I have a lot of 3/16 aluminum getting done now, and more next week, hard to tell where you fall, but worst case scenario, the first week of August

Tyler, are these considered V3? Mine is 1/4" as well.

 

Not V3 yet, but has some changes that V3 will have

 

I removed the small factory plate under the T case and then put the rear plate on ,but it just touches to bottom of the T case still. Any way to shim the rear plate just a hair more so its NOT touching the T case?

 

Did you use the square spacer(s) at the back of the front plate (front of the rear plate)? Order should be bolt, washer, front plate, back plate, square spacer(s), frame, washer, lock nut. There are two 1/8"spacers if steel and one 1/4" spacer if aluminum, I believe. This should provide the "shim" you are looking for.

 

Did it exactly the way you said. Front plate, rear plate ,spacer at the top. I only used hand tools to tighten everything to. I think the slight noise i hear while driving and while idling in gear may be because of the plate touching the bottom of the T case not totally sure if that's the cause though.

 

I would agree that you are likely still touching. I can either send you a guess at spacer or you can simply stack some washers for some extra distance. This is a problem that the new plates SHOULD have ironed out.

while under the truck, another thing to look for is if the rear plate is bowed up in the middle, I am finding that my previous plasma cutter didn’t always bend the brackets as he should and it would cause an issue where the “Z bracket” and the plate wouldn’t meet up correctly causing the rear plate to bow up as the Z bracket bows in. This bow up causes the rear cat plate to come in contact with the plate much easier

 

I figured i would try a few washers with the spacer and see if that works. The was a decent gap between the Z brackets and the rear plate was prob 1/4 - 3/8 in gap. Should the Z bracket touch the plate B4 the bolt is tighened?

 

Generally is should be close, but as you tighten it if it starts bowing then it is too much. I have recommended adding washers between the z bracket and the rear plate if it is indeed bowing the plate

 

I may loosen the bolt from the plate to the Z and see if that helps and if it does ill use washers or a nut to take up the gap. Thanks again.

Nicked myself on the edge of one of my plates yesterday messing around under the truck. Tyler, if possible, you may want to hit the edges on those 1/4” Al plates with a grinder before shipping. Mine apparently has a lot of burrs and sharp flashing.

 

Probably lose gas mileage w that approach. Also the blood trail left by the thieves would justify the money spent on the plate knowing they left without it.

 

Another fault of the previous plasma cutter, we cleaned them but I doubt we got everything, the new plasma cutter fixed this
