Hey guys, pretty new here, and I got a ton of questions.
I want to put in the adjustable Bilstein shocks in the front to level it out, and I bought the 7 year warranty with the truck last month when I got it. The guy at the dealership said I would void the warranty if I did any mods myself, but they dont do leveling at the dealership. So, does anyone know what exactly could be voided by putting in this suspension? Seems odd that they say it voids everything. I couldnt find another warranty post, so I aplologize if there was one already. Thanks.

I am curious about this too. My understanding is that anything not modded is still covered and anything modded is no longer covered. I assume the original warranty still covers everything, it just won’t cover your new shocks, but they should come with their own warranty.

mods do not void your warranty:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson–Moss_Warranty_Act

the dealer has to prove that a specific mod caused a part to fail on your truck.

for example, if you added aftermarket shocks and then your AC failed, they cannot deny the warranty on your AC.
however, if you added aftermarket shocks that lifted your truck and the ball joints failed, then maybe they could deny the warranty on the ball joints.

General consensus I have seen is that in order to void any warranty the dealership would have to prove that whatever you modded was the cause of the break

Maybe he doesn't know how warranties work. You would not have warranty on the aftermarket parts themselves, and some parts that work in conjunction with that aftermarket part (say your ball joints) could be denied as warranty items if they were to fail.

Things that have nothing to do with your shocks, such as motor/trans/etc, would still have full coverage.

Shocks wear out and are user replaceable. You just happened to get ones that sit up higher. No lift there.

OP is in Canada. I'm not sure how warranties and aftermarket parts work up there. The others who replied is right about the US warranties and aftermarket parts.

Yep, Mag/Moss Act doesn't matter at all in this instance.

Canada has some sort of mag moss act. I read it in a thread on here, but forgot the name.
