But wasn't mgsV unfinished, with copy pasted gameplay and some cut content? I haven't played it, just watched some videos. Something feels wrong.

 

Either that, or they said "Well sh*t. Kojima is gone, but it's time for another MG game, so let's do this..."

It doesn't compare in any way/shape/form to MGS5/PP or others, to be sure. I'm simply saying that taken on its own merits, it's not terrible.

But there are indeed places where it feels like it's unfinished, still. For example, on the Africa map, if you run about 600 meters - from the teleporter above where Sahelanthropus is, almost to the mansion - you find one of those bases, and right where the teleporter is, there's...nothing.

Additionally, there's a HELL of a lot of materials there, and you can get overloaded easily, slowing you down...but you still have to hoof it through a sh*t ton of jungle to get back to a teleporter. Dumb as hell...but the game as a whole isn't terrible.

 

I remember seeing my little cousin do a playthrough on his alienware pc with gtx970 and was blown away by the graphics on that intro in the hospital. Then he got to the first missions in Afghanistan and while it looked fantastic, it started feeling repetitive. Stealth was excellent though!!

I've read somewhere konami is working on remake of the series, not sure how true the rumor is or time frame, but first one being brought up to date would be pretty neat. I loved it on ps1.

As silly as this sounds, one of the biggest reasons I enjoy MGS5: PP so much was Quiet. Once you get past the obvious stuff (comments from the wife like "Oh, you're taking Ms. Boobs along on this mission? Uh huh." LOL!), you find out that, at least within the confines of a game, it's actually a pretty involved and semi-well written storyline involving Snake and Quiet. I won't exactly say I got choked up when I played mission 45 (where you 'lose' quiet for the last time, unless you do the hack that allows you to get her back), but there's a part @ the end where you can tell and almost *feel* her desire to stick around with Snake destroyed when she has to speak English in order to ensure Snake is saved. It's a rare game where a character can struggle against their fate for 30 seconds or more - AND manage to successfully convey that to the guy playing the game.

Anyways...there's nothing anywhere near that involved in Metal Gear Survive, and you can tell, both in playthroughs of the game and by the reviews of all the fanboys like myself. LOL

 

I finally fired up Alien:Isolation. Watched playthrough few years back and then epic games was giving it away for free, so I grabbed it. Decided to play it on my own now. Btw, it is horrifically intense as fk if you've never played it. Sound is like nothing you've ever heard before in a game. It is so well done. The atmosphere, you can almost feel it with your ears.

My brothers and I have been playing SWAT 4 lately. Some of the levels are pretty tough with only 3 people.

 

So, after playing certain games firsthand and comparing my performance to some younger youtuber streamer, I can humbly say that I suck. Overall, my coordination at shooting is mediocre and navigation skills are on the bottom end. Using Garmin for my driving assist might have something to do with it.

I mean, when I take it slow and analyze things, I get it working, but doing things quick on the fly and shooting twenty guys at the same time really is not something I can achieve with prowess. Sometimes though, I'll admit, I'm giving too much thought process and logic to try and solve stuff that, in game, doesn't follow logic or proper physics. Ahh..

I do kick ass in kingdom come sword fighting though and I was excellent driver in original...driver for ps1.

Now, about that alien isolation game, not sure I have the mental strength to play it. Those creaking sevastopol station sounds are scary goose bumps and I havent even reached the part where I sneak past working Joes and that unkillable xenomorph. Watching it was one thing, but playing it is on another level of hardcore terror.

 

You should turn the lights off. It'll help you focus.

 

I tried doing this with Resident Evil 2 Remake (for ambience and not because I needed help focusing ). The game supports Atmos, and the first time I ran into Mr. X with his footsteps echoing above and all around me, yeah the lights went back on lol.

 

Okay, so I met my first girlfriend. She's got a long metallic tail. Shortly after, I got my first deep throat from her double mouth. Also, the way she stomps her feet, the whole sevastopol is rattling. I think she's got a size 20.

I remember metro2033 and LL being scary but this is legit terrifying.

 

But did you have the lights off? Lol

 

Are you kidding?! 3 bright LEDs in the living room and a dog nearby. I'm a wuss! Every time she climbs out, I'm in a bad spot with nowhere to hide.

One time, I was watching from the other side of the huge hall as she was doing her killing(that first human roadblock you encounter). She then turns around, runs up the stairs to the balcony and straight for me! Got raped.

 

Okay, so I've met up with Samuels and Taylor at medical. Last couple hours before that, I've navigated my way through communications floor and about half a dozen of those working joes who went nuts.

I enter a room and there's one of them lying (drunk?) on the floor behind the counter. I saw his eyes glowing, so I figured I'll keep my distance and keep an eye on him. As soon as I turn around to access a terminal, he grabs me and goes "there you are". I wacked him and stuff came out of his head. To be honest, I'm not sure if that xenomorph is more scary or those joes with their little monologue.

Anyways, I finally made it back to the spire and couple NPCs came in a car from another station. Xeno decided to join in. While I hid behind a sign(in plain freaking middle of the room), he murdered those innocent souls and jumped into the vent. I frantically and very quietly run in a crouched position to a better(debatable) hiding spot. Xeno dropped down again and started walking around looking for me. Back and forth he paced until he suddenly stops, waits a few seconds and then turns my way and launches into my direction!! I'm already likegoodbye world and few meters from my coffin, he jumps and disappears into the duct. That right there probably erased a few years from my life.

After taking couple days off, I dove back in.

It's time to introduce you to my new girlfriend, since we finally met face to face. She's a very passionate lesbian. Kills men on contact, but took her time approaching me. Look at those dentures! Sevastopol dentist is one of a kind!


It took me some half a day finally get here. That last part before explosion is very difficult because alien kept jumping and stalking all day long and I totally had to get those supplies from all areas. One time I was opening a door and she comes in!! I tippy toed right by her. Not much peripheral vision when up close.

..yeah, no sheet. I had my volume up and when this scene started, RIP ears. Btw, I was walking around, looting, enjoying the scene and slowly looked like I was getting drunk. Turns out I was dying! I even crafted a few items before realizing it. Died while climbing.

Next couple pix, just wanted to mention, scenery outside is so atmospheric. The scope and size of the station really is gigantic. You need to experience it while in motion. Pix only give it half justice.



And the sound...man they really did fantastic sound. It feels like you're walking literally there. Such ambience.



Overall, really enjoying the horrifying experience. Love the stealth, although I had an uncontrollable urge to lower the difficulty once or twice, but holding steady on medium.

I'm happy to say I'm living vicariously through you! No way I'd play this game unless I set it on the easiest difficulty!

 

Anyone here heard of Kingdom Come: Deliverance? I've logged quite a handful of hours not very long ago. Never gets old. Couple trailers: first one is hilarious, second one shows some of the game features. Btw, forest in this game is so far best I've seen to date.

Okay. Back to the alien it is. After much needed break, we dive right back in...

This becomes my second chance at survival, although I've been practicing extreme restraint in using this tool. Alien will learn and alien will find other ways to circumvent my fire and kill.


Btw. This is from an explosion and I totally forgot I had a screengrab before the blast. This is the moment all my life flashes before my eyes. See those barrels with red LEDs? Yes, that is explosive meant to kill an alien. Pretty sure this is enough to rip apart the whole sevastopol. What kind of genius thought of this idea?


This is what it looks like after another explosion from the room where I used the door to enter. That smoke in action is pretty terrifying when you realize you're in space and if seals break, you are dead. Btw, right after an explosion as I come to my senses, an android on fire walks out of that smoked door and grabs me by the throat, trying to escort me to safety. Yes.


This is a flashback when you speak to an npc about what happened to....don't remember. But anyways, you explore an alien space ship crash and some creepy atmosphere. Reminds me of armageddon when they arrive to that asteroid. Gas venting everywhere and just plain old sheetstorm.


After so much time of hide and seek, we decided for some quality time together. Again.


She's not very good with penetrations though. Last time, she missed it by about 8 inches too high. I felt the pain.


But all was put behind as she caressed me in her arms with that gentle soothing touch.


I knew this was a bad idea to approach him, so I put a bullet in his head. More hiding.


The views out the balcony are so fascinating. Incredible.


I finally came to the very scary part. I was used by Mr.Wates like a puppet as he jettisoned me along with an alien into space. I brought alien into a lab and he knew the lab can be separated from sevastopol. The whole scene when you're tumbling in a space station and then gravity is restored and you're walking to an air chamber and you see stuff tumble out the window and there's also an alien sonewhere looking for you. I finally made it and closed the door just in time! I mean it was so close my butt hair was raising up from tension!!


In the next photos, I scramble to out on a suit and get jettisoned into open space for a long unplanned space walk. It was gorgeous, but very tense moment. Photos:

I was just screengrabbing shots as I was tumbling towards sevastopol through space for longest 15 seconds of my ripley life.

 

Was that the end? Xeno jettisoned and you got back safe?

 

Well no. Scariest parts are yet to come. Developers really did a great job of ratcheting mental pressure on the player. The audio with all those ambient sounds and all those alarms going off from failing space station really makes your butt clench.

Lol, not sure I have the nerve to finish it to the end.

Edit: I will add, when you're hiding in a vent duct completely silent and dark and then you hear a thump and someone galloping thump-thump-thump and you turn on your flashlight and see alien approaching that is a true underwear moment. Never safe.

 

I recently bought a new Xbox. It took me about 4 days to realize that my thumbs are not connected to each other and not connected to my eyes nor my brain. I packed up the Xbox and shipped it from TX to KS to my son who can play the darn thing.

 

The first part of that sentence got me thinking maybe I'll jump in, since I have a 5.2.4 gaming setup. Then I got to the last part of the sentence and thought, nevermind.

 

What’s a good couch co-op split screen shooter game for Xbox? I’ve been a gamer all my life, since the late 80s and all these new games are online only 2 player and it sucks. ‘Memba years ago when all the multiplayer games were split screen and you play with your friend in person, get a pizza some drinks and chest bump when you just eliminate a boss. Army of two is like the last good one I’ve played.

 

@red_5ive, Ah forget that last sentence, that's just me being silly. It's nothing like that, just exaggeration on my part! My apologies.

You should give it a try! The sound will blow you away(at some levels in game literally). I think surround sound will make this game very enjoyable for you!

At the moment, I'm taking a break from alien. No particular reason, just caught a cold while crawling in the vents. Had 38.9°C yesterday, but feeling better today. Can't wait to dive back in.

@Tundra Dude 45, don't know much from nowadays. There's "A way out" that's split screen, but it's not exactly a shooter. It's about 2 prison escapees on the run. It's pretty neat actually. You might enjoy it in coop with couch buddy!!
