I mean, Toyota grounded every fourth Tundra and Sequoia for a bad rack replacement. They didn't have all the parts available momentarily, so a lot of new trucks sat on dealer's lot and could not be sold even when there were willing customers.

Just trying to come up with a feasible explanation how it is possible to buy a brand new old truck :)

Quite often new vehicles are damaged or wrecked during transit. That could be what happened here and it may have taken time to repair due to parts shortages, etc. Yes, they are wrecked or damaged, repaired, and sold as new. Happens more than one might think. Not saying you don't have a nice truck, just explaining a possibility. Enjoy it OP!

A TRD too? Wow you got a great deal, congratulation. I paid OTD nearly the same for a 1 owner 2018 4x4 SR5 with XP (tack on items and wheels from SE Toyota Distributor) with 32,500 miles on it.

They guy only drove 6,000 miles a year and had quite a bit of maintenance done on it at the Toyota dealer. It is like a new truck still.

It is possible and it did cross my mind. I asked and I was told that it wasn't the case. CarFax looked clean as well. Is it possible a dealer to keep something like this under the wraps? Aren't they legally required to disclose an event like that to the buyers? This dealer did a multi point detailed inspection and made that report available to me before the buy. All clean. But anything it is possible and who knows few months down the road, or during maintenance I may learn of some previous damage, everything is possible I agree.

Even if it was slightly damaged and repaired yet has full coverage warranty on it, I would of still bought it at that price. I wouldn't even worry about it. Likely never happened anyway just right place and the right time for you.

Awesome find. There was a dealership that had a mass catalytic converter theft occur one night and they couldn't sell many of the vehicles due to backordered cats. I'm guessing some type of part backlog was the cause, but if it is fixed and no problems, who cares, win for you.

I think you got an awesome deal, just jealous I didn't find it first.;)

I'm stunned that a Dealer sold a Toyota below Sticker Price. I'm going to call Guinness to report your Selling dealer as the first to sell a Toyota below Sticker price in the last 2 years.

I'm not a lawyer, however when it was transferred around different places the truth could have been "conveniently lost", and could be difficult to assign blame or prove. Personally, I wouldn't be to concerned about it if nothing really stands out. Just pointing out a possibility, nothing more. The steering rack and or catalytic converters mentioned above are also realistic possibilities. Just be thrilled you have a decent truck for a decent price.

    OP,

If you're happy with the sale and your truck, walk away from this forum. It will "what if" you to the point of ditching your new truck.

Walk away and ignore the echo box noise here.

Just enjoy your new truck on your own.

SOLID advise Sir. Honestly I got over the "what ifs" the moment I made this post. Some things just can't be explained such a pure luck.

I am still pinching myself still not believing this is real, so I am enjoying the shit outta of it. I have so many projects lined up for this baby :)

So true. I told my wife I saved $30K for not buying a $75K 3rd Gen truck, so I think I have about $10-15K to play around for mods now :)

I think some people stole it in CA and it was used as a "Soup Kitchen" for a year. Then they used a mean green cleaner on the interior and auctioned it off...

Just imagine the return on investment if you park it and maintain it then put it on BaT in 10 years.

I almost lost my coffee with that "The Other Guys" movie reference. Here is where it came from and although this happened to his Prius, maybe the Tundra came from the same area. LOL

I don't think anyone is "what if'ing" the purchase......it is just so rare and has a history that raises some questions is all. It's a great truck at a great price and as long as everything checks out and the warranty is good, it's an amazing find. I think mostly we are just jealous.

It looks like the dealer use it to sell some higher trim, TRD off-road is basically a base SR5 with better headlights and shocks.
