I think I did - my floating baseball said I have to bring it to the Wizard lady and I went to check my stash and didn't see it. I haven't gotten far enough to talk to her yet. I just wanted to dip my toes back in and it kept going and going. I'm assuming that'll be my next stop.

I guess my Samsung is just too old for those features.

Same. It's been a great TV, but I've also had it since the days of PS3, so...

Yeah, it's the newer sets that get firmware updates that get broken. I have an older Samsung plasma that has no internet/network capability. It can be updated over USB, but I never updated and it still runs perfect.

Mine is a Smart TV but either I've never bothered to connect it to the Internet or they've never bothered to update it. But I literally just turn it on, turn my AV receiver on and then turn on either my PS3 or my cable box.

....have two ports that just stop working. o_O

Seriously...aside from the fact that the TV gets slower over time (I've got a Samsung bought 3 years after a friend bought a Vizio smart TV, and their TV is not only faster, but all of their features work), it's had an optical port and one of the HDMI ports that went flaky. Samsung themselves told me "Yeah, we had a bad batch...we can fix it if you want but uh, it might not stay fixed." LOL

Haven't had that issue yet but because I run everything through my receiver, I only need one HDMI port on the TV.

I used to as well, until I realized probably 95% of my music either a) was streamed or b) came from a source via bluetooth; so I got rid of my receiver and bought a Sonos system. I don't regret it one bit - just wish I didn't have to unplug the TV every week or so to get it to recognize the Sonos system.

That's related to the issue with the new(er) Samsungs and why it keeps resetting the 1 input that I use as I also run everything through my preamp (a 4k ultra blu-ray player, regular blu-ray player, Roku Ultra, XBOne, PS4 Pro, gaming PC). It will auto detect the source and change the settings to what the software thinks is optimal. The problem is, once it detects the PS4 or XBox, the TV will change to - and remain in - game mode until I change it back. Game mode looks horrendous with video sources, especially 4k HDR. Drives me freakin' nuts. There used to be an option to disable the auto-detect, but one of the firmware updates removed it. The TV is no longer supported with updates so there's no way Samsung will ever add that disable feature back. Happened on both of my Samsung 4k UHD models, which both were premium models from the 2016 KS series.

For all my bioching about the Samsung, in a strange twist of fate, I bought a smaller Samsung 32" to replace one of my gaming monitors. The OLEDs I picked up last week spoiled me. Once I got a taste, one of my old(er) IPS non HDR monitors just looks washed out in games. So I went on a quest to find something that has that glossy HDR pop in games, and the Samsung fit the bill, for both 4k HDR gaming and as a monitor. Horizon 2 looks excellent!

But I'm keeping this one off the internet. :D

I've been cruising along on Destiny 2. I'm on level 14 with the Season unlock crap and I got to a point with the Witch Queen where my little Ghost (who has a Scorpion Costume) kept telling me to run from these stupid giant eyeballs. Then he'd yell "Dead End!" After about 10 minutes of that I yelled "Fuhk You" at it and turned it off. Where the hell are you supposed to run to? It just keeps yelling "Run" which is great but where the hell am I supposed to run too? I did whoop on a couple of those eyeballs but more kept popping up.

    Having a good time though.

Yep, I played on Friday and was reminded about all the times I'd gotten annoyed and put this f-in game down for the day. I haven't picked up Witch Queen yet, and the game automatically started with whatever DLC mission had the Cabal. I was prompted with an option to play normal or legendary, and I picked legendary. I was ripping through the opening mission and got to a no re-spawn section. I was ripping through that, too, when the game spawned like 10 cabal right on top of me. I activated my super, ripped through them and survived with a sliver of health when a random shot came out of nowhere and ended the run. I exited the game and have no desire to re-play. I think my Destiny 2 journey might be at its end.

Yeah, games like Destiny 2 are the reason I'm a big fan of campaigns and 1 player games and NOT of online games.

(That, and I'd had enough the first time I tried Fortnite and some 12 year old killed me, then told me I was his b*tch. LOL)

Yep, that's why I don't do PVP. I'm tired of getting my ass handed to me and then Tea-bagged by some little delinquent (that was the original Destiny but I still haven't gotten over it).

I just started Elden Ring last night. I'm a big fan of the souls games and similar games like Bloodborne. Haven't gotten very far into it, but from what I hear its top notch.

I'm pretty sure that game would result in an Xbox controller being embedded in my OLED screen.

Haha, I had never played a souls type game until I tried Bloodborne. I hated that game with a passion and thought it was the most ridiculous game ever. So literally for 2 years it sat. One day my nephews were over, starting playing it, and they gave me the controller because it was so hard and all of a sudden it just started to click for me how the game worked. Then I watched a few YouTube videos about how to really play it and I've been hooked every since. But the initial learning curve was infuriating.

I played mostly PvE in Destiny 1 & 2. The raids were fun. But otherwise I'm the same and stick with single-player games mostly these days, and Open World RPG/Action RPG genre at that. I love getting immersed in good story single-player campaign. I'm almost done with Horizon 2, and I loved every minute of it.

Single-player games are also usually far less buggy at release time, for obvious reasons.

Now that would be a fun call to Best Buy Geek Squad. "But your extended warranty service says it covers accidental damage. I swear I accidentally threw my controller and not on purpose."

They'd answer and say "Hey Joel. What'd you do this time?"

I prefer the RPG's too, I just haven't found a good one lately. The graphics have to be good too, I don't like playing cartoons and I don't like being forced into playing a girl character.

It's too bad CD Projekt couldn't get their crap together on console with Cyberpunk 2077. Easily one of the best Action RPGs I've played in a while. It played perfectly and looked beautiful on PC.

Yeah, I get the girl thing, but Horizon didn't really bother me in that regard because production/development started back in 2011, before it became trendy to have a female protagonist. But I also tend to create/play female characters anyway, depending on the game. My wife rolls her eyes at me because I make the characters look like her, and I joke around that it's the only means I have of controlling her LOL. One of my favorite Skyrim character mods is Daenerys from Game of Thrones.

I didn't know Horizon was a girl character. I've heard good things about it. I really want to get back into Skyrim but just can't seem to do it. I played Cyberpunk for about a month and just couldn't get into it as much as I'd like. I wanted to be able to drive like in Horizon and shoot like Destiny. I bought the Mass Effect trilogy but the graphics, again, aren't as great as I remember and I get sick of all of the dialogue.

We might be discussing different games as the Horizon I'm talking about doesn't have any driving, which I think you're talking about Forza: Horizon? I was otherwise referring to Horizon: Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West. The combat in these games is exceptional.

Sorry, yeah. We were tracking. I wasn't thinking when I put Horizon - I meant the car game and knew the other one was what you were talking about.

Cool, cool. I still need to pick up the latest Horizon 5, especially now that I have an OLED. The gameplay footage I've seen looks insane!

Agreed; it's one of my favorite games. In general, I don't care who the protagonist is, *IF* the game is done well. I've been a long-time fan of anything Final Fantasy (although they've got their down sides - FFX was merely OK, and FFXV was a steaming pile of sh*t when it came out, and still isn't great), and they've had the characters switch off at times.

HZD was one of the first games where I feel the game was done right, and same thing with HFW. One day while playing, out of nowhere my wife says "How come you like this game? I mean, it has a girl as the main character." I looked @ her like she had two heads. I reminded her that all along I've always said I don't care how violent or non-violent the game is, whether the protagonist is a guy or a girl, etc., so long as the game is done well.

For me, Breath of the Wild was an example of that. Every other Zelda game was pretty rigidly defined...and BoTW was the first one to say "You know what? We don't care where the hell you go or what you do - in fact, if you have the balls for it, you can march right into Hyrule Castle and beat up Ganon if you think you can handle it." And people loved it.

On a side note...making my way through MGS5: PP right now and just 'got' Quiet. I can count on some comments from the wife every time. :D

It doesn't bother me as long as its purposeful and done in good taste. Otherwise, if there's anything I don't like is band-wagoning or trying to shove your agenda down my throat, regardless of what it is or who's side it's on.

Yep, I get comments from the wife, too. I usually game in the living room in the evenings to hang out with her while she/we watch shows. For that I have an additional gaming monitor that I put on the coffee table and move my console or gaming laptop out there. If I can choose/edit the character, I make them look like her. That's usually the only time she comments, which often is something like, "I don't like that armor. Change it." lol But otherwise she doesn't really care. Her only comment on Horizon was, "Hey, that looks like Sam Larussoi!"

Thanks for the reminder! I haven't started on MGS5 yet. I picked it up on Steam a while back and forgot all about it. I'm wrapping up Horizon 2, just going for the Platinum since I was already close to getting it after I finished all the side missions. MGS5 for sure next. Gotta get Quiet! :D

Legit one of my favorite games ever, it was the total package: gameplay, music, voice acting, story line, graphics. It was one of the few open world games where I didn't feel like each side mission was a copycat of the other; kept you into the game. I haven't played the second one yet, its next on my list.

Horizon 2 somehow takes it to the next level. The combat is more refined, if not better, and melee itself feels like it was overhauled. And the storytelling... just wow. One of the early cut scenes got my blood pumping!

I also finally got an OLED a couple of weeks ago. The graphics with HDR enabled is the best I've seen yet hands down on Playstation.
