So, that was an overview of what’s there, yeah? Other than an opportunity to soak my truck in saltwater, I didn’t see more on offer than Superstition-? :notsure:

I’ve never had to cross any water. There are more than one road to the dunes. It’s a choice if you take that route through the water. I stay out of the saltwater all together. That video was pretty rowdy. It can get that way in the summer. Not so terrible when we’ll be there.

Pismo sand is like the deepest sand at superstition, but everywhere. The big bonus is having the ocean right there. Camp close enough to the water that you can hear it at night, but not so close that high tide will get ya!

What is going on with the front end? Can’t say I’ve ever seen a cr500 with a wider set front end like that. Way cool!

Mark Harms from Sand Tires Unlimited had it built. The triples were custom made so it could use the stock CR500 suspension. Mitchell Wheels, before Douglas bought them out, made the custom wheel and brake assembly so again you could run the stock CR stuff. It had an 6" extended swingarm. Mark made 6 of them and I bought one of them from one of the original 6. I had it for probably 5 years.

Now for a real plot twist. I sold it to the son of the creator of Mitchell Wheels :bikewhoops:

I rode my bike up Blowsand Canyon and then down Buttes Pass by the Slot this past weekend, one of my favorite rides in the park. I've never hiked the Slot though, it's a fee area now to park at the top and there was a ranger in a car watching.
