Actually sending us the ECU is guaranteed way to get it supported. We have had a few people send us ECUs when there were no other ways to obtain the data

@OVTune I'm starting to wonder if I replied to myself or zendesk... I sent logs and description on October 1st and think I responded right, but now I'm doubting myself.

I am getting them, just working on a few transmission params on our truck that we need to wrap up so that we can release that to everyone who has sent us logs.

We definitely don't want this to be a gradual / forever updating process. Since our updated transmission params are almost ready we will have an update for people who sent us logs or have been updated a few times here soon.

    The transmission update covers
    - pretty extensive remapping of the shift tables
    - fixing gear hang problems this truck has especially hanging in 4th
    - expanding torque converter lock up sequences in every gear
    - expanding torque converter lock up sequences specifically in 5th / 6th
    - finalizing our highway dedicated mapping for mpg.

and then our flex fuel stuff some time in december. (that will just be applied on top of the persons current tune, it doesn't require a whole new round of custom tuning)

This should be nice. My transmission does things I don't understand. Not good nor bad, I just don't...get it.

Makes you a sandwich and doesn't ask for anything in return?

I know what you mean though. But I didn't understand what the hell it was doing sometimes with the stock tune.

Are these transmission updates going to be included in the base tune? Because if they are, then maybe I will wait to install the base tune until they are incorporated. I really dont want to deal with funny shifting and I have heard the base tune doesnt shift well.

I would say the base tune is going to be better (firmer) than stock. Plus, im pretty sure OV will want you to pull logs with the base tune to get a baseline of readings from your truck.

    Just my 2 cents.:spy:

I have friends who dont like how the base tune hangs at higher RPMs. It sounds like Mat is working on improving the shifting for all tunes. So I was wondering if these improvements were going to be added to the base tune. If so, I will wait for those to be added.

A little of this and a little of that. Its pretty run of the mill.
It would be great if we could skip the base tune but so far, my experience has been following what seems like a playbook. Base tune that has weird shift points to shift points adjusted without any of the specific functions I wanted. I’m hoping after my next set of logs, I get a tune with fine tuned shift points AND addressing throttle limits in 4wd.

Mat has said in this thread that he can remove the throttle limits in 4wd. But I have yet to see anyone confirm that he has actually done this.

Thats the one and only reason I bought this product, so I hope he comes through for us

Yes everything we develop gets incorporated into new base tunes, and current versions of custom tunes for customers.

Yes we have already done that for a few people already. request it in your ticket and we add it

    see above ^^

all things we develop we incorporate into base tunes and updates of tunes for current folks. (with exception that any flex fuel stuff you don't get if your truck is not flex fuel).
We have a pretty large patch that we are working on which will likely be the last major patch / update for 2007-17 trucks.
2018 is a bit special so that will get some additional / new things in the future.

We want to wrap up that development we are doing now, so that we can update everyone and have everybody on the same page.

    Hopefully this makes sense.

What is being worked on for the new patch:
    The transmission update covers
    - pretty extensive remapping of the shift tables
    - fixing gear hang problems this truck has especially hanging in 4th
    - expanding torque converter lock up sequences in every gear
    - expanding torque converter lock up sequences specifically in 5th / 6th
    - finalizing our highway dedicated mapping for mpg

    Engine portion:
    - patched code for fuel control (small update to our current fuel scheme)
    - Flex fuel Code overhaul
    - Ignition code overhaul for flex fuel trucks
    - An overhaul to the code and mapping allocation to our current Map Switching code. (we are revising table size and axis data so that it functions better at higher load)

new logger is fully working, we just have one last finalization for ISO 15765 so we can get higher speed logging and then it's ready to go. likely before the end of the week

@OVTune is changing the throttle response one of the parameters you can tweak? Looking for more sensitive than stock but less sensitive than stock tow/haul mode.

Oh wow. This sounds exciting, I'm looking forward to getting to experience proper tunes. I hope that my wonky CEL and those misfires aren't going to be issues that keep me from experiencing the cutting edge of Tundra Tuning.

    Edit/Additional:
Well, I'm pretty sure now I think I know why I got the misfires. I moved left to pass on the Interstate, and when I glanced back into the passenger side view mirror, it looked like I was rolling coal. I suspect that the open-loop map of my tune is running super fat. The inside of the tailpipe is really sooty too, I've never seen it like that. I was going to try to get logs, but I've once again been thwarted by a Windows Update, neither @OVTune's data logger nor TechStream are working for me.

There will have to be another day....

So I went out today to try to enlighten myself a little about what might be going on.

I drove the truck up to operating temperature, put it in 4WD for some launches, and adjusted my passenger side view mirror to better see the tailpipe area. What I was able to discover, was that maybe I was a little premature in my assessment of what may have been going on before. Today the truck launched strong, there was only a slightly noticeable puff of dark from the tailpipe on up shifts, and it felt strong up to the shift-point (in Drive). I think that maybe I just hadn't given enough time for the tune to acclimate as I was being pretty cautious up until today where I mashed it from a dead stop up to 80 mph (five above the speed limit the the test area). No misfires, no power loss, and no blackness from the tailpipe! Today was a good day....til the Low Fuel Light gave me the "ding". :spending:
