I’m a little concerned with the feedback from the leaf packs. I specifically got this kit because of the perception imposed that it will undoubtedly keep my bed level when towing my 4500lb trailer. Now, after this thread I’m concerned with applying the Baja truck look, when I was trying to avoid the sag...

 

I didn’t sag much, Icon specifically told me (after I bought and installed them) that the expansion packs aren’t made to carry a bunch of weight. To me it rides just like the stock leafs do. I towed this FJ about 4.5hrs, didn’t sag much but hell I live on the overload already. I guess what I’m trying to say is these essentially perform like the stock leafs, and if you don’t carry much weight around at all you will get a bit of lift out of them. But like @Icon_Adrian said earlier, their new RXT leaf pack looks pretty promising and has the capability to be swapped around to your liking and needs.

 

We did about 3 months of research before deciding on the Icon stuff. We like that you guys are the only manufacturer who makes the shocks, control arms and springs all together as a unified system designed specifically for the Tundra.

Two of the most important things I have read on this forum. And there is a wealth of knowledge and information. Like you I really the idea of a unified system....decisions, decisions. We will not make Sedona this year, but it is definitely and end goal for 2019.

Just to clarify, at least from my side, I'm only running the enhancement pack not the rxt package. It's not the full replacement Leaf pack it's the three leaf pack that replace is everything except for the main and the overload Leaf if you decide to keep it.

But with that said it would make me really curious how the rxt package leafs hold up...

What are the big differences between the 2.5 pb and the omega rear?

 

The piggyback has a single adjuster that changes the compression damping for the entire stroke of the shock. This is pretty nice.

The omega is a bypass shock that has compression and rebound adjustment for the ride zone (the middle portion of the stroke, between the black bands). This is awesome.

 

So are the 30 settings on one knob or is this 2 knobs?

 

The omega has 30 settings on each knob. Basically every half-turn has a detent, so 15 full turns is the full range from fully open to fully closed. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to tell a difference between open and closed, but there’s a major difference. I can feel the difference even between 2 clicks.

 

Okay here comes a noob question. I just purchased the stage 4 with the uca tube delta joint thing as an extra. I know you can adjust the fronts to 3.0", but can I leave it at 2.5" and add a 1.5-2" spacer in front and like a 1.5-2" block with the leaf making it a total of about 4-4.5" or will my truck explode?

I ran 2 of @Coachbuilder1 shims on top of my Icons for a while set at 2.5”, but it ended up maxing out my toe on the passenger side and I wasn’t able to get it properly aligned without either removing the shims on the passenger side or buying Heim joint upper control arms. I removed the passenger side shims and left the driver side as is and my truck sits level side to side now and my alignment is perfect. Just my experience, you might be able to run 1 shim which is good for 1/2”.

 

I don’t see a smooth body anywhere....???

Also as you get above about 3" lift you need to look at dropping the front dif to reduce the CV angle closer to stock.

A general rule of thumb is if you want 0-3" of lift, go with coilovers.
If you want 4+ inches of lift, go bracket.

Full disclosure: coilovers are generally more capable off road than bracket lifts. I'm sure plenty of guys will flame me and say they wheel their brackets and I'm full of shit, but I'm just making a general statement. I do know, and have wheeled with, guys on bracket lifts who run hard, but even they will tell you they can't run as hard at full speed as a suspension (coilover) lift.

You should never combine Icon Vehicle Dynamics coilovers with additional spacers. The Icon suspension components are designed to maximize performance of your vehicle without compromising or damaging you vehicle. The being said the 07+ Tundra Coilovers will grant you the maximum allowable travel possible within the boundaries of the stock tie rods and CV's. By adding a spacer above the Icon unit will over extend the suspension at full droop and can cause damage. I strongly advise against adding a spacer.

Do the all stages allow for extended travel?

 

Yes sir.
The smaller trucks like Tacoma, 4Runner & FJ's need aftermarket UCA's in order to take advantage of an extended travel shock. The 07+ Tundra platform is neat because you have an Extended travel shock designed into all shock configurations we manufacture. Due to it's size we are able to add travel even with a stock UCA.

 

Do you happen to know how much more travel the 2.0s allow in the rear over stock?
