Anyone else an RPG'er? I play all sorts of games, but get bored quickly with shoot-em-up games. Currently tackling Genshin Impact.

Been playing Outriders for a couple of weeks. I haven’t gotten super far into it, but it’s pretty cool so far.

Look into Escape from Tarkov...it's not your everyday, run of the mill shooter. The main objective is to escape in time...shoot-em-up is secondary. It's really intense and fun but a steep learning curve.

I play a bunch of different genres but currently I'm running through the FF7 remake on my ps5. Before that I finished ghost of tsushima.

I think God of War and ghost are my 2 favorite games for the PS4. I can't wait for ragnarok to come out. I heard they are remastering ff7 for ps5 so I've been slow to play it hoping it will come out soon and I can swap over to that. I'm hardly 15 hours in so it will be easy to start over if needed.

Both of those were great; honestly, I think GoT (Tsushima, not Thrones lol) was my favorite. Aside from maybe FF7 back in the day, it's the ONLY game that actually got me in my feels. The facial expressions when Jin's friend (the one who betrayed him) watched someone being tortured to death; the cries he let out when (if) you chose to kill his uncle....man that was tough.

Good thing they're making a movie out of it. :D

BTW - anyone playing through Assassin's Creed: Valhalla? I've got two thoughts:

    1. It was a slow starter for me. I remember thinking as I was beating up on Kjotve "I hope there's more than this to the game or else it'll be pretty boring." Thankfully there was more.
    2. Did anyone actually review this game for bugs before release? I think I remember a *minor* bug *once* with Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, but man, I've seen tons of them thus far with this - enough so I have an entire album. Favorite one so far was when Eivor was sailing off to fight Rued's clan....the king, Oswald walked up to the boat. Suddenly he was in the sky, walking down invisible stairs to get into the boat.

Man, when he loses his best friend I had to take a minute. I almost didn't want to accept a new one and just walk the rest of the game. It's definitely worth a second play through when I finish ff7

I had to get out of that a while back - not that I don't have the desire, but you know how it is - the older and busier you get the more your attentions are divided. Last time I was able to mod was I think my PS3.
Full disclosure - it's at my mom's house, actually, somewhere in storage. Still works though! I pull it out occasionally (heh) and it starts right up every time.

Man, I forgot about that! Yeah, agreed - I had to walk it off and come back after that scene.

On a related note, my wife doesn't really get into video games much...but I was playing through that game when I'd just gotten my PS5. After watching me play for about 30 minutes, and right after that scene, she asked me "....so when are you going to actually play?"

I told her "Uh....aside from that last cutscene I've been playing the whole time." She was floored - she thought the whole thing was a movie. LOL!

I have a PS3 but never really messed with it, was always more into 360. As for modded, I did the PS mini, NES Mini, SNES Mini, Wii and Wii U, 2DS-XL. Working on just buying a modded OG Xbox soon.

I wish I had more time to play, ha. Working 2 full time jobs so that keeps me pretty busy but I still make time for the PS5, ha.

Yeah, this game was harder to get into. I had to fully realize two things before I got decent at it:

    1. No, you can't craft arrows, FU. LOL
    2. Yes, you tire out so you have to pick and choose your running and ducking.

Once I figured that out and got a bit more 'strategic' at it - AND once I spent more time leveling up (doing some raids, fighting people, etc. to build up my skills) the game got a ton easier. It DOES get better....it just takes some actual work to get better. You can't just spam the sh*t out of stuff like you could in AC:O and acquire a crapload of weapons.

I usually like open world games, but I feel like this one doesn't really have any direction and I have no clue what I'm doing honestly. Still using lvl 1 gear and weapons. I tried to get into it but it just sucks, ha. My opinion, but It was a waste of money.

I can only do one AC a year. It's just such a huge game and I'm the type who leaves no rock unturned. I did odyssey recently and tried jumping right into Valhalla and just got worn out. I'm about 1/3 of the way through and I just needed to move to something else. Once you start dreading certain tasks and missions is when it stops being fun. I'll come back to it though. My favorite of them so far is origins.

Yeah, it felt like that for a while. I'll admit that about 3 to 4 hours in, I read some walkthroughs....and a few of them said "Keep at it until you get the choice to go to England." I did, and once there it picked up some. The end-game, at least so far as I can tell, is to 'pledge' to different parts of England at that time (etc., East Anglia, Leidecestreshire, etc.) and then follow the quests until that area is 'conquered,' taking side quests and going on raids, etc. to help level yourself up.

The funny thing is that as GINORMOUS as AC:O was, it was immediately more engaging. Honestly, I think the fact that we've heard SO much about Greek/Roman mythology (and the fact that our country is in some part based upon principles utilized back then) is a large part of why it's so engaging. The only thing we know about that time period, it seems like, is

    - God of War
    - Viking stereotypes

And that's about it. It DOES/DID get better but it took awhile for sure.

See.. I followed what it said and got to England really quick and now I can't do anything. I get killed so much it isn't even fun. I never explored the first part of the game because I didn't know I could or should yet. Didn't know it would jump me to a whole new world.

I like playing the old stuff too but I like the ones from the arcades back in the early 80's. That's when all the classic video games were starting to get good. I sort of like the new stuff these days but they take too damn long to play. I liked the ones of the 80's since they took raw skill and you had limited lives to start with. You could earn more lives if you were good and the games allowed it. I liked getting my name on the leaderboards and competing with others to keep my name at the top. It took lots of quarters sometimes.

Currently play AC Valhalla on Xbox One,play pretty sparingly but it’s fun. AC origins took me about a year to finish because sometimes I go weeks without playing. I agree with previous posts, it was harder to get into but once you level up it gets easier and more interesting.

On PC i play World of Tanks, I don’t play as much as I used to but after 6 yrs I have a decent collection.

So, assuming you want to play AC:V some more or plan on it, here's what I did once I figured out what the hell was going on. LOL

    1. Single most helpful thing - 'skill points' are how one levels up. Anything to get more helps. FASTEST way to do this is to hunt out the light blue markers. Completing those quests will get you skill points.
    2. If you want to fart around in Norway, go to the menu and hit the triangle button, I think, for 'Atlas' then click over to Norway. Avoid areas that are ridiculously above your skill level.
    3. If you're in England, fart around in Grantebridgescire, Ledecestrescire, East Anglia. Those are the areas nearest to your skill level. Search for loot, fight people, etc. AVOID the animal fights and the Zealots.
    4. If you encounter 'raidable' places (you'll know them - they have those red double-torch icons) via boat, raid them; if on foot, hold down on the D-pad and select 'Start raid'. This will get you raw materials, and that is the *ONLY* way you can upgrade your settlement.

Once you're starting to level up (40 or 50 skill points), find Randvi in the big house in your settlement and choose to 'pledge' to one of the above areas. That essentially unlocks all of the quests for that area; and it culminates in a semi-boss fight, after which you've 'conquered' that area. I found myself inside of a week going from like 30 or so to 105 skill points, and helped immensely.
