    Oh, yeah, full-on s:censored:t-talking!

That’s the reason I go, so all the s:censored:t talk is about you guys that don’t go, instead of about me... although... my being present usually provides more fodder for
    s:censored:t talk (it’s a viscous cycle ).

Howdy, SoCal buddies with mechanical experience... gonna duplicate post this here in case one of you can guide me to next steps (and answer my airbag safety question):

    HELP NEEDED:
Well, damn. I see I’ve missed some drama, not staying current in here. As has been previously established and I readily admit, there’s a lot I don’t know. But I’ve committed to a course of learning by doing— and I don’t want to get hurt, so I’ll ask and hope y’all will guide me.

After a previous false start— wishing I could find instructions about how to pull off the dash (still haven’t)— I think I’ve finally gathered all the assorted pieces I’ll need to install a ham, and so today I’m finally pulling apart the dash. Proof of progress:

The last fasteners I can see that may need removal (?) are these, the upper glove box surround:

Can any of you confirm, or direct me?

    Question 2 (Safety concern):
Is there anything I need to know to avoid screwing up airbags???

Battery has been disconnected. A neighbor suggested I turn accessories to on position and pump brakes... I considered he might be playing with me but he said that might discharge any stored charge, so I’m game... any other directions or warnings you can give me will be appreciated!

Your airbags should be fine as long as you don’t install a Victory 4x4 roof rack.

    Dude! We’re you off pandemicking?!

Last year we discovered that Victory’s helpful how to install roof rack video was as likely to point you to drilling through your curtain airbags as not. A member on here took his truck into the dealership for inspection and found damage. Big broohhaha, lawsuits, video taken down and replaced with a new one.

Yeah, nothing to do with my passenger side dash airbag. Joon just funny!

Basically, they said drilling into the roof was in a “safe zone” in their install video. But a bunch of people ended up puncturing their side airbags. Probably a whole lot of people out there with a punctured airbag that doesn’t know it. They also refused to do anything about it other than editing their install video and praying that the problem would just go away.

I do remember reading this post, im just mentally broken and was not sure if this was the issue. I've stay kinda away from roof racks because of that post... I've also been leaning more towards the spider no drill but it is extremely pricey.

I just saw your truck. I don’t think pricey is a problem you can’t overcome. :boink:

... just get your wife to help pack the truck next time you do a family trip so she can see you need a roof rack.

Just remember to pull the front side of the tail lights outwards. And don’t use a metal screwdriver and break off a piece of the plastic like some dumb shit that I know did. Small locking pliers help tremendously. How long it take to reel in the tunas? Where’s were you?

Small locking pliers for the stiffener install, not the light removal. :D

Seriously, took me longer to fish out the pliers with a coat hanger and duct tape than the entire install. It was ridiculous.

I have a baja designs fog light kit. FREE to who ever wants these pieces. I am in the Redlands, CA area. It is missing the wire harness, but you can wire into your wiring. I used on my 18 Tundra. I will not deliver.

The Toyota Tacoma (12-Current) / 4Runner (10 - Current) / Tundra (14 - Current) Fog Pocket Kit allows you to mount 2 Squadron Series auxiliary lights in the factory location. This Plug and Play kit includes two vehicle specific mounting brackets and a wiring adapter, allowing you to use your factory switch and mounting hardware.
