Evacuations start tomorrow. The problem is....where to evacuate to? I grabbed one of the last remaining hotel rooms earlier, on the west coast of Florida. That was when the track was trending east. Now its back west some going straight up the state. So where the he'll do we go? There arent any available hotel rooms from central florida up through Georgia.

Good luck O.P. hopefully you can get outta there in time. I know what it's like getting orders to evacuate. When I was stationed at Kadena in Okinawa we had a typhoon roll thru. Had orders to evacuate but I ended up having to stay and ride it out then go make sure who ever didn't get out in time was taken to a safe place. It was pretty crazy. Hopefully you don't have to be one of those guys!! I guess that's what CE does when contingency comes into effect. Best of luck and prayers sent!!

When I was in grade school, late 70's, the climate was supposed to be getting colder. We were told an ice age was coming, and we'd be completely out of oil by 2000. Then it was global warming. The oceans were supposed to be 10 feet higher by now. When that didn't happen, climate change, aka weather. We've been keeping accurate weather records for how long? Couple hundred years tops. How long has earth been around? I don't believe a whole lot of stuff the gov tells us. I'm a gov employee and higher ups change numbers all the time to skew stats to fit a specific agenda. Then the public is fed a bunch of bullshit "through official channels".
That's just my specific line of work. I'm willing to bet it's in many others too.
As far as this storm goes I hope you make it through ok.

I'm currently in Maryland but headed back to SC tomorrow

Guard units around the southeast have been activated already and are starting to report this weekend

There's still too many questions about the track to really figure out where people need to go

Interstates as far as SC are packed with FL vehicles looking for places to stay

The governor of SC announced today that a decision on evacuation will occur by Sat at 10AM

I lived thru Hurricane Hugo which followed a very similar track and made that hard turn just prior to Cuba and slammed into McClellanville SC as a Cat 3 wreaking all kinds of havoc. I live 100 miles from the coast give or take and in 89 during Hugo, we were without power for 2 weeks and major destruction even as far inland as where I live...until this storm turns or makes a decision I'm on edge. Honestly I am hoping for a more eastern turn to push the NE quadrant and eyewall offshore...and hopefully push Jose out to sea instead of it continuing its path toward the US

I would gladly offer to take any any members leaving their home, but unfortunately I only have a 1 bedroom apartment that is already small with me and the dog. I will offer storage for anyone who ends up in Columbia, SC with all of their belongings because I do have a garage, and I also have a large gun safe.

PM me if storage is needed for any personal belongings while evacuating to SC

Thank you sir. Man does affect the environment that should be obvious to the casual observer. Climate change has been going on for billions of years. How much has mans footprint affected the climate is the question. My answer is " I don't know" and I guarantee you nobody else does either unless they can go back and take man out of the mix. I do guarantee you that it has been politicized and no matter what the weather it will continue to be politicized. All I can do is what I think is best for the environment.

Actually it's quite easy to take man out of the mix and come up with reasonable historical core sample data that is not cherry picked to "prove" a so called "settled" climate change.. Nothing about science is ever settled especially if you need $$$$ to prove a false narrative that ignores true science to perpetuate that false narrative...IE...Junk science... Polar Bear population is rising..Who knew?? Mother nature always wins in the end. Obviously the mere fact that there are billions of us here will pollute...of course.. Global warming...meh....now...Global cooling..meh.... "let's call it climate change" to keep the big $$$ flowing.....One major volcanic event can change everything in a heartbeat.....Let me go check my

"Mother Nature" controls the reset button. Not humans...I'm all for living the green life but isn't it pointless if China and India...the biggest polluters...get a pass????
