Valhalla’s Shield theft deterrent/skid plates info and ordering post

It is already in other builds, it doesn’t get much attention so I don’t update it too much

 

Gotta question--is the rear plate by itself a deterrent?

 

I would suggest the front cat plate if only buying one

 

Supposedly it’s doable with an RCI skid, but it’s a pain, similar to TRD skid.

 

Installed mine today. Front and rear with TRD engine skid and Slee sliders. Install took 2 hours. I really didnt have any of the problems i had read about with the TRD skid. I sanded the plates, primed them, and painted them aluminum color. Yes they are the 1/4 aluminum plates. This way i wont see dings right?
Thanks for the great plates. Headed out west in a few weeks to pick up my AT Overland camper and now dont have to worry about scaly wags stealing me cats!

Yep, as said before, doable, but equally a pita like the PRO plate

By the way, that pic is before it was snugged up. I went through the wheel well with a few extensions, a u joint, and a mid length socket. That passenger side one was the only pain. I used the carriage bolts that were already on the rci plate. It would probably have been easier using different bolts so you could tighten from the bottom.

 

Knowing how tight and bad that turn is right outside your gate, I am still amazed that you are able to hitch this trailer and all and still make it through every time.
Ditching the TRD skid plate as I am OCD and wanted to have the whole set, and that 2WD issue would apply to me, until I can figure out how to mod it to a real 4X4..... which at this point people are telling me to forget it....

Are there 6 cats on the tundra? I thought only 4…2 front and 2 rear, hence the front and rear protection plates?

You are on the edge of the batch I have or the batch that is getting made. Assuming I have it, it will ship this week or next week (I have a lot of plates to ship). If I don’t have it, it will be ready about December 1st

 

When this thread first started, I thought "maybe I should do this".
But then nah, I'll be ok.

Today at work in Mesquite Texas at the UPS hub I work at, my cats were stolen at noon.
In broad fu(king daylight in a crowded parking lot.
How do I know it was noon?
My Drone app notified me of a stage 2 alarm triggering at 12:08 PM.
Stage 2 is something got shook or bumped.
I was already on the road to Louisiana in my work vehicle.

I got off at 22:20, and as usually remoted started my truck as I walked up to it.
I thought 'DAMN that can't be my truck'.
But as I got closer, I knew what happened..
I was and am still pissed..

Point 1:
I'll be buying these after I get it fixed.

Point 2:
If you're on the fence about buying these, even more so in a metropolitan populated area, do it before you get fu(ked like I did.
I have no doubt if they would have seen these shields, they would have moved on.....

Hopefully I can get these installed with my TRD Pro skid plate.
That is really the only thing that held me back from buying them in the first place..
Some said that had a hard time getting them installed with a TRD skid plate..

Was/Is there a weight comparison of the stock/OEM skid plate (NON-TRD PRO) and the new aluminum Valhalla skid plate? Was interested in grabbing one and any additional weight reduction would be greatly welcomed

Also, update/status on ETA for my powdercoated Z-brackets?

 

Do you have a definitive ship date for the plates ordered in August?

Just picked my Pro up from my mechanic. He installed my plates.

As I don’t have a physical plate to test weight from, I can give you an assumption,
3/16 aluminum front skid plate about 25 pounds
1/4 aluminum front skid plate about 35 pounds

as for your brackets, they are shipping this week, I got a small batch of the black aluminum last night with more coming.

This week, early next week at the latest
