So you don't even need to protect factory cats on your truck? I always assumed that you built the first version for yourself and just got sucked into building the plates for the rest of us.

 

I did build them for my truck, but I always wanted headers, makes towing soooo much better

At the end of the day, they are still skid plates too

 

Yeah I have a $100 deductible for comp and $250 for collision. Lowest they offer IIRC. I did some math and for our 4 cars, we would have to go over 3.5 years without a single comp claim combined to save money by going to a higher deductible. Let's see....cat thiefs, hail, rocks in windshields...absolute no brainer to carry the $100.

 

Local news report is reporting that thefts are up 3800% for the region... Wife told me to do something about it... So, I guess that means I can get some of these?! Downside is I need to do something about her Highlander too.

 

It is funny the Highlander being brought up. Until recently I had no one ask me about the highlander, but there have been a few people asking about it

Was talking to my wife about it last night. She puts more miles on her Highlander than I do my truck weekly. She has to run to Dallas a couple times a month where she has to stick it in a parking garage.

 

Interesting. Sounds like there are at least a handful of us with Highlander/Tundra combos.

Is there anything we can do to help with measurements or anything?

Do you have any idea when you will be starting design/fabrication of v3 that will allow for easier transfer case fluid changes? I would really like to buy a set, but kinda waiting for that to happen as I dont want to have to take this plate off to change the TC fluid.

 

I have a concept in my head, that is all I have had time for at this point. It could be a few months before I get there

 

What's the lead time for the bare 1/4" aluminum front and rear?

So, tomorrow I am sending 78 plates to powder coat, I have 6 at 2 other powder coaters right now. If they all turn around everything by next week, like they all promise, a lot of y’all will be a lot happier!

This is something you would think I would know... if I had to guess, about 500?

Right... so I did an ugly and distracted count, it is over 500... and I have another 100 on my trailer, at powder coat or aluminum needing to be cleaned.

I am testing out new help today, doesn’t talk much, but that might be a good thing

 

My count, at least 2.

 

So, I have 24 front cat and 25 rear cat 1/8 plates still at plasma cut, this is the biggest thing I am behind on. I am hoping my next load of steel is ready next week to get really really close to caught up. The following week I should be caught up on aluminum orders as of Monday.

Assuming that everything goes smoothly, after that, I will still be buying larger loads of metal, but instead of keeping up with orders, I will have a stock. I want to have a turn around of about 2 weeks unless it is a special order.

I am hoping weather lifts here in the Houston area at some point so I can design an adapter for BDS lifts and I had another idea for a universal front skid plate for the bigger lifts that I am going to take a stab at while I have the BDS truck here. I will likely make a prototype and invite a lot of people with different 4.5-8” lifts to come so I can make sure it fits all of them
