Whew... I really didn't want to feel anything going on down there, voluntary or not.

Joking aside, I really do want to play it especially since I'm a fan of the films. If and when I get around to it, I'll definitely be playing it on the easiest skill level lol. I played Resident Evil 2 Remake which supports Dolby Atmos, and that was bad enough getting chased by Mr. X which was just nuts hearing his footsteps above and all around me. I'm betting the Alien game will be a nightmare by comparison.

 

Picked up stray over the weekend and played half way through the game. I expected it to be just ok/reasonable and didn't bother to look up anything about the story, its really good.

I'm waiting on my steam deck pre-order... anybody else in the same boat? I couldn't decide at launch which version to order so I held off a few days waiting for reviews. Ended up placing an order for the 512GB 4 days after pre-orders opened.

 

I've read about steam deck, seems pretty neat! Most "make sense" option seems to be with biggest memory, since games are starting to get pretty big these days. I play games on PC, so not really looking at getting one.

Stray seems to be that laid back chill after work kinda game. Very neat concept!

@red_5ive, yeah, it's definitely must play if you enjoyed the movie. I'm at the point where androids go nuts after alien is jettisoned. It does feel a little clunky how you have to open menu wheel to pick out a pipe bomb or some other explosive. Really wish they let you assign a button like you can with primary weapons, like revolver or stun baton. It's very difficult when you're in the middle of battle and need to navigate with your mouse to pick correct weapon slot, but still quite enjoyable overall.

Going to the lake today and maybe do some more sneaking in the evening.

 

I'm still on the fence on getting a Steam Deck. If I didn't already have a decent gaming laptop (RTX3070 and 240Hz screen) for mobile gaming I'd have ordered a Steam Deck. If I end up getting one, it would be more for the convenience than anything.

 

Not much progress was done today. From fighting several androids all at once, to traversing ladders that were setup on jammed elevators and then almost falling to my death as one of them unjammed and flew down several hundred feet into dark abyss, almost taking me with it....

I decided to catch myself a break after mental meltdown, so I fired up Kingdom Come.


Then, I found the man who took my my groshen in the game of dice few nights ago.

 

Hey, man, great list! You have good taste. For 8 years, I have been a fan of the FIFA games. But now I can say with full confidence that this game series sucks! And it generally poisons the gaming industry. After all, there is an awfully small number of innovations. The game hardly changes from one release to the next, which sucks. I think that re-releasing basically the same game every year is complete nonsense. I didn't even buy it this year -- I just used FIFA 22 Key.

In the spirit of all the current events going on around the world, has anyone played Metro series? I have 2033 and Last Light. Both are fantastic post apocalyptic shooters! If you haven't heard of it, game is about nuclear winter and survivors who are holed up in metro tunnel system under Moscow. Twenty years have passed and certain creatures begin to appear in the tunnels, terrorizing the inhabitants. Game is based on novel by Dmitry Glukhovski.

 

I have I think all of them on PC except for the newest one. Picked them up on those ridiculous steam sales to add to my ever growing list of gabillion titles that I'll probably never get around to playing. Thanks, Steam!

 

I didn't go back to sevastopol today. Alien must be missing me. To be quite frank, I am not sure why I need to put myself through all that terror and frustration. Where is enjoyment in it?

Instead, I did some friendly dueling with my Rattay comrades. Kingdom Come is probably my favourite game of all time. We've been through it all. We bled together, we stole together, and we did many other questionable things together.

I usually cringe at midrange(entry midrange) prices above 300, but ahh... this might be the last GPU I ever buy in lifetime given my upgrade intervals.

It feels like purchasing a 2022 tundra platinum! Hopefully no stickers or fans fall off or whatever.

Nice! Glad to see the pricing is somewhat back to normal. I love the 3000 series, I really feel like Nvidia knocked it out of the park with this generation. And I've read nothing but good things on the 3060Ti.

I managed to get my hands on a 3070 at MSRP a little over a year ago from BH Photo/Video, along with a CPU upgrade (Ryzen 5600X). The 3070 wasn't my first choice, but I didn't hesitate as my 1070 had died and I needed/wanted a new GPU asap. Both were below the street price at the time from other retailers when they were priced $200-$300 above. I haven't been looking as of late, but hopefully that means pricing is normalizing. But I miss the days when I could just walk into a store and pick up pc hardware.

Thank you, @red_5ive! A 3070 at msrp a year ago is fantastic!!Remember when 3000series were announced and everyone started panic selling their 2080Ti at like 4-500 bucks only to be stuck with nothing when bots took all cards in 2 seconds? Lots of sour grapes!

 

I was really targeting a 3060Ti (which just hit the market at the time) or a 3080 as I didn't think there was much value in the 3070 with the 3060Ti being so closely behind it in performance for roughly $200 less. But of course I didn't hesitate on the 3070 with the lack of availability. B&H was taking reservations at the time, and shortly after getting the 3070 I had 2 reservations become available for 2 different 3080 models. I was tempted to buy them both, keep one, then be a scum and go make some $$$$ off the other 3080 and the 3070. But I'm not scum (or at least I don't think I am lol).

Yeah I remember when all that was going on, and with the 1080Ti as well. I remember being desperate when my 1070 died, and I went looking for a used card as a stop-gap. I found a 1080Ti on Offer-up for a decent price. But the seller asked me to take care of payment outside of Offer-up so that he could save on fees. I declined, and shortly after a 2060 Super became available at normal price from B&H. That fit the bill until I got the 3070, then I kicked the 2060 S down to my son.

It will be interesting to see how 4000 series launch will play out. There is mining cards dump coming and partners(asus, msi, gigabyte..) have too much stock of the 'old' 3000 series still available. There have been instances of high end cards(brand new) selling $1000 below (astronomical) msrp. Low end models don't seem to budge much though.

I've been reading a lot of people mention waiting until the new cards launch, but since I'm usually in the market for xx60 or xx70 models(once every 5yrs?), those will be long time away. New cards are usually launched with flagship models first and more budget oriented flavors follow last.

Btw, if anyone is looking for 3060ti or 3070, they're both available from best buy at msrp, 399 and 499 respectively.

 

I may be way off base on this as I haven't done much reading of late, but while we'll probably never really know how much the chip shortage affected stock vs the conspiracy theories of what was really happening (artificially induced, covid as an excuse, purposely limiting stock to fuel the scalper market and keep prices high on all GPUs both old series and new, etc.), I don't feel an ounce of pity that they have extra stock of the old 3000 series cards. Remember mid-way through the 3000 series life cycle when they announced newer version cards when you still couldn't buy any of the older cards outside of scalpers? Now they have old stock available? And with the dust starting to settle so late in the 3000 lifecycle, people are deciding to wait for the 4000. If there was any truth to the conspiracies, hopefully they don't find a way to invent another catastrophe to keep the hype going.

On the other hand, if they decide to blow out the 3000 cards for cheap, I'm in for a 3080Ti.

So, preliminary findings:
-kingdom come runs like sheet, albeit looking fantastic. When developers say future proofing, that means poop optimized.
-fired up shadow of the tomb raider and frames go anywhere from 60-120 in the very beginning in that evening village where they all wear masks. Settings set to ultra OH MY!! extra maximum.
-asassin creed unity also runs into 100fps on everything maxed.

I believe my limiting factor is CPU from 2010 and DDR3-1333 ram

 

For anyone who has played Fallout 4, what all did you have equipped on your guy when you went to the Glowing Sea?

 

You play Kingdom Come? I thought I was the only one in the world who has played that game lol

 

Oh yeah, I've done two complete playthroughs and then was just wandering around for a while, picking fights with bandits in their camps. I'm going to do third one with new gpu. Fantastic game! Sword fighting is incredible! So is the storyline!

 

It is definitely a unique game. The graphics seem very rudimentary and yet it is still captivating. I'm currently at the point where she is running around replaying events that occurred right after their village was overrun.

 

While I have about a dozen playthroughs, I don't recall all of what I brought with me each time. But these are common for when I go exploring radiated zones. It has also been a while since I last played, so my memory is a little jumbled.

• Full suit of power armor if exploring (preferably X-01), but to complete the Virgil mission I just ran through in the hazmat suite without stopping during my first playthrough.
  
• Couple of extra power cells if exploring and using power armor
  
• Heavy hammer
• Overseer or the 2-shot rifle (forget the name)
  
• Minigun or the nuke cannon thing
  
• Glowing blood packs + perks to increase resistance and duration of effect
  
• As much Radx and Radaway I can carry

I also didn't go there right away when I got the Virgil mission. I spent time doing quests to level up and acquire/upgrade gear first.

 

This is my first playthrough but I'm about 600 hours in. I've got multiple suits so I'm good there. Love the Overseer but the Plasma sniper is my wep of choice for most as it will wreck damn near anything I shoot with it. I put points into explosive damage so the Overseer hits like a rock star. I also started to perk into Radiation damage and the other one that heals me when exposed to radiation.

What is the hammer for? I try to not carry too much so I can loot a lot but I usually end up running around with a little more than 100 free Str.

 

The hammer is for anything that gets too close. It's almost always in my arsenal. I just favor them over other melee weapons and with the right perks you can hit multiple targets with 1 swing. But now that I think about it, I don't bring it along with the mini-gun for weight reasons, so I'll alternate it with an explosive minigun which shreds anything.

As for Overseer, it isn't my weapon of choice, but I was answering in context to your question. The times I visited The Glowing Sea, it was one of the best weapons that I had at the time. My weapon of choice is otherwise the 2-Shot Gauss rifle. It deals massive damage with upgrades and the right perks. The highest DPS I got with one for sure was in the high 800s, but I may have had one in one playthrough that was 900+ DPS (post upgrades/perks, of course), I just can't remember for sure. It can pretty much 1-shot almost anything, and I love the charge option as it doesn't use extra ammo, and in Vats mode it always uses full charge.
