We are supposed to leave for Idaho/Montana tomorrow. I stopped in at the dealer at 8:30pm as they were trying to have the truck done today.

    :(:(

Started with no air to the floor vents, turns out the shaft that rotated the door snapped. Total replacement.:bananadead::bananadead:

Happened to me too. When I went to floor the face vents stayed on. It was likely that way since it came from the factory but it still passed the tests somehow.

It was a big job but my local dealer did well. Zero squeaks and rattles.

They were hoping 1 day. Tomorrow is day 2, and they updated to say tomorrow. Let's hope as the trailer is packed and ready to go.

Thanks. I am out of warrant and hoping for the best.

I think they had my truck for three days. But I specifically asked them to take their time and milk Toyota for every dollar of warranty work.

ive done them on these trucks before.. looks way scarier than it really is. never had a squeak afterwards too usually takes 2 days. 1 if i have the full day. Dealers usually give these to guys they know are good at it. because they dont want to deal with rattles and squeaks for the rest of the life of the vehicle

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
Toyo needs to Think Ahead just a bit more to ease these somewhat common repairs of a/c evaps. I've seen cheap ass chevy's place them under the glove box, easy peasy access.

Most new cars are like this due to safety standards and just the fact that everything dual climate these days and what not.

You should bring them some sound deadening material and have them do the firewall.

Perfect time to add a FRAC harness, or any other add on that requires running wiring thru the firewall to the dash.

Just trying to be positive, sorry about your truck hope its back up and running soon.

I've read (not specifically about this but in general) it also has to do with minimizing the cost of production. So many vehicles with commonly serviced items that require a stupid amount of effort to work on.

Dam that’s crazy. I’ve got the same issue with the vents in my truck, I’ve talked to my service and they said nothing could be done. I guess I need to do some research on it. My hates it in the winter she can’t get her feet warm.

My 2008 has that same issue, it looked like a total pain to replace so I said fuck it and just manually set the gate to the position I wanted for the rest of life. Glad I didn't tear into it, that doesn't look fun.

This exactly why I've not bothered to mention that I always have air flow to the dash vents unless it is set to full defrost. I have zero faith in dealerships around here to fix it correctly and not wind up with a million squeaks and rattles. Your poor dash. :boom:

I am amazed. It was done the next day, prior to the time we were supposed to leave for Montana. We drove overnight, and were able to do this the next day.

    No rattles or squeeks!!

The only thing I have notices is my headlight control doesn't move the headlights up/down anymore. Will have it looked at when I get back to town.

I'd bet money that is the cleanest dash in ANY 2014 Tundra. That tear down would have killed my blood pressure, but I am glad you are out running in it again. More MT pics please!

We were riding out of Bozeman. Did some riding in the Bangtail and Bridger ranges, then rode next to your area out of Hebgen lake. We just skipped up to Clark Fork/Hope Idaho (on the other side of the mountains from Libby, MT).

Unfortunately there isn't such a thing as milking warranty. Warranty pays around 8 hours maybe even less but it doesn't matter if he has it done before he goes to lunch or takes two weeks he's getting 8 hours or so that it pays.

My comment was more intended as an expression of displeasure dipped in passive aggressive revenge to the truck leaving the factory with the issue as opposed to a statement of fact on how dealers get paid.

Warranty time is typically horrible. Only fwd transmission pan gaskets are milkable. But they almost never fail!

    a transmission on a Tacoma is 4hrs.
