Video Games

Dam*. I think I jinxed myself, the Resident Evil games all went on sale on Steam, which I just bit on 5 titles (just the main games) that I still didn't have. All were 5 bucks except one, which was $7.99. Proof that I'm a sucker lol.

I've been wanting to replay these anyway, which I'll start next when I wrap up Control (great game, btw).

I still remember back in the day when I used to work grave yard, I would keep the same schedule on my off days so I'd be up all night. I was playing Resident Evil 2 with the lights out for effect. I started to drift off, but then something happened in the game that scared the living sleep out of me. Anyone who's played through it knows what I'm talking about.

 

It's amazing. I literally finished the game, started it all over in game+ mode and finished that back to back, got the platinum during the second run too.

Hmm... $20 and also III remastered for $10. Maybe I'll give it a go first before I jump in to the Resident Evil series, which will take me a while.

Evidently I need to spend more money.

Edit: I've done that play-to-no-end on a few titles and ended up with the Platinum. Most recently with Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost Recon: Wildlands. Wildlands I didn't even try, the Platinum just popped up one day.

 

Imo the ps4 God of War is the only one worth playing through.

 

Wildlands is awesome. I love the extra missions.

mission is still by far my fav! I didn't know it was added, and one day I'm playing and I see the first clue, and I'm like... "wait a second, I've seen this before." And then by the 3rd clue I'm like NO FRICKIN' WAY, and then the theme music kicked on. I was so stoked and jaw-dropped that he killed me before I could respond, and I didn't even mind lol.

 

Right! First pass I was like alright it's gonna be hard, 20 seconds in and I'm dead and got off maybe 2 good shots and I'm like ok, we need to prepare for this. Couple more runs and I had my weapons and a plan figured out and an hour later I had some sweet gear to use for the rest of the game.

 

Side note, did you see the "themed" mission In breakpoint?! That one is also awesome.

 

Yep, I went through the same process, and took me about as long. I think I tried it once again after, but honestly once is enough. Such a tough fight solo, as it should be.

I have one playthrough on the breakpoint main story, but I haven't gone back to it yet. I wanted to wait till after they added the A.I. Teammates before playing any further, which I'm obviously long overdue now since they were added a while back.

And now you have me curious.

 

I'll give you time to Google it and.... I'll be back.

 

Honestly, I'd rather just play through it and stumble on it. Funner for me that way. But I obviously now have an idea with that last hint. I still have the game installed so now I'm thinking I may fire it up sooner than later.

 

So I ended up starting into the Resident Evil series, and the remasters at that. I'd only ever played RE1, RE2 (which I never finished), and RE5. Decided to start with RE0 based on recommended order that I looked up online, and am about half way through RE1. I'd forgotten how aggravating the controls were and had to hook up my PS4 controller which I never do on PC, but other than that I'm having a blast.

 

I'm not saying I'm scared, I'm just saying I need a light on when I play those games.

 

For sure! I've already been creeped out and jumped enough times as it is after 1.5 games. And I remember RE2 really making me jump. I'm sure it'll happen again being that I didn't finish the game, and don't recall much of what I played through.

 

I wish we would get a silent Hill remake. That game gave me the creeps

 

That's where I drew the line and never played those. I enjoy my sleep.

Anyone get the Microsoft Flight Simulator yesterday? Curious how it is…tempted to buy it but the early reviews are mixed

 

102 Gb on the series X. That's crazy big.

 

Resident Evil was my favorite game series until they switched to first person. Completely lost interest at that point. I hate first person games.
RE4 is the best in the series.

 

I’ve always wanted to go back and play the RE series. Maybe someday. Right now I’m playing Zelda Skyward Sword on switch and Ratchet and Clank on PS5. I’m going back and forth, ha.

 

I recently found out that they made a new Contra game called Contra Returns for the mobile gaming. Gameplay is good so far.

 

Yeah that was an interesting if not strange decision. Makes me wonder if they were trying to attract a larger audience since FP, and shooters in general, tend to be the norm. I used to be a huge fan of Command & Conquer, but I quit after C&C 3 when it got a console release. The controls just weren't the same from that point on.

Cool, can't wait for RE4 now as I never got to that one. After never finishing 2, I didn't touch 3 and 4 and jumped straight to RE5 when it released on the 360. I didn't know ahead of time that it changed to a shooter. It actually wasn't too bad, but obviously its predecessors were far better.

At least you have a PS5. I gave up trying to get one earlier this year and put the money into my PC after I managed to score one of the current GPUs (RTX 3070). I haven't looked back since, and I've almost exclusively gone back to PC now, and have only fired up my PS4 for exclusives. But I did have to get one of the Res Evil games for PS4 as it wasn't available on Steam (or PC in general, for that matter). Gotta love those Steam summer sales, I think I got all the Res Evil games for less than $20, and the remastered versions of the earlier games at that.

 

The PS5 isn’t anything to get in a hurry over. I got both the PS5 and the XBox Series X and I’m still playing last Gen games almost exclusively. Nothing has come out for either system that is worthwhile in my opinion.
The graphics upgrades for a couple of the games were nice, but didn’t really affect my enjoyment at all. I’ve zero interest in the very few actual next gen games. (And there’s barely any to begin with.)

 

Same here, played the miles morales on the ps5 for about 5 min then switched back to FF7 remake. On my series x warframe looks much crisper and less lag. I still don't think the new consoles are worth it yet but I also tried for weeks until I was able to get them so I'm not one to talk.

 

I got lucky and didn’t have to jump through hoops to get them. My daughter stumbled across the Xbox at a Walmart in BFE, and I got the PS5 on a Walmart drop. I did play all the way through Miles Morales, but other than that I’ve been playing the same games I’d be playing if I hadn’t gotten them.

I’ve honestly been playing the same games for several years. Ghosts of Tsushima was the only new game I even cared about last year. Last of Us 2 was ok, but I didn’t finish it because the story and characters were garbage.

 

Agree with this. Literally the whole reason I got a PS5 earlier than most is because

a) I made some $ off of DogeCoin, and
b) found a guy who sold one - at a bit of a markup to be sure, but still.

It's nice to have, but TBH the biggest most exciting part about it are some of the itsy-bitsy features - e.g., being able to play Spotify while playing a game, being able to play/pause a few games; etc. I could have easily lived w/o my PS5 till now.

Currently splitting my time between GoT and BoTW on the Switch. LOL

 

I still play State of Decay 2 90% of the time……
