I never understood it, they just took them to put on their bicycle to ride around in the 4 block radius they were allowed to. I guess it was like a 'status' thing? .

 

Ordered back in January and got the plates about a month ago maybe and just installed them today. No pics because I was in a hurry to beat the rain but got my engine skid and front/rear cat plates on. God damn this has got to be easier with two people lol

was a real bitch to get the engine skid on with the c4 bumper brackets in the way just due to weight.

I can sleep a little easier now

 

About 4-6 weeks, depends what I have/have on order

Hello, @Classy63 ! I'm looking for a cat shield for '22 Tundra. Can you estimate the time to ship? I'd specifically like 3/16" steel, but open to suggestions.

Posting this here in case anyone has experience with it, I got the plates on, no rattling on the test drive.

But I’ve noticed a little vibration at low speeds and when stopped (in gear). If I put it in park all is good. Not sure if this is related to the plates or not, but you know what they say about coincidences.

Just not sure how/why the plates could cause some nvh unless I did something wrong somewhere.

 

Did you take the small transfer case skid plate off when installing the plates?

 

You mean the trd off-road skid plate that came with the truck? If so then yes.

Well shit…..lol.

 

Now the wait begins. Sorry to add to the backlog sir. I'll have a course to take later this year that's about a quarter mile from where they hang shoes over the power lines. If used car prices weren't so absurd I'd do like Roadhouse and find a $500 beater to drive there

 

The plates are large enough that there is some flex and they will vibrate, kind of like when you shake a cookie sheet. What I did was smack the plates in an effort to see where they'd vibrate and then I took a piece of rubber mudflap that I had stashed and wedged it in the gaps where the plates overlap and where there was a very small space between the plate and the transfer case.

 

After reading this, I think I will spray to top sides of my plates with rubberized paint before installing.

 

Slip some weather stripping under it to silence it until you take the plates off again for a service or something.

 

Well that’s gonna be a while since I did the fumoto valve and motivx stuff to avoid pulling the plates for simple oil changes.

I’ll just pull em and take that little skid off

So, an update on production!

I have a partial load of 3/16 steel at powder coat now, I am supposed to have more ready including 1/8 steel tomorrow, I am also being promised all of the aluminum will be bent and ready next week. I am not shipping anything today, I just finished plowing through all my messages and I am going to start welding aluminum

Hey @Classy63 sorry to bother. Just placed and order for a cat plate. How long do you estimate for a 1/8 plate, bare steel, no welded seam? I'm asking because I have a long road trip in early June to brings me to high cat theft areas. Trying to have a back up plan in place because I don't want to take my truck with no plate. Can't wait to see it.

 

So, what is the consensus on the rock domes/pentagon bolts/other security bolts? What combinations work, don't work together? What is everyone finding to be the best path when installing the Valhalla plates, as far as making it more difficult for scum sucking low lifes to "acquire" our cats?
I ordered the two Valhalla, thicker aluminum cat plates and the pentagon bolts at this point. I just installed the RCI system on my father's Tacoma and the carriage bolts that came with it as hardware were great from the perspective that it would likely take would-be thieves longer to remove and seemed less likely to catch on something passing under the vehicle than an exposed bolt head.
Also, what exactly is the nut plate and should I have that for when I do add the front skid plate at some later time? Disregard this part, saw in the write up that the nut plate idea has been added to the front cat plates already.
