Can you give a little info on how this would be installed please? I see you plate has threaded inserts, but do you also need the original bolts? Sorry, I am having a senior moment...
    Thanks

I am going to double check and make sure my wife is on the same page, but we are including 4” long 3/8-16 bolts like what comes with our plates already.

Something I forgot to add to the website…

Do not use an impact on the nut plate.

Now, I have done testing with my big boy 1400 ft pound millwaukee. After pounding on it a while I was able to get the riv nuts to spin in the holes. I was still able to reverse the impact and get them out.

I also have put a 3’ cheater bar on them and put all the pull I had in me on it. I actually twisted my Allen socket.

That being said, I’m sure someone could ruin it if they really tried. It should be plenty strong for the application.

Although I got mine elsewhere, that nut plate is a Godsend even on my 2WD with a TRD skid plate...
I didn't even put the TRD plate wedges back in...:eek2:

This is my To do list... before the end of the year.... I hope. Things are starting to move along though. I got a ton of new machinery last year, and that really slowed me down on the design side of things. I almost need a CAD Monkey to do some of the easier work.

Stuff I need to finish first!

    4 Runner Transfer Case Skid
    Tacoma Transfer Case skid
    Lexus 460 Transfer Case skid
    F-250 Transfer Case skid

Stuff I want to do immediately after
Bronco 2 door Gas tank skid
    F-150 Gas tank skid
    Tundra Gas tank skid
    4 Runner Gas tank skid
    Tacoma Gas tank skid.

Stuff, I really want to do, and if it get shiny enough, it might happen in no particular order at all.

    Ranger Full skid package
    Chevy 1500 Full skid package
    Colorado Full skid package

Then I wanna start looking at bed racks, steps and rock sliders, other stuff.

    I also wanted to add.

Making it for our bronco first.... gave us a TON of good info about how to design it for the Tundra.

I might do my F150 before the tundra, just because it lets me beat on it, and figure out how to make it better for the Tundra.

Nobody cares if you beat a ford.... but if you hurt a Toyota that is a tragedy! :p

If you develop a gas tank skid for the first generation Tundras, I'm sure there'd be a few of us that would happily buy it (myself included). I'm only aware of one company off the top of my head that makes one and they're in Canada.

Mine did and they work nicely! I think my only "complaint" is that it's the only non-metric set of bolts on the whole truck, lol.

Mine was an awkward arrangement because I hurt my back and it was -30F all winter here, so I started off with adding my cat shields with the standard offroad 'skidplate' that didn't touch, but then later added the TRD skidplate mid-winter but couldn't get the cat shields to play nicely with them, said "eff this" and ran the TRD skidplate for 6 months/all winter without the rear bolts attached there, with it just sitting on top of the cat shields and the bolts holding them up. Then I dropped the skidplate, cat shields, cut the cat shields a little to accommodate the TRD skidplate, and reinstalled everything using the new nut plate here. It was a disorganized mess, don't be like me, plan ahead with all your parts in hand to do it once, lol.

Was this confirmed? I just didn't see mention of hardware on the page for the nut plate retainer.

    We are updating the description.

First sets already has shipped! Also, it seems that the Tundra 3rd gen front plates are popular

Going to try to tackle this tomorrow. Where exactly does the nut plate sit relative to the TRD skid - above, below, sandwiched? There are no instructions for this plate install...

I need a new fuel tank skid plate and pondering a cat shield. 99% sure I’d order a full skid plate package with the fuel tank if/when you get it bundled. Just saying…take my money!

Put these on this morning. Install was straight forward, good fitment, and the TRD nut plate is an infinitely better design than the OEM fasteners. Getting the TRD skid rear bolt out was such a pain in the ass. Happy to finally be protected.

Did you leave the TRD Wedges and the Tubes that go into the cross member in place or remove them and just used the new plate?

Reused the bolt sleeve and wedges and put the nut plate on top. I'm not really sure the bolt sleeve is necessary and mine were pretty chewed up from when Toyota "fixed" the skid plate squeaking.

Any issues getting the sleeves out? Did you have to drop the TRD plate 100% or just take the back bolts out?

Only need to pull the rear two bolts, but the sleeves are a pain in the ass. You need to grab the sleeve as you pull the bolt or it will drop into the crossmember and you’ll spend 15mins fishing it out like I did. The sleeve needs to slide UP out of the crossmember as it won’t drop through the skid plate hole. Either push the skid plate down and grab the sleeve or try to grab it from the top before you pull the bolt.

Also the lock washers under the nut basically have to be threaded off - that was really my biggest headache as they were pretty much level with the hole in the crossmember. I was able to grab them with a vise grip and unscrew.

I assume you guys are taking the plates back off to get your arms in for the TRD skid plate. Then install the cat plate protector back on?

BECE32C6-7B70-46A3-A01A-F577D61461CF.jpg Did a few small tweaks on the front skid plate.

I am pretty sure this will fit both those with a diff drop, and without.

The big deal about this, is we are using a spacer system for those with a diff drop, so those without won’t lose any extra ground clearance!
