I'm looking to pick it up closer to Christmas, I'm waiting for a few of the bugs to get worked out. I'm on PS4. I'm going to give crossplay a shot, but I'm guessing it will be a massacre. PC is so much faster.

 

I was told that 2042 didn't have crossplay. Buddy on PS4 told me because I'm on PS5.

 

The new one is a lot better - I remember waiting 20 minutes for games to boot up on my Xbox One X because of updates or whatever. The Series X has been almost instantaneous.

 

Would there be any point to get an XBox Series S if you're a PC gamer with a souped up PC, being that a lot of XB games (particularly MS Studios games) are also available on PC?

I also ask this in context of having preferred PS4 over XBox with the last console generation, and the fact that I haven't been able to get my hands on a PS5. I also play more single-player games than multi.

 

Apparently the patch today messed it all up lol. I'd wait for sure.

 

The rollout of 2042 is eerily similar to that of the 2022 Tundra.

 

2042 is cross play just not cross gen (PS4 can't play with PS5)

Series X/S, PS5 and PC can all play together.

Edit you can play with PS4 and PS5 but you have to download the last gen version of game on new gen

 

That's been the rollout of most games ever since the 'games as a service" or "live games" became a thing. 15 years ago developers made sure their shit was in order and functional before they shipped. Now that they can patch and update they roll out whatever half digested turd they happen to have at the moment. Look at the launch of so many recent big games; The Division, Destiny, Destiny 2, Star Wars Battlefront etc. all had rough launches, but were eventually put into a decent order. Then you have stuff like Mass Effect: Andromeda, Fallout 76, or (the one that forever burned me on preordering) Anthem that were so abysmal that they actually damaged the developers in a big way. Or you get the insults from the likes of Blizzard and their mobile only Diablo.

 

Well, I just bought Battlefield 2042. Been playing for about 2 hours now. So far I give it a score of about 4/10. BFV is superior in nearly every way.

 

Sigh... another Steam sale. Just grabbed Guardians of the Galaxy and The Outer Worlds.

Death Stranding is amazing. I’m on my second play through, going for the Platinum Trophy. It’s one of the most innovative and important games that’s came out in recent years. Kojima is brilliant.

 

You can’t blame the console because you have bad internet. But, I can completely relate to what you’re saying. I bought my house six years ago without realizing that I was just outside of city limits with very limited Internet. Over the last few years I’ve gravitated away from playing the Xbox and enjoy more single player titles on the PlayStation 4 because updates and installs take too long. The Xbox is a phenomenal console no matter what generation you look at. It is a lot more reliant on Internet these days though.

 

Sounds like Steam. It has to update itself every time I open it (about once a week) and sometimes it will pop up 5 minutes later saying it needs to update again.

 

I bought my daughter the newest Sims game for Christmas. It wasn't available for the Nintendo Switch so I regrettably bought it for the heXbox. I loaded it up and now it has to update off the network for 10 damn hours. I could have dealt with a couple of hours but not 10. I hope the game is worth it since after this I'm never buying any Xbox games ever again. I knew it was a mistake to buy anything Microshit. The Grinch has spoken.

On the topic of Steam….how are y’all playing? I’ve got two consoles, so I’d really like to stick with that “mode.” As such, I have two options, I think:

1. Use the Steam app on my Samsung Smart TV along with a BT controller.
2. Buy some sort of console that will hook up to the TV and run Steam.

What sayeth ye?

 

I've heard of Steam but didn't look to much into it. Do BT controllers work on other platforms?

 

Witcher 3 GOTY Edition was $10 on Steam, so I'm just now getting into it. From what I hear, the series brought new and old players back, so the community content has seen a bit of a revival. I tried playing through 1 and 2, but the combat in those turned me off greatly. I felt like everything was a QTE without prompts. Combat in 3 is fantastic though. I don't game very much, but I have a very long Steam wishlist. Now that my fiance has completed a career change, I'm not carrying this whole thing anymore and I feel like I want to game as a light hobby again.

I am considering getting into the sim scene though. Just not sure what setup to start with. I'd like to get into something I can expand. I was thinking about starting with a wheel and pedals, but I want something I can expand to a shifter, hand brake, some auxiliary controls.

 

So far as I know. I’m interested in Steam now as FFI - FFVI (final fantasy) is being released soon.

 

In this scenario, I prefer option 2 with a Steam Link console. I've never been a fan of the apps on any of the Samsung Smart TVs that I've owned over the years, not even the premium models. The console is discontinued, but can still be found online. I used to use the Steam Link console myself, but I moved on from it.

The Steam Link console, which supports bluetooth controllers, can emulate game console controllers (PS, XBox, etc). The next best option, if you already have a laptop, is just stream to the laptop instead with the Steam Link app.

 

If it's available on PC or WiiU, I know what to get my wife for her birthday.

The remastered Duke Nukem was on sale a few weeks ago for 75% off (Xbox), so I sprung for it.

I haven't grabbed it yet. I'm in the middle of another game at the moment. I'll probably grab it after unless it gets a sale.

I didn't know about it. Looks like it's on Steam, too. Gonna have to grab this one too so that I can go kick ass and chew bubblegum.

I’ve already got the Platinum trophy for it back on my PS4 Pro. I might check it out on my PS5. I heard it runs great on there.

 

Question for all you gamers(PlayStation). So I bought my kids a PS5 for Xmas. We have a PS4 that I have like 3 years left of the PS plus left on. Can I sign on to the PS5 with the same info as my PS4? Will they be able to play online with both consoles? Sorry I know nothing much about gaming and searched the web but I’m getting confused.
