I've only had a few issues with the one in my Jeep, but It's also got water damage from leaving the roof off and driving around in puddles lol. Even then, it was just a matter of replacing the ribbon cable between the HU and the screen. The GPS is pretty sporadic atm, but I'm sure that's also rain water damage from leaving the jeep roof off for months on end.

Gotta say about my only frustration with the unit is that every once in a while. Like every 3 months or so it will do a hard restart, dont know if its updating or what. But all my presets and time etc save and transfer but when it does it my EQ resets to default. Its annoying having to get it back but it only takes a minute. I kinda chock it up to the only negative and well worth the trade off of everything gained.

How has this setup worked out for you since install? It looks really nice

You said the install was a breeze. When I first put mine in I had a gap at the top and it never fit properly at the bottom where in met the hvac controls. I ended up separating the display from the head unit then installing the head unit and setting it back further then attaching the wiring harness ribbon to the display and mount it in the dash.

On the back of the screen itself, it has mounting points that you can adjust up or down to fix the gap. i had to do that on my Jeep.

I could never find the sweat spot. I gave up and separated them.

It works well. What boggles my mind is the poor wireless carplay connection. It’s not that it’s so terrible but the distance the phone is from the head unit for it to be connected is a short distance. Even with the phone in my pocket it makes the carplay cut out and is especially noticeable with music.

This complaint is based on the stereo being expensive. The cheap Jensen stereo in my Land Cruiser has triple the connection strength at 1/5th price. Aside from carplay, the Jensen does have very limited features though.

That's odd that you have a wireless connection problem on such an expensive headunit. My Joying radio wireless connection is immediate and I only paid about $350 for it.

Going to upgrade to Joying or Dasaita within the month and Joying support suggested this specific unit.

    https://www.joyingauto.com/latest-1...-car-head-unit-navigation-with-8gb-128gb.html

Also see the following note on the listing:
"Joying head units can't support like below: iPod, original car GPS antenna, original car Bluetooth, original car USB, and original car Microphone."

Really want to retain the OEM GPS antenna, USB/aux plug and Mic. And no Bluetooth connection??? There isn't a Bluetooth connection?

I had never heard of the joying unit but it looks good. I like that you can change the color on the buttons from what the site says. Do you have the obd option? I wonder what that is

That’s nuts, especially for the price like you said. It looks great though, aesthetically speaking

Apparently you can buy a dongle from them to communicate to the truck to display tpms and other functions. Yes you can change the color of the led to any color and shade. I have mine set to a blue that matches the other lights.

Mine uses the factory mic and steering controls. Bluetooth is done through the head unit without issue and the factory USB is connected to the headunit and works without issue.

My headunit came with a GPS antenna that attaches under the dash and works without issue.

That's good, figured it would be ok, but their note says otherwise.

I just found another variant called Idoing. Looks ldentical to Joying but less expensive. So the waters get muddier the more I Google... Only difference I saw with Idoing, no optical out, like Joying and Dasaita. Not using it now, but be nice to have, just in case

Upon further review, it does have optical out...

The one you linked to is the one I have. The reason I chose the Joying even though it wasn't the cheapest headunit was there customer support which is very good. I didn't want to buy something without customer support. Nothing is perfect and some of the negatives were that it's tough to get a perfect fit. You can seperate the display from the radio and mount the radio first then mount the display. The display then connects to the radio with a computer ribbon. I had a small gap between the display and HVAC controls that I filled in with a small rubber spacer. Also some of the display icons are Chinese weird. Notice the nav icon has a paper plane on it. When you go into setting some of the wording is a bit puzzling untill you figure it out. Other than those thing it works well. You can use a sim card if you want data for navigation or make you phone a hotspot. If you want more pictures of the headunit let me know and I'll run out to the truck.

100%. One of the most factory looking stereos you can put in this model. Well worth the small quirk. I just put my phone in that small cup holder under the hvac controls

Im down to selecting either Dasaita or Joying. They both have basically the same specs and claim to have A12 or A13 running.
Will check that out once i get it, using the AIDA64 app. (tell you whats version of Android is really installed)

I just need to decide if I want a flush mount or something that sticks out away from the dash.
If i get the larger screen, i can get the metra frame that matches our trim, or not.

Joying is a little over $100+ less than Dasaita.

    Decisions, Decisions !!!!

    @Ruggybuggy-

Did you use the mounting brackets from the oem head unit to secure your Joying?

I used the brackets off the stockradio then installed it. This sets the radio back into the dash. The display can be removed and installed separately. The picture show four mounts that the display sits on. I removed these so I could mount the display. You have to be creative when mounting and it is slightly challenging.

I bought one for my tundra on ebay two months ago, it looks pretty nice.
It seems that the seller launched a 4GB ram unit, if any of my clients ask for it, I would sure give it a try.

I had one of those units. It was surprisingly good. There was a sound issue that was fixed with a wiring harness modification that the company helped with. Carplay and android auto worked well. The only thing I disliked was there wasn't enough ram. Do you have a link to the one with 4Gs of ram?

Some of them got the sound issue, just change the CAN BUS settings to get it fixed.
I found one of their 4GB Ram unit, here is the link,

The fix for the one that I had was to cut one wire on the harness and move it to another location. Nothing was mentioned about a canbus setting.

    BTW thanks for the link.

Your car is with JBL amp, right? Then AMP control wire should be connected to make sound work.

No sir, don’t have the JBL. When I get a chance I’ll find the pic for the modification.
