Valhalla shield contact.

He was last active on the forum on Thursday. So he’s seen all the people pinging him across several threads. He’s just ignoring everyone at this point and it’s pretty disgusting

 

Ooof. So I went to PayPal to send a cancellation request - and they just straight up refunded me before putting it to a dispute status even. That doesn't bode well for PayPal keeping an account alive much longer.

 

When I reached out to Valhalla through the website a couple weeks ago asking what the lead time was, I got a reply stating 3-6 weeks for a 2020. Sounds like that isn’t even close…

I ordered from Talons and got the plates in less than a week. Going to install when the weather gets better.

 

Same here. Placed order paid in full and communication stopped. Waited 3 weeks with no response. Put a dispute on my card they gave me the credit back and a few days later got a cancellation email from Valhalla.

Love my Talon skids. Came out like $160 cheaper and shipped same day.

 

Just filed my credit card dispute as well, will be hopefully resolved shortly.

Very unfortunate for Tyler, I was extremely surprised to discover his background and why he doesn’t want to communicate with individuals who are willing to buy his product.

Now, hopefully, my relationship with Vallhala’s Shield is concluded.

 

You know, personal stuff is a reason to sometimes buy from someone when all things are otherwise equal, but at this point, the man's just doing bad business and not right by his customers. Backstory drama doesn't excuse ... can't even call it poor communication, it's completely absent. You blow off friendly, patient customers with legitimate questions after they give you their money, you can't squeak by with excuses anymore, you know?

 

Well exactly. I'd expect my closest friends to go somewhere else @ this point.

 

You guys should look into Catalytic Converter Shield - 2007-2021 Toyota Tundra | Cat Security™ (getcatsecurity.com) as well. Probably get it in less than a week if outside of California.

 

I was able to get my shields from this guy a while back, it took a while but I eventually got them, my…talk about a business that you can’t handle all the orders, you have so much business that you can’t do it all and can’t stop taking more orders, I figured by now that he’d have this down pat, I guess it’s every business man’s dream to have more work than you can ever handle

 

I got mine from him as well. Build quality is great, but to be honest, the reason I bought from him was simple - he was pretty much the only game in town at the time, aside from homebrew stuff.

Now? Others are doing the same thing as well, but cheaper AND faster - AND they communicate with their clients. I mean, given the choice between the dealership that sells me a Tundra....and the other one that'll sell it to me for cheaper, AND faster, AND they actually return my calls? Obviously, I'm going w/the latter.

 

What is the story of his background? I haven't seen this anywhere.

 

I would buy from him again. It's a bummer for the people that are having a hard time getting a hold of him. Always has great communication with him.

 

Weather or not, it doesn't take much time to install them.
I even had the TRD skid plate to work around.

It certainly takes the stress out of parking your truck in a public parking lot..

 

I am one of the Valhalla customers who bought from Tyler and supported him in the past when others were warning about his lack of communications. I encouraged folks to have patience and wait for their plates. These recent developments have caused me to regret my support and to apologize to those folks I advised to have patience.

I was, and guess still am, a fan of his work, but I think he just got in over his head.
He was also at the mercy of the supplier and getting the product powder coated and shipped.
Wrapping up and shipping these plates is no easy task in itself.
Maybe if he would have hired a friend to help him out, IDK.

I ordered Vahalla plates on 1-28-2022 while my truck was at the dealership awaiting cat parts since 11-19-2021.
The plates arrived separately around 5-20-2022 and that was after several requests for updates.
My only saving grace was that I didn't get the truck back from the dealership until July 2022.
I installed them the day I brought the truck home.

If I had to purchase plates right now, I'd go to Talon..

There's more of his post this morning stating struggles with personal life and mental health.

I even replied to him to post on this forum and let his customers know. He said he did. But maybe on another thread.

I guess count me it, too. Ordered 30 Jan. Not a single communication, to include filling out his "Contact Us" page multiple times with my order info. I don't need much, just a "hey there, I've got your order and will get it done XXXX time frame."

 

I am in the same boat. I purchased my shields in December and was promised it would ship the end of January to go out in the next batch he was working on. Then turned into mid Feb then he just stopped responding. If he can ship within the next week great, but I'm over it. This is exactly why I use Paypal to dispute and get my $ back quickly. Tried to support a someone in my hometown but seems to be backfiring. He shouldn't be charging anyone until the product ships anyway.

 

At this point, I would not.

No hard feelings, and I’m not into dogpiling people, but I was told things that simply weren’t true while I waited, and there are other, faster, more reliable options with zero communications issues. They’re just plates.

Related question: If you got your money back from your CC due to zero communication, does VS still keep the money you paid? Or does the CC then go after VS directly to get reimbursed themselves? How does that work?

 

From what I understand, to be eligible for direct credit card payments, you have to have a bank account that money is placed into. If you pull it back out, so do they. Their funding reversal is pretty much bidirectional that way. I assure you the bank never loses.

 

Filed dispute with my CC Company (Citi) for lack of service with explanation I made 3 good faith attempts to resolve the issue: no response from vendor. Below is what Citi responded with:

• We'll contact the merchant on your behalf and let you know the outcome of our investigation.
• In the meantime, a conditional credit for $725.00 will post to the primary cardholder's account within the next 2 business days.
• The merchant has up to 45 days to respond, and we may ask you for more information. Please hold on to all supporting documentation for 90 days.

This. With all of that said, once he gets to the point where he's a valid competitor, in quality (already there) and time (obviously has some catching up to do), I'd have no issues spending my money there...but until that point I'd consider a competitor.

 

Mental health doesn't seem to be an issue at the moment if he is out racing cars. If he does have that going on, he's putting others at risk while racing. Sounds like a typical case of getting in over his head, lot of our money in his hands and playing around for a while before getting back after it. I almost ordered the CatShield in December until I read this forum and ended up making the mistake of purchasing from Valhalla. Be careful who you guys recommend and support, because it got me into this. I just hope I don't lose $725 over this! Filed a dispute with PayPal, they are giving him 10 business days to respond. If no response, then I have to wait 5 business days to get my money back in my bank acct. So that will be 4 months or more of this b.s.!

 

He said in his "coming back" thread that he responded to everybody. Hopefully he reaches out to you and expedites your order or refund. I personally bought a Desert Eagle plate back when this whole cat thieving shit had started. He told me I could buy directly from him but it'd be a while or I could drive to the Toyota dealership in Katy and buy it there (I did that). If I had bought from him, he wouldn't have charged me until he had the plate ready which is something I would've been a lot more comfortable with.

Hopefully this all works out for you. 98% of the time, this forum gives out some great advice and the moderators do a pretty good job of weeding out the bad actors.

 

I hope you are right. My only issue, and I have repeated this to him, is that I spend half the year in Colorado and I leave May 1st. Considering this won't have a resolution for up to 10 business days, and having to buy another from someone else and get it installed, I can't have him come back to PayPal and say he will ship, and jack around for a few more weeks and I'm not here to receive the shipment. This has caused way too much stress in my life, afraid to drive my truck anywhere in Austin where this is a serious issue. So I've basically been grounded waiting for this to arrive. Furious doesn't even scratch the surface. If I wasn't dealing with a recently torn meniscus and on crutches, I would drive to Houston and take care of this face to face.

 

Yeah, that sucks (not the spending half the year in Colorado, that sounds pretty nice). I hope it all works out for you. Talons Garage seems to ship them out pretty quickly - maybe if you can get the dude to refund immediately, you can get them to expedite a shield to you.

 

Talon shipped my Tacoma one in a few days. Ordered the FJ plates last night should have by the end of week. All the plates from Talon were the same 1/4 Aluminum that Valhalla sells.

 

I'll check out Talon. Haven't heard of those. Yep, I have work in Colorado, so I can't hang around for a sheet of metal to maybe ship for real this time.....
