How do you wash your Micro Fiber Towels?
Do you wash in regular detergent or use something special?

Or do you toss them and buy new ones?

Just curious as as I do both.

Some MF towels hold onto stuff that would scratch the paint. I use them on the paint first then rotate them to interior and then to really dirty areas like engine bay and tires.

    What methods do you use???

    A LOT... NEVER ENDS
As cheap as they are 20 dollars for a box is better than scratches on your truck... just my opinion...

I use the used ones for maintance on my truck (oil rags, cleaning engine, etc...)

I usually put them in the kitchen sink and soak them in hot water to loosen up the dirt and get most of the car care products off of them before i put them in the washing machine. They make special soap, but i just use regular detergent and they come out nice and fluffy.

Leave in hot water for about 30 mins and then I use chemical guys microfiber wash, wash with hot water and dry at low setting.

Nothing wrong with washing them with regular detergent, just don't use fabric softener or the pods since they contain fabric softener, dry on low heat and don't use dryer sheets. Both of those will affect how well they absorb water.

This is what I do. Never had an issue. If they look really beat up or get nasty I ditch them.

I use a new one to clean my eye glasses. If I leave them on my side table the dogs will get them and take them outside. When this happens the MF towels will grab and lock in grass, twigs and anything else they come in contact with. I wasn't paying attention one day and used one that had stuff imbedded in it and scratched my glasses. Cant polish that out.

I wash in the washing machine. I got a steal on chemical bro's mf wash detergent; but that said I used liquid tide for 10+ years with no issues.

$20 a box MF towels are probably scratching your car.

Tossing MF towels? Let me give you my address and you can send them to me.

I wash mine with the laundry. While my truck isn't "show quality", I think it looks damn good. I do wash and wax it regularly. But, the bottom line is that it is a TRUCK - not a street princess. It has scratches, dings, dents, etc. It sees far worse than a MF towel that has been used more than once.

Good grief. You guys only shower with bottled water too?

debadged, diamondback, window tint, dirty deeds exhaust.
washing them in white vinegar helps to keep them softer, use them on truck few times then down grade to other dirty jobs till get tossed

I only use Voss water to wash my truck or myself. Only the best for my truck and my balls.

Any detergent labeled "Free and Clear" should be fine for MF towels.

Sorry to resurrect an older thread, but I have a few related questions...

Have you compared micro-restore to other MF washes or plain old Free & Clear laundry detergents?

I got a bottle of Chemical Guys MF soap. I've been washing in the washing machine set to "Warm" and "Fresh water rinse" and dumping a bit of white vinegar in the bleach spot.
I wash household MF's after, so hopefully no wax is left in the machines transfer onto clothes.
Depends on my mood whether I use a drying rack or the dryer on "air dry" or "low heat."
After the wax job i did recently I soaked the towels in a bucket of warm water with some MF soap and agitated it regularly. Rung them all out and line dried them. A lot of wax was left in the water when I went to dump it out, but the towels seemed to hold onto a lot of it.

I know you're never to use fabric softeners or dryer sheets with MF clothes, but seems to be some debate on heat. Washing in HOT water seems to be a good idea by most standards, but never dry on HOT. Heat is heat, wouldnt hot water damage cloths as much as hot air? (Our hot water comes out damn near scolding.) Washing in hot water allegedly "opens up the fibers in the cloth to release any grime they are holding onto."

The moisture is the essence of wetness, and wetness is the essence of beauty.
