I was going to wait for a group buy as well but decided to purchase so my tunes could get done before there was a line of people from the group who were all waiting to get tunes. So the money you would have saved in the group buy you would have spent 2 fold on frustration waiting for your time to come along with 50 other people. At least now you're in early and can get a jump start.

If you have placed you order, download the flash manager for Tacoma and follow the instructions so you can get you registration key. It's a process. So while you're waiting for the kit to come you can get your computer set up.

Lol... I'm sure the wait will be worth it. But, I bet more then just 50 people are going to want this!

Can't wait to hear what you first in line guys think about it.

Ha, that makes sense though. Getting familiar with the program will and not rushing into any mistakes will pay off!

I was one of the early purchasers of the tacoma kit. You are definitely on the money with buying early :) Once it takes off, it goes crazy.

Do you guys that are buying early think there may be some type of handheld device he may sell along with the tune? I wonder if that may be a consideration for waiting. For some reason I remember reading that was a possibility soon. I could be wrong.

I remember reading something about a handheld as well. @OVTune ... Do you know when some type of handheld programmer (no computer required) might be available?

I still use my bullydog unit as a monitor with the ovtune. Might as well get something out of it.

I know that DAP Tuning uses a handheld device. I haven't read (or noticed) any comments by OVTune, but I'm kind of late in my familiarization with them.

When I got his installed, I went to his shop. I never did get a hand held.

Handy, probably saved you a little money. So, this brings up a possible item to ponder. I am pretty sure that I have read here that OV was suggesting that those with the DAP tune installed should probably flash back to stock before flashing to an OV tune, so you may need to revisit the DAP shop.

If you want to keep your other tune for future use.. you better take it off. The ovtune will write over the current tune.. but you will never get it back

I'm ok with flashing over what I have. With everything ov has to offer, you can't really even compare it to what I currently have. Just looking at what was done for the Tacoma was enough to convince me. It's like the difference in going to the doctor and getting treated for a symptom vs going to a wellness doctor and getting the whole body healthy. Lol

I did ask him about that. He said I wouldn't need to. That it his would just replace what I have now.

I'm going to say yes at this point too. Shifts are right on the money and the power delivery is smooth, just less of it right now as I await my first revision post logging.

I think he has mentioned either here or elsewhere(FB) that a hand held would not be able to do anywhere near as much as they can with current tuning platform.

I toyed with the idea of selling my BD, but also use it to monitor stuff as I drive the truck too :)

That makes sense about the handheld. Besides...now I feel like I could be on street outlaws cuz I have a computer hooked up programming my motor. Lol.

the handheld will only do flashing, you can't do data logging and custom tuning. You need a computer and tractrix cable for that (the current kit)

SuperCharged that should be attainable factoring in 18% drive-line loss is around 550crank and what BD advertises. I'd be willing to sacrifice 1-2% of that for a safe drivable tune myself. Peak horsepower interest's me less than a strong linear powerband with good torque.

Received a welcome email from Matt today with my post log's revision and wasted no time setting up and getting it installed. First impression...the power is way up from the base tune and the shifts are firm and crisp. Power comes on strong and linear and the truck pulls like a freight train. Raining a bit here and the roads are wet, however Matt asked for additional logging...not that I am adverse to playing with my new and improved toy either. I could not get the truck to hook up gearlocked in second gear doing a 3-5K rpm pull as he requested with the wet roads, so proceeded to do the pull locked in third gear instead. I almost let off as this thing is scary fast and just kept pulling hard at 80-90mph on the wet road :)

If you are on the fence about this tune...Don't be...Just do it. If your SC and FFV this is a process, not an overnight solution as you will be sending files and log's back and forth until you and Matt are both satisfied with the end result. So far I am impressed with the results OVTune and Matt have made with my SC FFV Tundra.

Well, no supercharger here. Although I'm tempted, knowing there is a viable solution for ffvs.

One thing that bugs me about my current programming is the shifting. It does this a lot less when I'm not towing, but when I've got my camper behind me, and my truck is up to speed, it doesn't want to shift I to a higher gear. If I go over a hill and start heading back down, a lot of the time, have to let off the throttle completely before it will go back in a higher gear. Not sure if that's all normal, but it doesn't seem like it to me. Just another reason I'm waiting for ov

This is great to hear as I was on the fence about adding the supercharger to my FFV. Hearing this, I begin to feel more at ease that I can obtain the power I want and know that I will have a reliable truck that's not throwing codes or pinging that will lead to some sort of premature failure.

I received my revised tune yesterday as well. BUT, I am at the lake, and didn't bring my laptop with me so I will have to wait until tomorrow afternoon to play. :(

@MrMax it's great news to hear your observations on your revised tune and am so excited to get mine in. It's going to be like I just got the supercharger installed again.

@OVTune I sure hope the lack of activity on this thread doesn't make you think there is a lack of interest! When your tunes go live, I would imagine any tundra owner that knows about your company will want what you are offering. Even if you planned to keep your truck stock, you would still want it to run its best.

I assume they are still working on it if he hasn't posted them yet. We are doing my truck via email logs and tune.
