Upgrade DC to CM center console for rear AC vents

I looked at mine and compared it to a box my buddy took out of his CM and they both looked the same

 

So for $300 bucks Toyota could have put rear AC in the Double Cabs.....

 

They could've also kept driver side grab handles...

 

And the reliable 5.7L motor.

Parts ordered from Jacksonville. I will create a how to when I receive the parts and get started on it. Finally a mod that the boss approves of lol.

Cause if all that works out with those parts I'm defiantly ordering them and doing it!!! But what happens to the cup holders, guess you would loose them huh!?

I use my cup holders and my kiddo is the only one who rides back there- he never complains about the temp. Still be nice to know if this works out for ya

It just stinks there is no door cup holders on a Double Cab......

 

Yes you loose the cupholders since the whole panel is replaced. I don't use them. With the crappy roads and potholes here, it doesn't take much to bounce a cup right out of it.

 

The rear door panels from the 07-13 will fit the 2.5 gens. Someone on here has swapped them. I'll see if I can find that post.

So I just got an update. They canceled the order because the duct is on national backorder. They said that I had to place a new order without the duct. No the waiting begins. It could be a while unless I find a duct somewhere.

EDIT.....Just called another dealer and he said the system is showing limited availability but 1 is expected in on Saturday to the warehouse so its ordered in my name now.

 

Of course, still Covid problems 3 years later......

Ducting is pretty generic. I bet you could find similar in a hardware store or swimming pool shop, AC parts supply....

 

Wonder how the air flow is? Mine up front is pretty weak to start with.

 

I'll post that as well once I get the parts and installation done.

Food for thought, you outa check out your cabin air filter in the glovebox! Might need a new one! I have a K&N cleanable one in mine and I clean it every 5k when I do my oil changes and after 5k it's pretty dirty.....

 

I did check and cleaned it out. Think the blower is weak.

 

It’s also SUPER thin. I got lucky and snagged mine off of eBay because of the “shortage”.

 

My dealer said that SE Toyota shows 1 available. He ordered it for me but will have a better status tomorrow.
