We bought a CX last year and it's great. I was at BestBuy last week with my daughter and they had some kind of LG OLED A-series or some shit and it had AI that would adjust the colors on the screen. I almost came home and accidentally knocked our Sony off of it's stand... Mrs. Bandito would have figured it out though...

I loved the original BioShock when it came out in ‘07. The storyline details, and graphics were amazing and gave a very immersive gameplay. The second release in the series was decent as well but when the third game came out, Bioshock Infinite, I didn’t bother to buy it. Probably because it deviated too far from the original storyline.

Well Microsoft had a huge sale on the series a few months ago, so I bought it. It is a decent game overall. The storyline is pretty good and the world is amazing. The fighting unfortunately lacks refinement and the weapons (and upgrades) are disappointing. There are too many and ammo is limited so you have to choose which ones to use and upgrade. And I’m finding the side tasks and missions distracting.

I’m wishing I had played it back when it originally came out. I would probably have a different perspective. But overall the game lacks the “breadth and depth” balance of the earlier releases. Bummer.

A good buy for $10…but not worth more.

    This reminds me of something....

I've had two Samsung TVs, and both of them have had minor issues, and software 'quirks.'

Current TV is a 58" Samsung 4K, one of the more basic ones. It needs resetting every week or so, as it sort of 'forgets' that it's hooked up to my Sonos Beam and Sonos Ones; and the optical out port is crap. (Which is fine, because I use the HDMI ARC channel for the sound.) This doesn't account for the general slowness of the UI - Samsung seems to like to use the slowest CPU for their TVs. A plain-Jane Vizio is a hell of a lot faster than mine.

My question is this - should I look elsewhere for a TV when I decide to replace this one? Or is there some threshold above which Samsung TVs aren't plagued with general slowdown and stuff.

Must be an issue with newer Samsungs only? I've had 2 (2010 and ~2015?) and have no complaints.

I play Battlefield 1 on Xbox. I love this game, been playing it since it came out. I’ve been a gamer my entire life. Started as a kid with Nintendo Mario. If I had these modern day video games as a kid I wouldn’t be able to stop playing lol.

Yep, these are pretty much the issues that I have. I especially hate the reset issue. I have two KS8000 models from 2016 (65" version in the main setup, and a 49" version in the mancave), which were at the time one step down from the flagship 9000 series. Both of them tend to change settings and rename inputs depending on source selection, which then changes the settings based on the "detected" input device. Really aggravating because I have everything connected to my pre-amp on both TVs, and I went through the time-consuming process of calibrating the f-ing things. Even worse, there's a way to disable the auto-detect that changes everything, but Samsung broke the said disable feature with a firmware update and never fixed it after.

I can't say for sure if other manufacturers are better, but I'm still going to get an LG C series to replace both 8000s, and hopefully soon. For one, I don't see anyone complaining about the above on the LG TVs, but I've found enough complaints about it on Samsung sets. I did briefly have a Vizio M-class model that didn't experience any of these issues. I almost wish I kept it.

None of my Samsung TVs prior to the 2016 models I mentioned above have any issues. My problems seem to stem from internet connected TVs that get firmware updates. I never updated any of the firmware on my prior Samsung sets as they didn't have network capabilities. My entry-level 2013 40" Samsung plasma (in the bedroom) and 2013 Samsung 65" 6000 series LED (in the loft) have been flawless, so I never bothered to update them manually.

I really, really like our LG's. We have 3 and I've never had a problem. The OLED is amazing and it actually has a decent speaker system.

We have a Sony and I'm not a big fan of it. The LG will ask you if you want to update the TV and then it does it in the background. It waits to install until you turn the TV off before it's installed. The Sony just decides it's going to randomly update when you turn it on and then goes through this stupid Android reboot. Other than that, it's a good tv.

My dad likes his Sonys but I don't think any of them are new enough to have OTA updates.

That jives with what I've heard. I've essentially been told LG, then Vizio, then Samsung (if one must), in that order.

I mean, I like our Samsungs; and the older ones are fine, but the last 2 newer ones I have had just sort of forget settings, randomly have some port go bad, etc.

Plus I need at least 4 HDMI ports (Dish, PS5/Xbox Series S, Switch, and ARC).

Well I said somewhere up above a couple of weeks ago I wanted to replace my Samsungs with an LG C series, and I'm happily now part of the C1 club. Picked up a 48 for the mancave, and a 65 for the main room. I'd been playing Horizon: Forbidden West, and the move from my prior TVs (Samsung KS8000) was night and day!

I couldn't be happier... except maybe I might be happier that I got the Samsung KS8000s out of my life.

Exactly the reason why I'm done with Samsung. I never had a problem with Samsung, but my current sets just got worse with each FW update, up until they dropped support after 3 years and I ended up with a couple of TVs with less features and less functionality than when I bought them. They were a step down from the top model when I bought them, too. I still have an older model from 2013 that isn't a smart TV and has no internet, so it doesn't get FW upates. Absolutely no issues with that one. Samsung makes great hardware, but software support is terrible.

Exactly...that describes my experience to a T. The TV is slower, less functional, etc. Two ports don't work, and I could go on.

Good to know I’ve had Samsung forever and never ran into issues but the newest one I have is now several years old. I feel an 85” in my near future

Didn’t know you were a gamer TaquitoBandito! I’ve played destiny since the beginning, Witch Queen is pretty good but can understand getting tired of the grind. I do it to piss my sons off that I have a higher light then them. :D

This is the first expansion or whatever that I skipped. I go by "Bif Hunkly" on xbox. If you ever played with a Hunter that kept falling off the ledges, that may have been me. :)

I might have to go ahead and try to get back into Destiny. I love Forza but it's getting a little monotonous, hopefully they release an expansion soon.

I’ll have to check out for Bif Hunkly. If you get a friend request from Ohtoothlesswndr that would be me, and there is a story behind that name and yes I have all of my teeth :D I run the warlock because I prefer being in a support role. I struggle with the same with falling off the ledges, and reason why I don’t do the raids. Any jumping scenes I’m out. Maybe see you on there some time.

Cool - I'll definitely add you. Yeah, I don't do the raids because of that and the fact that I seem to have the bladder of a 3 year-old girl.

I stopped playing Destiny 2 over a year ago. Got tired of the grind, and the sunsetting got me to quit. But the latest expansion peaked my interest and I reinstalled it over the weekend. I'm about done with Horizon 2 so I'll probably jump back in sooner than later.

I haven't finished Beyond Light. I think I last played during Season of the Chosen, so I'm about 3 seasons behind. But I'll pick up Witch Queen tonight. Gonna hit the gym first and grab some dinner, then I'll probably hop on and see what kind of trouble I can get into.

Fallout 4 has my interest 100% right now. I'm about 50ish hours in. Buggy ass game and I was definitely tempted to throw in the towel but glad I didn't.

I don't think I finished it either. I didn't really understand what the hell was happening anyway, I'm just there to shoot things in the head. I remember being really confused about the new powers...

I'm hoping there's a little tutorial thing again because I'm not sure if I can remember what button does what.

That was another one I started and gave up on. I'm not big into the base-building stuff. I just like exploring and shooting shit.

    :monocle: I may have issues.

Nah everyone has their thing. I guess it's only natural I get into it since I have loved RPGs and MMOs since the late 90s.
