After getting tired of endless exploration in kc:d and rdr2, I decided to fire up alien isolation..on YouTube.

It's so funny and sad at the same time that I'll never finish this game. Even though I love it. The atmosphere is just too overwhelming for me.

I used shock/ice on my first play through. It kicked ass, but got boring. I’ve been using rogue (poison trap/flurry ) on the season one stuff. It’s not as powerful, but a lot more fun.

 

I was going to switch to Necro, Rogue, or Druid, but I'd only been about a week into having fun with that Sorcerer build before Season 1 released so I went with that build again to start the season. I'm currently at level 58 and haven't gotten bored with it yet so I'll at least take it to Tier 4.

 

I'm playing a Rogue and I'm at level 38, kinda getting bored though.

I've got high hopes for Starfield - unfortunately for the last few years every time I get excited about a new game release, they fuck it up.

 

I normally wait a few weeks to a month now before I buy a big title, although there are exceptions (e.g., Diablo 4).

And being a huge Fallout/Skyrim fan, I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I've been ignoring the subject and not regularly reading up on it. But at least it's strictly single-player and doesn't require online connection so that should eliminate a huge chunk of potential release issues.

 

I finally got enough courage to fire up Alien: Isolation. My progress has been thus far, depressing. I spent a lot of time cooking snacks in microwave and hiding in closets. Also, I don't remember where I am, where I have been before and where I wanted to go. I guess it's to follow objectives for now, until I get my bearings again. Mission 14, just found bolt gun, it's like an electric .50 BMG.

Few pix...amazing graphics for a 2014 game. I guess enclosed spaces, so not a lot of processing power is needed. They were able to crank it up a little more than an average game could.





The sound of reactor charges "BWOOSHGH", picture doesn't do it justice. If you close your eyes and wearing headphones, it feels like you're actually there. It's that good!

My wife forbids me to play those kind of games. I was playing Deadspace a long time ago at night with my headphones on. She walked up behind me, tapped me on the shoulder, and almost had an Xbox controller embedded into her forehead.

 

Haha!! That's hilarious and I can totally relate, gang!! I've watched some deadspace on youtube and it is definitely up there on anxiety level.

Sometimes I wish I had a gaming buddy alongside, other than my dog. He's a sweetheart, but of no help when he's asleep by my sweating foot as I'm hiding in the (in-game)closet!

 

All I have is a fucking cat and I feel like she's constantly judging me.

 

Well, i made it past the droids. Feeling like a badass after dealing with them, I proceed to the next area, only to be put into place as the door opens...

After reaching controls of the alpha core, I hid my sorry self in the cupboard when all sorts of fascinating noises summoned very loud footsteps.



I finally have enough courage to step outside into this brave new world with a set of soiled underwear, which surely smells a lot worse than melted...whatever it is on the walls.



Things got turned up a notch as i entered the next set of doors. A lonely creature is roaming ahead.



I had a flamethrower. I was the cautious hunter. Treading gently in the shadows. It didnt take long however, for the hunter to become the hunted.

We met. Perfect position to get violated:



I think this is enough dose of fear before bed. I must say though, pictures do it some sorry justice. Seeing and hearing the scene in action is truly terrifying.

Maybe tomorrow i can continue.

While I may get scared easily, I'm a more manly girl than you might think, gang!

 

It's really the whole survival thing with a xenophobe chasing you that I can't do. If there was at least an arsenal of items that serve as projectile weapons I'd give it a go. Like Deadspace that @TaquitoBandito mentioned. I played through all of those and really enjoyed them.

I also really enjoyed the Resident Evil games. I played through RE2 Remake in Atmos with the lights out. Mr. X was insane with his footsteps resounding all around. But you at least get weapons.

 

Well, sneaking around 'unarmed' isn't for everyone.
You have a few guns at your disposal, but none of them are effective against alien. Other enemies can be dealt with multitude of ways, even by summoning the alien. Works on humans only as android doesn't eat technology.

 

I asked my wife. She said I'm still banned from scary games.

 

Perhaps she could supervise you and cheer you on? Sneaking up from behind like a xenomorph obviously isn't optimal..

She doesn't understand modern video games (she really likes Pac Man though).

 

@TaquitoBandito , Modern video games are more like a movie these days. Definitely a step up from what they were 20 years ago. Have you watched or played modern warfare, the one released in 2018? The night raid can be mistaken for a movie at times.

Anyways, we continue the journey. After overloading alpha and beta reactors, I was able to barely get away. Unfortunately, I've been using more flamethrower than necessary. Now when I take out that thing, our situation turns into a stand-off. She waits for me to spray and then charges at me, knocking me to the floor 50% health hit. It's quite cinematic really, but equally terrifying; I'm backing away and she slowly walks towards me. No longer will she scurry away at first sight of fire. Here is one of the stand-offs...

Unintended consequences. Very unfortunate, because we just stirred up a hornet nest.



Before proceeding further, I decided to backtrack through other facilities. certain sections are shaking and creaking, making for some very terrifying traversal. Other spots are very quiet with constant fear of alien dropping out of the vent. Can you spot my companion?

 

Yuikes!! I just had the butt-clench of my life! I used elevator to arrive into gemini exoplanet solutions and there are these cameras that project a scanning beam to alert of any unauthorized lurkers.



Now, Ive watched on youtube that you can smash them with a hammer. So, thats what I did..
As soon as I started swinging and wrecked that thing, theres alien running through the ducts and drops behind me. I freak out and start running for my life to the elevator and i hear him right behind me on my heels THUMP THUMO THUMP!!!

I almost made it and in panic i swing my hammer at the controls instead of pushing elevator button. And well, this happens...

I think I'm done for the night. Better go continue watching that ww2 movie.

 

I haven't - mostly was playing Destiny at the time. I agree with some of the production these video games put out. The opening scene and a lot of the cut scenes from Diablo IV are crazy. I'm back to playing it - My Rogue is leveled up to 44. Been relying on Shadow Step, Twisting Blades, Heartseaker, Poison Imbument and Poison Traps to pretty much lay waste to anything that comes near me. Reminds me of what a highly skilled badass I am in real life.

Pretty sure I'll preorder the Starfield Premium Edition upgrade so I can start playing Starfield as soon as possible. If it's even a fraction of Skyrim in space, I'll be hooked.

 

Starfield looks fantastic. If the urge to pick it up overcomes, it will finally push me over the edge of upgrade-a-byss in order to play it.

He didnt see me; walked right by while i was crouched like a tiny little mouse. Not a squeak.

After taking a break and having a snack to calm my nerves, Im back and this time, I snuck by undetected. Boarded Anesidora.

He overloaded the dang reactor. Its a nuke in a few mins!!

I escaped. Unfortunately explosion of Anesidora took out our orbital thrusters on Sevastopol. We are losing orbit. Im also a little worried by the amount of flamethrower fluid game is giving me now. This cannot be good news.

When I get back, Theres some commotion and appears xenomorph is here already. Mustve heard doors opening during decompression as I was coming back into the station. Also, communication broke mid sentence with Ricardo.



I dont have enough back-bone to continue today. My life expectancy has shrunk 5% by the time I reached this point.

 

No alien today. Too stressed from the other day, cant be healthy. Was going through my RDR2 gallery, going to share a few..

I safely entered Torrens, but they must've climbed in through an engine crevice or somewhere else!! Also no return from comms!!

I do kinda wish there was a cutscene where alien tears everyone to pieces in the main control room as Amanda enters.



Nevertheless I watched through credits.
So...

Wow. Gang, what a horrific experience! Those last bits literally had me clenched in the seat soiling my pants. Huge props to the audio department as the atmosphere could not have been the same without it! 11 out of 10! All that reverb and volume management of the effects literally made you feel like you're on board sevastopol. You could close your eyes and just navigate the maze using your ears!

Also, level design is top notch! Constant claustrophobia from low ceilings and narrow passages! Fire looked fabulous! As much as a fan I've become of this game, I doubt there will be another playthrough after this. My mental state has deteriorated beyond repair for the foreseeable future.

 

So I guess that means you were finally able to poo.

 

I soloed 2 Strongholds In Diablo earlier tonight.

Took a break from Diablo 4. My sorcerer was getting way OP. I could just stand there and let The Butcher hit me and he barely gets my health down less than 1/4 before my character cycles through all the barriers and health is fully restored lol.

I must be really burned out on D4, cause rather than start a new class, this is what I choose to play.
