    Hello from Nashville!
After looking at way too many trucks and wondering about real world MPG I want a Tundra! I need a Tundra! We will be pulling a small camper and I do side work as a handyman. I was eyeballing a Manual shift Tacoma but I don't think they can pull up and down the Mountains of Eastern Tennessee the way I drive. I have visions of doing some light overlanding and enjoying this truck out doors. Before I ask too many questions I will be all over the forums for a while. The biggest question I have is which color! They all look good! I'm in no hurry to purchase so I will take my time in figuring out if I want to do the TRD package or get a SR5 4x4 and start to modify it. The wife will have to drive it on rare occasions so I will be looking to get Parking monitors as well. I'm excited!

Welcome from Colorado. Color is an easy decision. White. It's the fastest color LOL.

Seriously tho, any color Tundra is awesome.

Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
I would say stick with a lighter color, for the following reasons:
    Handy-man work = scratches/dents/dings
    Overlanding = scratches/dents/dings

In my experience lighter colors tend to hide those things better. Though blue sure does look nice... Also I would just go with a Sr5 4x4. You do not get much with the TRD package (that is coming from someone who has the TRD package).

    Welcome!
If you're on the fence between a Tacoma and Tundra I'd vote for the Tundra.

I've only had my Tundra for about 500 miles and from what I can see I'm getting 12.5 mpgs which is only about 1.5 mpg less than the Tacoma. Granted I had a pro. I don't tow but it's worth it to have the extra power.

Also check out fuelly.com to see what others are getting.

Welcome from CO. My 07 has the discontinued Slate Metallic which is pretty close to MGM. Love the color but scratches are a PITA. If I were buying new...................WHITE..............

Just drove from San Diego and back and got 18.8. I drove from North Idaho to Palm Springs last year with it loaded with a large dresser, passengers and luggage and still got right at 18 and thats including a few pretty steep mountain passes.

Welcome from Obx. I agree with Josh. Not worth the extra money for TRD package. Build it from SR-5. And don't listen to that Joon guy, he's trouble and delusional. Blue is the best color on the Tundra.

Welcome to the forum. If you want the parking sensors then you need to get the SR5 UPGRADE PACKAGE with options which is a $2190 package. I just checked the Toyota website.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
    Welcome from Cleveland Ohio!

I would go with Silver. It's light colored for the hot sun but it's not white.

It's my third Tundra and second silver one.

I will also vote for the Silver Sky.

If you're using the truck as a "truck" and hauling, towing, handymanning, and some light off-road camping/over landing I'd recommend the TRD off road pkg. I have it and it suits me fine. I love the look of the wheels (I upgraded tires).

But if you're like a lot of the folks on this forum and hate chrome, and you're gonna really overland / wheel / off-road with it, then start with the sr5 upgrade and spend the coin on new wheels/tires suspension. Then deck out a bed rack or twelve.
