To be clear I'm not shitting on the design I think this is a top notch product and have place an order. Cost-wise this product beats Cat Clamps and all the other crap out there ($200 to 400 a pop x4) by a mile. This is also much more difficult to get through while it protects your underside so in my mind it is a dual purpose product.

I also grew up in NYC during the crack epidemic. A determined crack head (I guess its meth heads now), will figure out the path of least resistance. I've learned to never underestimate the feral drive of a crackhead. I've seen crackheads work miracles to get a $5 fix, cats fetch $100 on the low end.

I should have clarified. On a front aluminum plate they aren't getting through. Good point on the bolts.

On the rear most plate I could see them cutting the Z brackets (assuming they are aluminum too) and trying to pry the plates out from the forward bolt points ( or attempting to remove the bolts). It turns a 1 minute effort per cat (4 mins total) to a 2 to 3 minutes dicking around just trying to get to the rear cats, that is a best case scenario of 5 mins for two cats. I think the product is doing its job well with those numbers while reducing your loss even if they succeed. You've effectively increased their time and halved the reward... again WORST CASE SCENARIO. They'll probably see the kit and determine it's not worth the effort. Sounds like a winner to me.

The blade used in the video is the "second" best blade you can use. The "Diablo" blade ( I think that is what it is called) can get through much quicker, especially through aluminum. Will it change the outcome? Not by much, maybe a 4 minute job for two cats if it is even possible. Still solid in my book.

You make a good point. I had someone bust the window out of a car of mine to get the hood open where they cut out the battery. Several hundred dollars of damage for a $5 battery core refund at the scrap yard.

I would’ve given them $20 to leave me the hell alone.

I'm sorry to hear that, it is infuriating. It is insane what some people will do. It defies logic and reason.

Drug abuse and difficult personal situations make people irrationally desperate. It’s really mind boggling the lengths they’ll go for little reward.

When I did my test cutting through my plates, I was in fact using a Diablo blade. I have sold probably 300 plates (you would think I would know) and I haven’t heard of anyone getting robbed afterwards.

Please don't kill me if this sounds dumb but hear me out....For those who are worried about someone removing the bolts, can you possible install fake bolts onto the shield that really only bolts onto the shield and nothing else. So drill a bunch of holes on the perimeter of the shield and just put bolts in the holes with a nut that do nothing but give the appearance that it's bolted to the truck. Thieves will see a bunch of bolts and say eff this and move on unless they are reading this forum. And if they do decide to try removing the bolts they would most likely go to the edges first which will just spin.

    I love it.

Add in the "sad trumpet" sound effect any time they touch the wrong bolt

Awesome just ordered front and rear aluminum plates . Salt country here.Is hardware SS or reg steel? Should a Urethane washer be used between bolt head and Alum plate so they dont corrode to each other from the salt? Thanks to all

Wonder if the rear plate can use this (which I bought). If so, I could buy 2 spots - but I'm not familiar enough to confirm if that idea will work.

The rear plate attaches to the crossmember with two 4 inch bolts if thats what you are asking. You would just need to get washers and nuts for the top.
