Just to give you an idea of how much aluminum I had cut, this entire crate is filled to the brim with unbent plates. I am going down this afternoon to pick up all the 3/16 aluminum and some 1/4 aluminum.

:spy:Hoping my shiny aluminum shows up next week!

I ordered the pentagon bolts as well. I have a question-

I received 4 of the tapered washers from the outfit linked earlier in this thread. How many do I need to for the whole installation?

:spy:(Future Panicman reports you need 4 tapered washers for this installation, because for this installation only 4 of the boltheads emerge from the plate):spy:

I assume people are using these to protect the bolt heads against traditional damage, but also to prevent other tools from being used to try to get the pentagon bolts loose.

Just wanna say: @Classy63 Tyler you the man! Picked up mine last week, and for those not in the Houston area, his place is in the middle of a gated area, but he's just surrounded by them (it was so many turns to just get to him, my GPS might have freaked out at one point....). He's got this massive place (well, his wife has horses....) and you have to be let through the gates to get to the gold mine, aka plates.
Tyler totally blew my expectation, both plate quality and personality, for some reason, I had a very different image of you from all profiles and communication....lol But he's so nice, and coming from a supervisor of customer service team, he's top notch in that field (but y'all know that already)....
I am waiting for that Taco friend to clear his garage so we can work on it next weekend (he's stripping down a 2017 Honda Civic Type R for sell) and he's willing to meet you when you are ready to do the Taco measurements.
Thanks again Tyler! Once I get my finance under control, front skid is next.

I grew up in Prestonwood, not far from Cypress Creek. We used to walk Cypress Creek and find old Native American pottery shards, spear points, and bird points.

Long story how I wound up in rainy grey Oregon… but I’ll admit, fun to imagine my Valhalla plates getting made a spitting distance from where I grew up.

Question it comes with all the bolts and everything needed to put it together right?

When you say that the bolt protector needs to be trimmed/cut, do you mean that the hole just needs to be drilled out/opened up? If you already have the other 6 bolts (like I'm inferring you do), then I don't think the other 2 bolts would matter, unless you're just OCD about it. I'm looking for an official answer, too, as my bolt protectors are in transit to me, but my plates are not yet ready/finished.

According to @21Tundra3R3 from this post, you need the following (a total of 8):

    2 - 3/8" to 7/16" Bolt Head Protector (B4WBHP76)
    4 - 1/2" to 9/16" Bolt Head Protector (B4WBHP98)
    2 - 5/8" to 3/4" Bolt Head Protector (B4WBHP1210)

However, according to @DaddyPete from this post, the 1/2" bolt protectors do not fit when used for the bolt that connects the rear plate to the Z-bracket. I'm waiting for others to confirm, as well.

Something I have been considering to make installation simpler and more uniform with the pentagon bolts is replacing all the bolts except for the 3/8’s bolts with 1/2” bolts.

Simpler sounds better for both the production side and consumer/installation side. If the existing 3/8 can't also be replaced with 1/2, your plan sounds like the best plan.

    [unsolicited opinion]
Were you ever able to make progress for sourcing the bolt head protectors? I can imagine a single 'security uplift' package with pentagon bolts + bolt head protectors. I don't think someone worried about the uplift would feel any need to mix and max options just to save a buck.

Wondering if the bracket could be cut with square holes to match a specific carriage bolt, and the exposed side could just be a carriage bolt head. Other places in the scheme it obviously wouldn't work, but I'm wondering if it would here. Totally blowing out Tyler's intention for simpler installation...
