New data logger works. Will data log tomorrow morning on the way to work. Cold start and normal driving -- freeway and city. I have almost 800lbs of gravel on bed again .Low rpm torque is awesome. Didn't really have to use S mode as D mode is good enough for normal driving. Transmission shifts are excellent on Drive and Tow/Haul. Feels solid on low rpm's. Truck is retaining gear lock feature.

This is good to know. I never use S mode. I just want to put it in D and drive.

Ive never like tow mode, but maybe I'll try it with the new tune

well unless you run 87/91 map switching with tow haul... then you cant switch until you have tank full of 91 then you can put it in s-mode w gear lock

If you are running an older base SC tune I would venture that there is much more power to be had. Matt said months ago when I mentioned it that the base SC tunes sent are down on power and very very safe. Power to be added after he see's some logs. I felt a very noticable increase after the first couple of sets of logs and revisions. I am on revision #5(2.0 TCU) tune now and its the best yet.

I went from N/A OVTune to S/C'd OVTune, so my perspective is pretty askew.

I dont plan on switching. Thats dumb. I installed a 91 tune. If for some reason I cant find 91, I flash the 87 tune

Being SC for a few years now and not having that option I always keep a can of Boostane behind the back seat. .26oz per gallon and 87 becomes 91 :)

Dumb... After all the trouble you've had with your computer, it might be dumb not to!

2-3 years down the road, your computer doesn't work and you are out somewhere there's no choice but to run lower octane... Then you will have the ability to switch to it. To each his own, but if you don't plan to ever use the tow button, you might as well!

I havent had any truoble with my computer. Its a brand new laptop dedicated to running truck utilities like tech stream or OVtune

The problems that Ive been having have to do with OV Tune software

I am certainly not going to put something on my truck where I have to remember to hit a button every time I start it

well I have 0 issues with my computer, and I have multiple software's for vehicle troubleshooting to include techstream, OVtune stuff, and some additional software for using an OBD cable for Ford and chevy's. And that laptop is always in my truck, I can troubleshoot or tune any time any where

Sounds like you know what you want to do. I don't plan on taking my laptop everywhere I go. And pushing a button until I get 93 octane again doesn't inconvenience me.

Alex, computer trouble is a pretty general term. My point was if you were not able to flash your truck when you needed to.

I cant even remember to turn off traction control. Then when I realize I forgot it I have to wait until there a place for me to stop.

And when I'm off road I might turn my truck off and back on 20 times in a day.

I want to start my truck and drive it. Not have to remember to push a button

My laptop is just as reliable as your tow button

That’s how I’m having mine setup too. Get in, start it, shift to D and I’m set. Only function I want the tow/haul button to serve is a map aimed at towing with the same octane as the main tune. At this point I’m not certain I even want the gear lock feature active either.

exactly. Make it function like a normal truck but with whatever octane you want. Gear lock sounds nice and all, but I didnt buy a truck so I could manually shift it

This reminds me of a recent purchase that I made for my ADV bike. It was a dongle that plugged in so that when I'm "off-road" it remembers my traction control, etc. settings for when I shut the bike down and then restart it. Otherwise I would be having to go into the dang Settings Menu and change things back to suit the terrain I'm riding. This functionality would be nice for our trucks. @OVTune Something to see if is feasible in the future. Like the dongle though: Off-road only vehicles would be applicable. On my bike there's still a requirement to acknowledge a warning each start-up though.

Totally worth it! I also went with a larger fuel pump kit from URD for a little extra protection.

Was yours Flex Fuel? Thinking about doing the same thing. My SC was after they started including the larger injectors for flex fuel but the pump is still stock.

It is not flex fuel. Went with aeromotive 340LPH pump. Did a bit of research and its flow rate seemed to stay the highest and most stable of all the options. They are popular brand in the aftermarket subaru world as well.

I have had OVTune on my SC for a good 6 months, I believe, and was the best upgrade ever. Power is slow at first tune, but comes on hard in the later tunes. I believe I am on #8 or 9 update.
