Question for everyone is there a major difference in the 4wd and 2wd that warrants the v3? Does the transfer case block the pipes enough to not need a vertical wall?

I've read the posts over and over and I 100% get the vertical wall on 2WD V3.

But to be clear for 4WD V3: there is NO vertical wall for 4WD V3 version, correct? There will likely just be unpopulated holes to attach a vertical wall for 2WD?

Saw the post earlier about waiting for over 100 days on new cats!? That may have sold me on doing this ASAP. Now I'm understanding the "I wish I had ordered earlier" posts.

Ok, break down of V3 to make it all make sense

    2WD
Same plate, just have the option for a vertical panel that can be retrofitted to older plates with a few drilled holes.

    4x4
This will add a hole and a panel to cover it to make transfer case oil changes easier. This also gives alittle more clearance for the transfer case

Here is where both will have new options. Gusseted Z brackets, this will add triangle gussets to make cutting the Z brackets harder to cut and makes them much stronger for off-road excursions

Reenforcement spine upgrade, this I really are as an off-road only upgrade, it will strengthen the span of the rear cat plate by adding a small vertical spine that is welded in from edge to edge.

The 4x4 version is being designed now, the 2wd will be done right behind it.

Did you have to use the nut plate from vahalla or was the fitment just fine with the existing trd hardware. Im contemplating getting the trd skids vs the rci.

I don’t want to commit to a date. But I want to have it designed so I can have it made in the next batch

Awesome! Thank you @Classy63 this cleared it all up I know in our emails I forgot to mention my truck was 4x4 but this clarifies it all and solidifies waiting for the V3.

    Lots.
You dont “have” to use the nut plate at all but it does make it MUCH easier to tighten the plate without having to contort your arm in an effort to get a wrench on the nuts for the front skid. I have big hands/large arms so it was a no brainer for me to spend the extra $20 for the nut plate. Also, I was completely dropping the TRD skid plate anyway to install a TRD front sway bar and Fumoto valve at the same time as the cat plate install.

It’s possible to just loosen the two rear bolts on the front skid plate enough to slide the front cat shield plate under it and then tighten it back up. Many here have done it as the cat plates were sold for quite a while before Tyler came up with the nut plate for TRD skid.

@Classy63 - will this resolve that thing with needing to remove the transfer case tray (to eliminate vibration)? If so, is it a change we can make ourselves (with the right tools)?

I would still advise to remove the factory black plate under the transfer case. As far as a modification that can be done yourselves, sure it could be, but it would not be something I suggest for someone who hasn’t done metal work before. The spine upgrade makes the plate more rigid which will make it better protection for the transfer case off road, the plate just won’t want to flex anymore

I am just curious what everyones experience is with the wait time for cat shields. I ordered from Valhalla a week ago and not a peep. I see that ********* is getting theirs shipped out.

I apologize for the discontent. The sheer amount of orders I have to process, it isn’t realistic to give everyone weekly updates. I do however invite customers to message, email, text me. I will get back to you and update you.

The order you saw that people’s orders getting shipped out this week were from January and the beginning of February. Please hang in there, I am going to get everyone who ordered exactly what they ordered.

I really like the looks of them, but I have to have it installed before the 3rd week of April, and it sounds like that isn't gonna happen.

My plates arrived yesterday. Due to other things going on this weekend I haven't had time to even pull them out of the packaging they arrived in. No idea how long it takes him to bundle up each order, but seeing how mine were packaged, I assume it is a pretty consuming process.
