Valhalla’s Shield theft deterrent/skid plates info and ordering post

Has anyone sprayed their aluminum cat plates with Herculiner spray bed liner? I am considering doing this but I'm a little apprehensive doing it since the plates sit close to the catalytic converters and exhaust and I've read that Herculiner is flammable. The cats and exhaust put out a lot of heat. I understand that you don't want to spray it near a flame but how about after it has dried?

 

Decided to go with two coats of primer on the inside surfaces and Herculiner bed spray on the outside (visible surfaces).

If I am not mistaken, this is a subframe lift, if so, order the lifted cat plate with the BDS adapter

I ordered mine a week ago powder coated black. I was going to do the Raptor bedliner on them just like I did the TRD skidplate but was worried about the flamability also. I just reinstalled my skid plate yesterday morning after letting it cure for four days and it still stinks like hell.

 

Thanks for the reply. My cat plate bedliner will probably end up curing for a week or more at this point before my skid plates get here. Hopefully, that will give the cat plates a little more time to cure before installation.

 

Just ordered front and rear cat plates. Neighbors were just hit by the cat thieves. Too bad Valhalla doesn’t offer 4Runner plates as well. Had to go with RCI for the wife’s ride.

Is it worth it to put a somewhat pliable barrier between the plates and the truck, or where the plates overlap? Like a rubberized strip or some kind of plastic to keep rubbing paint at a minimum. Or are just the washers all that are needed?

 

I have nothing between my plates without issue, but some have put rubber or plastic washers between. I would probably put rubber washer between if I were to re-install

 

I'm guessing it depends on the thickness you bought, but I'd put something between the plates. I have the thinner steel and it clangs over bumps. If I had one regret getting these it'd be not getting the thick Al option.

 

That's a simple fix. Tighten up nuts and/or use rubber/poly washers between

 

Trying to release the 4Runner/Tacoma plate, I am hoping to get the 2nd prototype knocked out this weekend so I can test fit it on as many different setups as I can

2wd V3 vertical plate is also planned for this weekend

 

According to the Herculiner web site, Herculiner is no flammable once it has dried/cured. Cure time is 3-5 days.

 

I have designed the 2wd vertical plate, I am going to have a batch of 10 made to see how they work out. I will figure out pricing once I talk to my vendors, but all 10 will be 1/8 steel powder coated black

Yeah the RCI wasn't out yet for the 4R so I ended up getting a full set of CBI skids.....better than nothing at all. At least the CBI is made to where I can add to it at some point.

Hell if his works out good on fitment I would even buy one of the 10 test plates from you if you want "field testing".
