awful around Asheville now.

Oregon seems to be trying to catch up and pass California in regards to 2A infringement. Check before you go there. They are currently working on a law that would limit how much ammo a person can buy.

New Mexico might not be a bad choice for you either, this place is full of hidden gems. As long as you stay out of Santa Fe the cost of living here is ridiculously cheap. Start looking into it....and if you have questions about particular areas let me know.

If you want to be close to the mountain and also close to the city, check out Sandy, OR. It's growing a lot but still has a smaller town feel, plus property is much cheaper than Portland. As others have said, Oregon (mainly Portland) is very very liberal, but Sandy is much more conservative if that matters.

I have lived in the San Diego area since 93'.Used to be a conservative Military town. Unfortunately the governance has destroyed this state. High taxes, welfare state, very expensive worst gun laws Avoid at all cost. Arizona is nice, family in Yuma Phx. Personally, I'd look at Idaho.God willing, I should be there next year.

If I'm not mistaken there are decent constitutional abiding sheriffs in many WA counties not enforcing the new gun "laws". Same in eastern Oregon.

Yea, I was just with my White Salmon WA buddy last night. He was saying how his local Sherrif released a bunch of pro-gun facts and how the high cap mag ban is ridiculous. The rural county Sherrifs think it’s horse shit. Which is good.

Same situation here in CO. The state hasn't completely gone down the shitter yet although the new powers that be recently decided to adopt Kali's smog regs for new vehicles sold here. Not sure when that actually starts but the estimated cost increase per vehicle is estimated to be $2K to $3K. A coworker's brother lives in Cheyenne and that is supposed to be a decent place to consider.

Tucson has grown a lot in recent years (something like the 33rd largest city in the US), but still has more of a small town feel than most places about the same size. Yes, we have brutal summers, but not as bad as the Phoenix area. The base of Mt Lemmon is 15 minutes from my door and has the most southern ski lift in the US. I have a couple of lakes to fish at less than 2 hours away. Cost of living is fairly low and the job market is growing with several companies relocating their corporate headquarters here recently.

As far as being 2A friendly, it's Arizona, you can open or conceal carry without the need for a permit and there are plenty of areas to shoot close by.

My compadre just bought a second home in the Tucson area ~ they love it there. They just left SoCal the middle of last week and arrived in Tucson just in time to see some snow on the ground.
I didn't think I'd live long enough to see snow there but he sent me these pics as proof. One day I hope to visit Tucson and see the sights there.

Any link to info on these new requirements? Asking because Tundras are sold with "50 state emissions" package standard. Any vehicle manufactured in the U.S. (or for "U.S car manufacturers"). So really, the effects of changes to any state law should be negligible at this point-? :notsure:

So... the current platform of Tundras will no longer be sold in CO (or California). Looks like it doesn't address what will happen eventually with out existing fleet. I bought a Tundra to last forever (and I pay premium registration fees for it, that's for sure). I'm hoping not to face specific legislation outlawing use of older vehicles.

This isn't a done deal yet but even then new pickups might be exempt or may have to meet a lesser standard. I'm not losing sleep over it. There is already a lot of push back and then there is Wyoming or back to AK.
