Upgrade orig factory head unit to new factory head unit

I bought a kenwood hu with nav for my 19....far superior in every way. Sound upgrade incredible....can even watch netflix on a firestick. All functions work on the screen.

 

@Krisgo316 - I just did this and it’s works okay. Music cuts out every few minutes so I ordered the wireless CarPlay adapter and hoping that fixes the issue.

just curious - did you get XM, wifi or any of the entune functions to work? Any tips are appreciated as I’m two days in and still figuring it out.

 

Any chance you can share part numbers? Overall was it worth it? Does everything work and work well?

 

Sorry I just saw this. XM radio works and everything is still going just like it was made for my 2015. It was worth it to me. They are probably way better radios out there but I wanted to stick with factory upgrades. I love the apple CarPlay feature which is really what sparked me to buy this.

 

I have a 2021 OEM Tundra CarPlay unit in my 2019 Tundra. Got the harness from Autoharnesshouse. Works like I want it to. It really depends on what you are going after. I simply wanted the bigger screen and CarPlay and it works well for those two things.
You can add a Carlinkit or something similar and make your CarPlay wireless and your set.

 

Any chance you can share part numbers of the JBL head unit and the JBL amp? Perhaps even the harness?

 

For anyone wanting to do the Entune 2.0 to 3.0 upgrade (no need to chime in that aftermarket units are better value - fine - but after selling the old, came out under $400), I purchased the following from FB marketplace:
-20/21 TOYOTA TUNDRA JBL AMPLIFIER - PN# 86280-0C230
-20/21 TOYOTA TUNDRA JBL HEAD UNIT - PN# 86140-0C420

The installation was easy, and everything works perfect. Great upgrade if you can get the required parts at a good price.

 

Looking to do the Entune 3.0 swap for my 2014’ 1794 Tundra. Besides the increase in screen size, any improvement on the resolution ? Currently running carabc harness and the resolution is terrible

 

I really did not notice, but I would say it is the same resolution.

@cdavi060 , how did you come to PN# 86280-0C230 being the right amp? Would other amps like PN# 86280-0C210 work?

 

I went with the 86280-0C230 because it is the 2020+ Tundra JBL amplifier. 86280-0C210 appears to be for the 2014-2019 Sequoia and likely non-JBL.

 

I did this this afternoon...I'm happy with the outcome. Android Auto modernizes the entire experience...the sound is the same, tho.

 

I just installed this tonight. Thrilled with the results. I have the JTR JBL amp upgrade with sub and speakers and it sounds great. Actually seems a little louder.

 

I replaced my 2018 non JBL with a 21 non JBL with nav. I ordered this harness https://www.autoharnesshouse.com/entune.html.
If you get a 2021 non JBL with nav it will be plug and play and you won't lose any functionality aside from no CD player.
The swap took me about 20 minutes with the plug and play harness.

I actually used the CD player. IMO the sound quality is a little better than streaming or satellite radio. Maybe a USB CD Player.

 

Having a CD player is way better than car play.
