Or just longer bolts. If you can find 4 1/2” longer bolts, you will be good. They are 1/2-13 bolts. Please email us regardless, so we can document this as well as make sure you are taken care of.

Good catch.. maybe this version isn’t the tundra one. Previous page, diff on Texas model looks different then the above install.

No offense, but that’s not much help. The one on the right looks bent so it touches, the left appears to have a gap. Could be the pic though. Just asking as mine arrived with a powder coat defect.

Dagnabbit! I figured laser printing would result in exact replicas. Looks like significant variation in this batch. I hope that, in addition to emailing Victory for resolution, you report here so we know how it's going.

The speed of production is Awesome! And the product design looked great in pictures, and some have installed w/o problem (and we all waited and waited for someone to offer us diff skids!). I guess now we'll get to guage how well Victory does customer service. I'm feeling fairly hopeful; so far there's been great communication.

We saw this on the first prototype, the lower bracket welding throws that lower hole off. I'll need to check with engineering this morning. But could you please email tech@jcroffroad.com? We'll want to get your tech issue logged and we can get a solution in place for you today!

Laser is dead nuts. This is from the welding on the lower bracket that causes the bracket to twist. I know that we made a Jig, but that doesn't mean that someone in production didn't skipped the Jig and caused the issue. With new product coming through, there is always a learning curve.

These are going to be some of the growing pains of first product roll outs. We have to work to get the kinks out of the process and procedure to make it more end user friendly. This also the reason we have been doing a ton of local installations of product, so that we can get ahead of potential issues. You will see over time, we make changes and updates to products to make them a better product.

I just spoke with Alex. He said the couple he dealt with that had this issue, he was able to just strong arm it back into place. Basically grabbing the welded bracket with both hands and pulling it apart. If this does not work, or if you don't like this solution, please email us and we can get a replacement sent.

Hi @brimy311. I installed the diff skid last night and ran into one issue - I was only able to get 3 of the 2" bolts through the brackets with enough threads showing for the nut to grab hold. I had to picked up a 2 1/2" bolt from my local hardware store and then was able to complete the install.

There is a bit of a gap between the bracket attached to the skid and the axle tube. If the bracket was flush then a 2" bolt would be long enough but with a gap, they appear to be too short.

This is as tight as I was able to get the bracket to the axle - is this OK?

This is the full skid installed:

We are working through this today. I still need to go verify that we are using the right bolts in these bolt packs. We might have packaged some with the wrong bolts.

The brackets are not meant to clamp together, there will be a gap. We didn't want the brackets to limit how tight you can clamp it to the housing.

Thanks, Brian. Looking at my pict, the lock portion of the nuts just barely grip the bolt so I will need replace all with 2 1/2" bolts.

Do you have an impact? You will want to tighten it down more. The top bracket will bend down on the top of the axle housing.

Here is a random one from the last round of production. Using 2” bolts. Not sure why the bolts are not working for some.

The skid needs to be 100% loose when getting everything started.

FYI: this skid plate is not compatible with the TRD rear sway (just like Victory says in bright red lettering on the product page). I took a shot anyway but yeah, no go.

It *could* be made to work if swung around to the back side of the diff, but not with the standard hardware that comes with the sway. Longer U bolts would be necessary, and a custom spacer would have to be made to push it out far enough away to clear. That's a job (and custom parts fabbing) for another day.

If anyone else finds differently, please post up!

Still as of right now dont know if they are sending me new brackets or if they want me to send the whole package back to them. Shiloh sent me shipping label monday telling me to send the whole skid back. Then i was looking at photos and didnt like how the clamps were looking crooked and asked Brian if i could send it back for a refund and just wait until they had the bugs worked out. He wanted me to try it and so i figured if nobody else is complaining about the clamps being crooked then i would be fine with it too so i decided to try it but i need the brackets and im waiting all day so far today for an answer if they are sending me brackets or exchange the entire package.

I guess the good news about this forum/ vendor relationship is, vendors get an organized group of enthusiastic buyers; forum members get first production runs on products we can't get elsewhere, and both share good info on what's working and what's not. Keep us posted.

I’m glad you put it that way. It’s a growth opportunity and part of intro pricing and getting in early is that the consumers are going to be helping the manufacturer sus out any fine tuning needed. The transparency is a double edged sword, but ultimately helps improve everything after a short period of growing pain.

Just for reference when I install, as I've seen possible hardware packages may be incorrect. What is the correct hardware needed? I have:

    4x 1/2-13 2" bolts with locknuts
4x 3/8-16 1" length bolts with regualr nuts
    7x washers 1 1/4" OD, 1/2" ID
    1x washer 3/8" OD, 9/16" ID

The 2" seem to be what is needed and have been the problem ones, so it looks like I have everything correct.

Also, any torque specs or just crank it down on both sides?

My surrounding plates also line up, I just need some time and decent weather to try to install it now.

Just finished the install..... once you place brackets for the 3rd member. Jack the diff skid plate up to the diff. This will put pressure up and would definitely make the 2” bolts work.

Before I started, I bought 2.25” bolts just in case. But did not need to use them since the supplied 2” bolts were plenty.
