I recently bought a 2001 tundra access cab. I'm having an issue with the washer pump or the switch I'm not sure which one. The switch says to pull out. As I do so nothing at all happens. Are the wipers supposed to activate as u pull the switch? Also no fluid is coming out. I either have a bad switch or pump. I just need to know if the wipers are supposed to activate while pulling said switch.

Yes, they are supposed to. If your pump is bad, the wipers will activate but no fluid will come out. If your switch is bad nothing will happen.

Can you or have someone "hear" the pump working?

I can't here it run at all. But the wipers will not come on when I pull the switch out. Another thing I noticed the switch really doesn't move very much outward when pulled. The wipers work fine if I turn them on but not when I hit the wasger switch

Silly question but are you trying to pull it towards the passenger door or are you trying to pull it back towards the drivers seat? You want to pull towards the drivers seat if you aren't.

Alright I'm an idiot! I was pulling towards the passenger side! I thought the end of the lever pulled outward! I see now you gotta pull towards yourself. I was about to waste alot of money on a bunch of non working switches hahahaha.

Glad it was an easy fix.

I've had plenty on vehicles where you pushed in the end to wash so I can see where pull could be the misinterpreted.
