Ok, I’m from the deep ass south I know jack about salt on the roads and all that for winter storms.
I’m in Memphis and we just got a couple snow days, I noticed they’ve been putting down salt and sand on the roads.....so my question is when do I spray down my undercarriage to prevent rust? I don’t have a pressure washer but am not opposed to climbing under there and scrubbing shit. Just want to make sure it’ll be ok if I leave it alone until this weekend when it warms up some.

A cheap solution is to get a yard sprinkler on a hose and park over it.

might sound silly but it was a serious suggestion. One of the oscillating ones that sprays back and forth. Just park it under your truck.

    Welcome sir :)

I would wash my truck (during the winter when they used all that crap) when i lived in Nevada on the weekends....didn't have time in the middle of the week working 3 jobs:D only rust issues i ever had were from the previous owner on the bed of the truck

You're fine to wait until it warms up a bit. If they sprayed the roads calcium chloride, make sure you rinse out above the rear wheel wells and all of the little nooks and crannies. That stuff is a ot worse than salt for causing rust. I usually go to the local DIY carwash, soak everything liberally with presoak solution, let it sit for a few minutes and the do the high pressure wash and rinse. I'm out 10 or 15 bucks by the time I'm done but it makes me feel better lol.

Up here, balls cold doesn't start until it's at least -10 LOL. Anything above 10 degrees and you'll wait in line for half an hour to get a car wash and kids are walking to school in shorts.

Just take it to a self washing bay this week/end. Spray it down (including suspension components) real well.

Brine, sand and salt is what they use up here. But I’ll be getting every nook and cranny with the pressure washer that’s for sure!
