I have a V1 that I have owned and upgraded for 20 years. My neighbors (3 of them) are all police. I have a county, A city and a DNR officer all next door to me. My home is pretty safe. But last weekend my Snowmobile riding partner and County office said pull that V1 out of your windshield its doing you no good. By the time I have you, its to late. So I am a bit skeptical about his claim. So next Saturday I am riding bitch in his patrol car and he is going to show me how the V1 is useless against his radar tracking system in his new patrol car. Should be interesting. So even if under a false sense of security, my V1 remains inside my Tundra for now.

Interesting discussion for pros/cons. This is what I like about forums - information exchange in a civil manner.

Well I am happy to report out that I will be keeping my V1 in the truck. My friend and I spent a good portion of the day with fixed and rolling radar and while he is good, as long as you have someone out in front of you when he lights up radar you should be able to pick up a warning blip with the V1. If he hits you without anyone in front of you. You are done. There is no time to slow down. There is no reset if he has you. The other problem is, if he pulls you over and sees that you have a radar detector, and ripping it off the windshield and trying to hide it does not work. He will write you up for everything that he can.

But I still think the V1 is your best chance at a countermeasure after playing radar games all day long. It may save your bacon 50% of the time. Proceed with caution my friends.

That stinks. The main place I use it is up and down the I35 corridor, and we have many users actively reporting. Other than that around town I don't really have a need.
