such good memories from the big wheels we used to race, the schwinn banana seats, then the bmx bikes and skateboards..

 

I'm trying to find an image of my 1981 Western Auto double seater go kart with a 3 hp briggs with a big ol' confederate flag sticker which at my age back then only meant Bo and Luke or The Bandit and either one was kool.

That orange gun is an exact replica of a Whitney Wolverine 22 pistol. Crazy.

 

Took one of these to the forehead when my neighbor threw it off the monkey bars on his swingset. All the blood ruined my favorite star wars tshirt

That's funny, my dad was in construction too. Started building me a homemade go cart, but gave in and bought one. I ran from the cops too, but got caught. I did get away several times on my three wheeler a few years later.

 

So....I never “owned” a high end bike. However, some of the older kids in the neighborhood had a BMX theft ring going for a while. There was an old shipping container out in the woods where they’d keep them. Even had a chop shop thing going where they’d disassemble them and sell the parts.

Being the morally ambiguous little shit I was, I’d act as a lookout for them, along with telling them if I knew where any Hutch’s, Skyway’s, Mongooses, etc were. They Frankensteined me a bike out of parts they had, and repainted it with spray paint.

I told my parents it was an old bicycle one of them didn’t want anymore so he gave it to me. It looked like hell with the homemade paint job, so they didn’t question it. I’m not proud of it now, but my 11-12 year old self had no objections to it whatsoever. Guess that’s what happens when you live most of your childhood pretty much unsupervised.

I don’t remember what happened to it. It’d actually be pretty cool to have that ugly ass bike now.

Had one but not for long. When my sisters would bug me I’d pull the string and stick the bike in their hair.
Was it worth the butt whippings until my mom took it away? Of course it was.

 

Have you seen Toy Story 4? Duke Caboom is based on this toy. He’s even insecure about how he can’t do any of the stuff the commercials advertised.

 

Haven’t seen it yet. My daughter is already telling me that Disney streaming service will make college easier so once I cave on that I’ll check it out.

 

And this is what you do with them when you cant part with them...you make lights out of them!!

 

It’s pretty good. I didn’t care for the last one, but this one is pretty entertaining.

 

We used to put our knees in the back of that thing and roll down hills with it. We took more damage than the truck did.

Anyone else have one of these? About two weeks in I removed the wheel discs due the annoying sound they made.

 

I hate to say it but I had lots of these toys...and still do saved from childhood, and from my grandkids

 

I wanted one, but never got it. A friend had one and those discs broke pretty quickly.

Isnt that crazy...I have a old Murray that's been in my basement for 30 years...original condition, seen one go for over 5K

 

Bazooka!!!! My dad made them for us!!!! But we also played with lawn darts, and blew up model cars with firecrackers. Also bought us beer when we got older.

 

There was a hobby shop in town here in the 60's, closed in the early 70's. The guy has everything stored in his garage a few houses down from me. Everything is still in packages. He is 92. The hobby shop was so packed you could hardly walk through it. I can only imagine what's in the garage!

 

They still sell the goop! and we use the original burner not the newish light bulb oven. That thing gets hot! I have a bunch of the plates!

 

So all this thread is doing is showing that I was more broke than I thought. I remember seeing all these toys....but didn't mean I had them all. (obligatory vintage toy pic included to keep rolling)
