I'm not Marine material and must be a wuss. I'm not drilling into the roof of my Tundra, safe zone or not, for a roof rack I probably don't use that much.

I'm not stupid enough to drill blindly into the roof of my 2014 Tundra, knowing that there is a yuge potential to fuck something up....like drilling into side curtain airbags among other things...just sayin. Lower the headliner first...Never drill blindly into something like that. Has nothing to do about whether YOU need a roof rack or not and being somewhat shy to do so..LOL.... I don't want to go that route either...but some members here do want a roof rack. Rhino Rack folks are literally a 1/2 mile away from my work here in Aurora. I drive by their "racked" tunny everyday. If I was to do the roof rack thing...I'd go there....
You don't want to drill a hole in your Tunny..... Kuul, but why comment here if you don't even want a roof rack??? Dang.....
    :thumbsup:upload_2020-8-28_19-25-52.jpg Welcome from Aurora

WOW. A Marine that thinks something is stupid and wouldn’t do it, I didn’t think it was possible. (Take no offense I’m a retired corpsman and spent 8 years with the Marines)

No. I used to get my pay in cash at Buckley when it was a Air Nat Guard base in 1979. Went to PMEL school at Lowry back then. Still doing Metrology/Calibration but for Transcat now. 41 years later. Google it!
Most of our calibration techs are ex military....

We have a broad scope of accreditation in many areas. We are now the top calibration provider in the country. Canada too. We don't install roof racks though!

Our Mods shut down Victory for good reason. Live and learn. I have a feeling that this issue with Victory could cost them $$$$$$ before every is said and done. Every member here that bought that rack and installed per the Victory vid claiming a drill safe zone and ending up damaging their side curtain air bag has a legit claim.......just sayin...

I would like to say thank you to the OP for posting about this topic. I had a cab rack to install (different brand) and appreciate the warning. I pulled down my headliner to get the holes drilled and bolts installed.
The warning also gave me the idea to put a drill stop on.

Haha Surprised? Well, I haven't been a 2T2 since leaving the Air Force in 2016.
I'm curious, how did you even know?

Looks like the YouTube video has been taken down.

I’m with the OP on this one. V4x4 did a shit job on the installation video/documentation for this product. “Safe Zone” my ass..

On the desktop version, the air Force logo is in your frame and says "prior 2t2." I'm also in, working both en-route and at Travis in the group, so I know a lot of 2t2s...

    13 holes here.

Woulda been 12 if I hadn’t driven into the garage with the ham antenna still on. Hence the little R2-D2 looking droid in the roof.

Also, I’m curious @TwoWheels if it was my headliner instructions you found. I sourced them from others who had gone before me, but it’s fun seeing how info spreads around.

Good on you for sharing what you found out about this.

Oh haha, I'll have to look into the desktop version. It was an excellent experience and I still use what I learned often but I didn't care to be bossed around by someone abusing their power just because they were in a little while longer. That was my introduction to the military.

    Meh... who needs spotters. Lol

I emailed Victory (again) per this post. They called today to say they wouldn’t be doing anything.

I don't know why I'm surprised that they would be so two-faced. At least we all now know to never do business with them. It's a real bummer though, because I would love to support them as a small business, but they went about all of this so wrong.
