I have the 3/16 steel with the BDS lift adapter. Took it hard wheeling and it survived.

I'll probably weld some angle iron across, on the top side, like this to give it more rigidity but overall it took it took the beating like a champ.
Was staring at the picture and I just realized the rear driver bolt is missing - guess that snapped off.

Here the weight of the truck was on the skid with 3 wheels dangling in the air.

I would also recommend welding the BDS adapter to the plate as long as you are welding

Better pictures from Ian, I will make a how to, but it is really straight forward.

Thank you @Classy63 for this awesome product. As he said, it is pretty straight forward, about one hour total, from dropping plates to bolting up, assuming you have the tools and are not hunting half way.
I am sure Tyler will mention this, but if you see the picture I had from the rear passenger top angle, it dents down a tad to allow for lifted trucks to be used as well, and even though it looks to have some space, and it does, it would only allow a pretty slim arm to pass through, and that's taking into account that they are not burning their skins off the hot metal, as Tyler, uh, did a tad tonight.... (sorry)
But yea, one slim arm, no way for a tool to get in there without making it extremely difficult and also to cut and drag, I would imagine they would just look and move on.

So for those of you that have the set or at least the back plate and am 2WD like mine, get it. Don't question, just F get it and install it. Oh, and measure twice and cut/drill once. Tyler will explain the details but once you are lined up, it's as straight forward as getting your keys and go for a ride.
For those of you that are on the fence about getting it (minus the '22 peeps, they are coming, Tyler was having trouble getting a real truck to do actual measurements, and that capstone will certain be a piece of work once done), get it. It will be a wait, but it is better than having it sit at the dealer for goodness know how long.

Super pumped that this finally came out, no faults on Tyler's side, things happen but we will plow through it no problem.
Now, next project? Hehe.... I am waiting @Classy63

Dude, you really beat the sxxt out of it, I mean, not just the plate but the truck in general.
Damn, that held up real well and that's one beast of off-roading you have there.

I will, but was talking to Tyler yesterday, and looking at this plate, it sure is "beat up" but held on well...... speaks volume on how well the product is made.
I snapped this picture yesterday while waiting for Tyler to drop the plate and making sure things line up, 1/8 and 3/16 thickness does actually differ, and when you see it next to each other, it makes sense (I am more of a visual learner, this made me realize how different it is.)

Ian and I talked about this yesterday, technically you could install it in the truck, but it would be much harder and getting the vertical plate in between the exhaust and the rear cat plate. I did it yesterday just to do a dry fit, but you can

Blue loctite shouldn't be difficult at all. We use it at work all the time on stuff we expect to take apart later and even then it only works if all threads are thoroughly degreased. If it was red or green though, at that point I'd be pricing new bolts.

I had green break loose a couple months back but it turns out applying 20+ tons compression through 10-32 bolts a few thousand times will do that. Don't know who designed that one but we had to find a new way.

Can someone provide a general update on the 2022 plates?

    I have a 2022 4x2 SR5 crew cab

My order is for 2022 3/16 steel.

I’m just looking for general discussion, not order status. Has anyone installed the 2022 cat plates? Any issues, or concerns related to 4x2, etc?

Also, are any other plates in the works yet for 2022s?

I believe Tyler is a little behind on 22 plates mainly due to him unable to actually get a 22 truck to do the measurements. I think he has one in the works, but I am not sure if it is 4x2/4x4, V6TT or hybrid or capstone.
From what I understand, I think it kinda varies a bit, but very different than 21 plates for sure.

    @Classy63 ideas?

correction: my previous tundra was a 2014, not 2016.

Thanks. Mine is on order. Only one plate available for the 2022 on the website (which I ordered), so I assume this is for all V6 (but not hybrid) 2022s. But that is what Im wondering about — what does that plate apply to and what is in the works?

I wish I was a little closer to Tyler. I’m in Austin, so almost 3 hours away, if I understand where his shop is. Could give me an excuse for a road trip, maybe (and work permitting). I’m looking forward to more road trips, but hesitant to travel in the new truck until I get cat plates and upgraded alarm system, as my cats were stolen on a road trip in my previous 2014 Tundra. Kinda spoiled fun on the trip.

    To add more detail:

    I have a 2022 3.5L V6 4x2 SR5 crew cab with short bed.

My order is for the 2022 3/16 welded powder coated steel.

Sorry to hear the cat loss. He's in Cypress area right off 290, so in reality, 2.5 hours? You could PM him and he's mostly available on weekends (unless he goes racing, his race car is ready....hehe) and should be able to help you either way. He's one man shop so he has less time for forum but he does check phone and PM pretty good.
Beside, FOOD!!! That alone should be a reason for road trip, right @1lowlife

I have the measurements, the plates have been a PITA to get right… It has been a bit of a money pit, but I am pretty happy with the newest one. I am having these cut next. The Hybrid will also be released as soon as I have the first prototype made and test fitted.

I hate how long the orders have been waiting for the 2022 plates, but I want to get it right

Thanks, Tyler. No complaints. And I appreciate your attention to quality.

Are these 2022 plates intended for all 2022 Tundras except hybrids? Or does there need to be a difference for 4x2 vs 4x4, or cab sizes, etc?

I thought about a road trip to Cypress when I ordered mine.
But it wasn't that hard to install.
I think having the TRD skid plate and the nut plate made the installation easier...:D
