Hi Ryan - I had the same concern but since we are in OR it’s less of a concern because we don’t have the salt on the roads like the Midwest or East Coast (unless it is used down south where you are located). I ordered bare plates and plan to use either nylon or neoprene washers to provide some separation. Will there be some galvanic corrosion? Probably yes, but not not enough that I am concerned about. Also, if after a couple years it appears to be an issue I could then pull the plates and paint them.

Did you read the entire thread before ordering? If so, you should have seen where he was transparent with how long it was taking. You have no leg to stand on to complain about the time it's taking to ship. If you didn't, you should have before ordering.

Absolutely, been up on every message. Is clearly over the “about a month +/-“. I’m not really being critical of Tyler for I know he’s doing his best and making a quality product. Just venting a bit of frustration due to being out 1k for not being able to take the truck / boat on a long planned vacation trip.

I aim for about a month, do I always hit it, heck no…. If my plasma cutter didn’t pull what he did, I was going to start catching up fast…. Once I start up again, I am willing to bet I will be able to get more cut out faster. Powder coat isn’t a problem anymore and bare aluminum is damn near at a month. I have some powder coated orders that fall below that, but I am getting there. But this is because before my plasma cutter quit, I was forcing aluminum through. And steel was next.

I am a bona fide customer of Tyler’s. You will be hard-pressed to find better customer service anywhere. Delays in ground shipping are at historic record levels. Materials. Logistics. Labor. All are running at red line, when they can be found in any quantity. My advice for those who own a tundra, get your cats protected. It’s only a matter of time till this thievery behavior comes to your neighborhood.

    @Classy63
Hey Tyler. I am thinking of picking up a few of these bolt head protectors for the installation of my full plate set. (Credit where credit is due... @El Two is using them on his skid plate.) I like the idea of protecting the bolt heads, but they will also prevent the use of vice grips on the pentagon security bolts. Do you see any issue with these fitting on the plates or bolts. For the full plate set including the engine skid plate, should I pick up 4 or 6?
    Thanks!

I just looked those up, not a bad idea at all! The bad news…. You could only really use those on the 3/8 bolts….

something I have been thinking about for version 3 is going to all 1/2” bolts or 5/8” and 1/2” bolts.

Meant to attach the link to the bolt head protectors as well:

    Dimensions
    Outer Diameter: 2.5"'
    Height: 0.5"

    Bolt Hole: 0.5"

Is your concern that the "bolt hole" being 0.5" means that it measures 0.5" in size and not sized for a 0.5" bolt?

If you get me dimensions for the bolt heads and threads, I'll try to find them in the right size. Made in USA if possible, hardened if possible.

Looking at this picture with the early engine skid, it looks like a total of seven are needed (oval in middle circles two bolt heads):
    Engine Skid: 3
Transmission plate (front cat plate): 4
Transfer case (rear cat plate): 0 - Uses same two from transmission plate in front and rear bolts are on the side of the plate.

If you include the front skid plate, it is 8. Good news, those bolts are staying the same size, even in version 3.

So! I might have a new company that will be doing the plasma cutting and bending. I am really excited to start shoving metal their way

    1/2 4
    5/8 2
    3/8 2

That being said, you could open the holes on the plates to make it 1/2” instead of 3/8. Also, if you got a sturdy fender washer to go on top of the frame, you could ditch the 5/8 bolt for a 1/2”

These are great. As long as they can keep pliers from gripping the bolt head, and provide another minute or two's exposure to someone using a cutoff wheel, they'd be getting their job done.

Not sure he’s back up running again after his cutter left. I’m still waiting for a May order on bare 3/16 aluminum. @Classy63 any update on getting back online?
