I think I remember this! I think this was the first truck I installed the nut plate on.

Hello. I am not a very active here but i am looking for catalytic shield deterrent. I have a 2019 tundra 1794 edition 2wd; no lift/all stock. There’s also a trd skid plate installed. I am looking on the aluminum red bit i am not sure with one cause i think there’s a front and rear part. Please excuse for the ignorance.

Is the Aluminum front cat theft deterrent/transmission plate enough to cover my catalytic converter. I intend to use my trd skid plate.

Highly appreciate if you could assist. Thanks. Peter

You will need both front and back plate. The optional is the front skid plate, but since you already have the TRD plate, you can make your own call if you want a set or just the two is fine.

The 1st picture (top) is optional and the 2nd picture (bottom) is a must since i will be using my trd skid plate.

I think the 2nd picture is missing. But from that picture above, you need both front and back plate.

    That's OK.
I am just going to post the link of the two plates you MUST have.
    https://valhallasshields.com/shop/ols/products/aluminum-front-cat-theft-deterrenttransmission-plate
    https://valhallasshields.com/shop/o...-convertertransfer-case-theft-deterrent-plate
Make sure when you order, same thickness and color (if so desired.)

    https://valhallasshields.com/shop/ols/products/aluminum-front-skid-plate-engine-skid-plate
This one is totally optional, as some are very OCD (like me) and want a whole set, but if you have the TRD front skid and am happy with it, I would say keep it until whenever you feel like changing it out.
    https://valhallasshields.com/shop/ols/products/pentagon-security-bolts-for-rear-cat-plate-4
This is also optional, some are concerned and will opt for this, but it is not a total required. Tyler will provide you the require hardware without this order.

    Hope this helps.

Sorry, I need to be more active, but I am getting hammered with emails and messages, it is hard to keep up…. I am still 62 emails deep and 7 messages in the inbox here. I have been trying to fight it today, but I can’t get ahead… I am making an effort to power through them, but it is overwhelming.

Tyler, you are but a one-man operation, and if anyone here has half a mind of a business would know that it is nearly impossible to keep up most of the time.
And, that's why most of us who already got your product are more than happy to help out with minor questions. Sure, there is bound to be a few that requires your attention, but rest assure friend, you got an army out here.

Not wanting or needing to distract Tyler from taking care of business I'm looking for a little instruction on installing the front & rear cat shields on my 2015 2WD CM with the TRD Offroad engine skid plate. I ordered the pentagon security bolts from Tyler and the Rock Domes from Rock Hard 4X4. If any of you have done this install would love to learn from you. Naturally, photos are always helpful. Maybe someone posted this before andi missed it.

This may even help others, I'm thinking @1lowlife once he gets his truck back.

    Thank you!

I have your plates, but the Z brackets needed to be redone, I should have them in the next day or 2

First, never be afraid to ask questions! So, on a 2wd, it is SUPER EASY! I have installed the TRd plate and the front and rear cat plates. Not having a big front diff up there makes access much nicer. Without looking at your order, I assume you got the nut plate, remove the rear bolts from the back of the TRD plate. This can be a bit of a PITA because there are retaining washers on the bolts. I have had good success grabbing the retaining washer with channel locks, pliers or anything that will grab them, not your fingers, please. Then spin the bolt and you should be able to get it out of there. Put the nut plate on top and start the 3/8 bolts in the nut plate and then it is all the normal install after that

Thank you! I didn't order the nut plate because I have the lowly TRD Offroad engine skid plate and not the TRD Pro plate. I thought, maybe incorrectly, that I wouldn't need it.

You may not need it. Tyler did mine, and that 2WD he mentioned is mine (I think....) and he didn't have a hard time (I hope...) getting it off.
Of course, if you order the nut plate, more power to you and making the whole process easier, but it is not an MUST item.

Being you didn’t order it, you can just loosen the bolts at the rear of the TRD plate and slide my front cat plate in, then reach up and tighten them up when the plates are all installed. I install front to back and tighten bolts back to front

After 2 1/2 months of waiting my plates shipped today. Looking forward to getting them on. I just did a camping trip with my daughter through WA, OR, ID, UT, AZ, and CA, barely left my truck out of sight in all the parking lots we had used. Our last stop was in Medford, OR to eat at a Black Bear Diner, had to park in the back parking lot where I couldn't see my truck. There were 2 tweakers by the front door asking for handouts. My daughter laughed at me when I realized they were no longer by the door and went out to check my truck. I wasn't only worried about my cats but they would have lived like kings had they gotten in my truck and taken the gear. Thieves are such a scourge.

Got mine installed today! It was very easy.

I chose to not use blue Loctite now. If I find the nylock nuts have loosened as I drive then I'll revisit the idea.

@1lowlife - the Rock Domes are very nice. Thanks for the suggestion! I chose to use the Dome as the washer under the bolt head because had I put a washer under the bolt head then the bolt head would not be as close to flush allowing vice grips to be able to lock on it.

@Classy63 - Such great workmanship! Thank you very much. I really appreciate your help and being willing to answer my silly questions. I can now feel confident leaving my truck parked without worrying about theft.
