What kind of prices are you guys finding? Saw a '19 SR5 TRD (not sure WHICH but it had LED headlights and taillights and upgraded rims) with roughly 40K miles and listed at $41K. Next to it was a plain Jane SR5, 20K miles, for $43K.

Update: seeing '20's, SR5 with TRD Sport, were at $45. Though not GREAT, at least pricing seems to becoming a LITTLE more normal. Seems vehicle I saw WAS a TRD Sport.

some of the features I like on my 2020 sport are. Auto climate control, push button start, larger screen, cruise control. Besides that stuff the 2015 was the same. I went sport for the paint match bumpers, mirrors. And actually the trd sway bars makes a difference in street driving and towing. The stock suspension on the sport was actually pretty good on the street. But I changed it out anyways for fox 2.5 coilovers. But my favorite is the auto climate control. It was always hard to get a good temperature with the knobs, now I just select a temp and it does what it does to maintain that temp.

Oh and get one with the 38 gallon tank! You won’t have to stop at gas stations so often. Especially if you tow things with your tundra.

Regarding radar cruise and the brakes…not quite slammed, but a faster deceleration than necessary. Overly cautious, which I guess would be the side to err on. But it kills your fuel economy. So much easier and smoother to drive your truck yourself, slow down gently as needed, change lanes, etc…

Dual climate wasn’t a selling point for me, but now that my wife keeps her side 8-10ºF warmer, I appreciate it.

TRD Off Road package comes with TRD headlights but standard fogs. The Pro comes with rectangular Rigid fogs.

My ‘21 SR5 is push start. I also do not have BSM or parking sensors in my bumpers. As someone who enjoys driving and does not enjoy things blinking and flashing at him, this is a good thing.

If you want a 6th seat (the only feature I wish mine had), you have to get a base SR5 with no upgrade package, which would have a column shift and the smaller fuel tank. In hindsight, I would rather have found one of these trucks and added a larger tank myself. Converting to a front bench and column shift has proven to be too much for anyone who has inquired about it or started the conversion.

My last 2 have been Limiteds, and I wouldn't go back. The automatic dual zone climate control really is nice. I also am a big fan of the radar cruise control, but as you can tell, that's going to depend on the individual. The one thing I did differently this time was get the TRD Off Road package. Gave me the 18" wheels and blacked out trim LED headlights and in my mind, better suspension. The basic suspension in the non TRD is almost more car like if that makes any sense. The LED headlights are worth their weight in gold. And the fact that they are adjustable is even better. I tow a lot, so I do adjust them at night depending on whether or not I'm towing. I know the aftermarket Katzkins are popular, and if I ever need to replace the leather seats in mine would probably upgrade, but I've been happy with the seats in both of my Limiteds. I've taken plenty of long trips in them and was always plenty comfortable and never felt fatigued because of the seats. There is a lot of bling on the Limited, but that doesn't bother me at all, again everyone has their own preference.

This makes me wonder how much difference there truly is between an SR5 and a Limited if they both have the TRD Off Road package. I’m guessing it’s very little. The only thing it sounds like my truck doesn’t have that yours does is leather seats, seat heaters, BSM, parking sensors, and maybe a sunroof. And the different grille of course.

Saw a '19 Sport vs regular...seems like I need to hold out for that, as I like most of those features you mentioned! Want LED lights, spray-in bed liner, sway bar, larger screen, Android Auto, etc.

There are a few other odds and ends on the limited, navigation, leather wrapped steering wheel which i like. You can get an SR5 with most of the same stuff, but it's included in packages.

Recently rented a Chrysler mini-van, doing what ended up being a 3000+ mile road trip. The vehicle LITERALLY would brake so hard, the seat belt would lock up... In the future, hopefully it will mature to something much better but I agree, that for now, much easier for driver to feather the gas/brake if better gas mileage desired.
Yeah, sadly mine is because of teenager who rides...likes it hot, when I want it cold. Not a deal breaker and definitely not worth buying a Limited just for that.
I think I am leaning towards the Sport. Do like the Rigid lights but not enough selling points on the Pro, for me to go that route.
My Accord has an actual camera in the passenger mirror. SOOOO much nicer than the silly BSM. And parking sensors, with back-up camera, seems like a waste... Do like the push to start. Wish one could truly a la carte desired options.
It is TYPICALLY just the dog and I, possibly teenage son. I usually have leashes, e-collars, and other stuff, so console makes sense, for me. And I do like the bigger tank, since I plan to be towing again, soon. Thanks for helping me decide, though!

Struggling to figure out the packages...not wanting the bling and it seems like MOST of the stuff I would want is available on the TRD Sport. Feels like I am going to Baskin Robbins but they only have labels on 20 of the containers...

Found a brochure for '20 Tundra...and YouTube video showing guy swapping steering wheel out. So the ONLY thing I was not fond of, on the SR5, hopefully can now be changed out.

So how do I figure out what packages are installed on vehicles I am looking at?

You’d have to look at the original window sticker, I think, or look up the VIN.

I did install the Katzkins myself.

I don’t think the trans cooler installation is “easy”, or cheap, but hey- I didn’t have to even try. My brother in law had a ‘19 and he paid $5500 early on to have one put in at the dealership.

Personally - if limited to 45k max to spend

    2018-19 SR5 - whatever I can acquire for 40k

5k budget for suspension setup and exhaust swap to a Dirty Deeds.

Bonus if I could get to 38k and upgrade the radio/sound system too.

    Just me though - ymmv

No difference in a 2018-2021 - just miles/age and that 3 years isn’t a big deal - under 30k miles is negligible wear too - so take savings over lesser age/use. Obviously a 2021 with low miles is better than a 2018 with 100k miles priced 1500 less - but all other factors being equal take older and savings I think. 45k is a healthy budget and leaves plenty of room for customization and making it what you want. Can always add leather too to a SR5 via Katskins.

I think it was either 19' or 20'. I just remember at the time my options were either a used 17' for $35k or new 20' for about $42k. Both trucks were nearly identical in options and I knew I would want it for atleast 10yrs I decided a new truck was the best deal for me. Plus it had carplay, lol.

45K is just the vehicle, but that is out the door (figuring $42K max, list price). Have extra monies around for "upgrades", such as exhaust, tint, head/fog/taillights, Katzkins, and roller. Leaning towards a 20 Pro Sport, which will also limit things I will need to upgrade later, especially right away.

Still looking but did see a '19 Sport with 35K miles and list of $42.

My original goal was to pay this vehicle off in 3 months but that capped my budget at $25. Those numbers had me looking at 2009-2014 Tahoe/Yukon and found a few I liked but nothing I truly wanted to pull the trigger on. Could have gotten a '12 Sequoia but just no love from me (would rather had an '05-06 Yukon Denali but impossible to find, clean and not $20K). Bumped budget to $35 and figured I would just pull some out of savings, same time line. Creature comforts are getting me, this time...SHOULD have been fine with a '14, but wanted bigger gas tank. Should have been fine with a '16-17 but likeTSS and the instrument cluster on '18. Should have been fine with that but like push to start, Android Auto, LED headlights, and some of the TRD stuff.

Many of the packages are regional and some change over time.

If you’re interested in a particular truck, you could look the VIN up on Toyota and see how it was equipped, I think.

OCD freaks like me will have the sticker in a file with all the purchase docs. ;)

Here’s mine. Notice, it has the SR5 upgrade package, the TRD Offroad package, and the Owners Pref Portfolio (whatever the hell that is).

For 2018, LED lights were added to Offroad upgrade. So for 18, you’d expect that package to add LEDs.

I looked but it does not give specs, such as TRD Sport/Off Road, SR5 upgrade, etc.
As much as I would like a '20-'21, with dual climate, push to start, etc., it is definitely not a deal breaker, especially with them running $48K+. Need to figure the differences between an '18 and '20 TRD OffRoad and then begin the hunt.

Looking at a couple of 2018's, just to see if they have everything I want/need.
Before I head out, though, couple of similarity/differences:
One has 65K, one has 75K mileage, similarly priced. Both TRD Off-road. Maintenance records have about the same info. Both Florida cars (state I reside in). Slightly cheaper, lower mileaged one was at a dealership I tried to buy a used Escalade from earlier in the year and deal went S...but willing to try it again.

    Things I am pondering:
One has bedliner, one has spray in. Ripping bedliner out and spraying but have read bedliners can cause rust, if wet underneath. How do you check this, prior to purchasing?

One is a FFV, one is not. How important is this in your decision making? If I was buying a GM product, it ABSOLUTELY would...could I tune it out, would be 1st question.

Steprails/rollers: how easy/cheap to replace/install? One has a "better" but still wanting to upgrade. But if I go with the better, it at least buys me some time to get others things done 1st.

Both within a reasonable distance of each other so going to check both out. Then going to look at a '20-'21 to see how much of an improvement the bells and whistles are...and are they worth $10K+. Things I would be most factored by: push to start, keyless door handles, and lower mileage. Not married and sometimes dual climate control can be more of a hassle, especially if there are temperature extremes between 2 front seats. Can get Android Auto/Carplay by changing out the head unit and have what seems to be little, to no, loss of functionality.

There are lots of FFV Tundras without issue. Just run good 87 in 'em instead of the crap they're "flexible" for.

Drop-in bedliners are gross. I'd want to see underneath it, even thought the trucks are only a few years old.

I don't have my manual in front of me, but at 65k and 75k, there should be some bigger maintenance items that should have been performed recently.

All other things being roughly equal, if one is non-FFV and has the spray-in liner, that's what I'd probably go with.

You might do some research, but it seems like there was an issue with the flex fuel pumps that effected 2018. You might confirm that if so, the recall replacement was performed.

65k vs 75k is just not significant on these trucks in terms of mileage.

I hate plastic bed liners too. I’d want to see if there is any rust under there, and get under the truck and look up at the underside of the bed also, just to be safe.

If the plastic liner scratched the finish, it’s still ok- the paint needs to all be scuffed in order to install spray in liner anyway. You just want to avoid anything with rust, or any bubbled paint, which would indicate metal rusting under the finish.

It'a funny because I have heard a few GM owners, with vehicles needing Premium, say flex fuel does almost as well. My current Tahoe has it and at 145K miles, no problem. I normally run Costco gas, which supposedly is pretty decent.
How do you get underneath it, at the dealership?
The difference with going to a 30-40K mile vehicle, 2018-2020, is $9-10K. Definitely will double check the manual and see if any records showing maintenance being completed. But with $10K difference, and not completed, am I thinking improperly that this still sounds like a better deal? That said, not sure the cost of the said repairs, either.
Unfortunately, drop-in liner has no accidents, slightly lower mileage, non-FFV, and $300 cheaper.

Will double check for recalls while at the dealership, especially before pulling the trigger. Wish they would mandate recalls being completed before selling the vehicle. Apparently, it is ALSO OK to sell a vehicle with broken windshield...
Thoughts of looking under the bedliner before purchasing? The vehicle I am favoring has the drop-in and honestly, about the ONLY thing holding me back from going to see it...besides being almost 80 miles away, it is extremely hot out, and I just got home from vacation yesterday.

    You sound busy!

You could have them take a pic of under the liner. If they are unwilling to, I’d be a little hesitant. Also looks like it got detailed “late on a Friday” if you know what I mean…

I like the adaptive cruise control, it will slow you down and follow the speed of the car in front. but once you change lane the truck will down shift punch it til it get to ur set speed, it's ok when you on long trip and just want to pass a semi, but when there're cars pulling in and out in front of your truck it will brake and acc like crazy.

OK, so down to just a few and going out today, to look.

Both are 2018, TRD Off Road.
75k miles, SR5, asking $35K, sold at Chevy dealership

39K, Limited, asking $43K, Toyota certified
Things I noticed over the SR5: dual climate control, parking assist, leather, sunroof, after market rims, JBL stereo, glass breakage sensor

Happy with the SR5, limited adds a few bonuses. Either color works and budget is fine. Worth spending the extra $8K for certified Limited? Or go with a certified SR5?

The certified is nice. 12k-1yr from purchase of platinum warranty. Power train to 100k (or 7 years from initial service date whichever is first - so 3 more years probably in this case unless you’re gonna put 20k+ a year on it).

I like lower mileage just as a mental thing unless previous accident etc. just feels like old man owned it and babied it. High mileage gives me rental/fleet vibes. Again just my opinion
