    Function before sparkle.
As someone who lives at the foot and plays in the mountains, I agree. Nothing beats a twin turbo at elevation.

    1) 1794 — I really dislike the interior.

    2) Truck nuts — thankfully haven’t seen these on this forum. They’re pretty stupid. Your truck is a truck, it does not have or need testicles.

    3) Bro lift / Carolina squat / palatka lean — nope. Just nope.

    4) Tailgate spoilers — might as well install a lowering kit and 24” chrome rims while you’re at it.

    5) Bed steps — I get the functionality, but really dislike the look.

    6) Snorkels — again, I get the functionality if you truly need or use it, but they look ridiculous.

I assuming not many people lift them in your area? It's actually most common on them when they're lifted. The truck comes with plenty of rake from the factory. Most 6" lifts only supply a 4" block for the rear. It is done to help bring the truck to a level position but once everything settles they look like they are sh**ing the bed. Mine only does it when I put any kind of weight in the bed (It really doesn't take much). I will most likely replace my 4" block with a 5". I prefer a little rake over the bull dog look.

I had a 2014 Tacoma and was all over the Tacomaworld forums. I learned on there though that the snorkles aren't so much for water but really more for cleaner air. A lot of the guys going down dusty/sandy roads for recreation or work. or cruising out in sand dunes use them because the air is cleaner up high like that. But again, for a DD, yeah it's a waste.

I think everyone on this 6 page thread can all agree on #3 lol

Mine is also a stubby. It just isn't that lame bullet. I don't love things that manage to drag your attention to them but not because they are interesting. It's just too....Gimmicky. IMO of course.

Only if the skid plate is in the way. (4.7L)

Didn't seem all that hard when I had to pull it for the timing belt job. (4.7L)

The crewmax looks silly, because of the short bed.

Silly no, but maybe a little out of proportion though it may depend on the angle you view it.

    Not enough....
I kind of agree, but I still bought one. After my Dad had a 2007 Ram 2500 MegaCab, I realized how invaluable inside cabin space can be.

That said, I still wish it had a 6.5' bed, and I think it would look proportionally better. I was willing to give up a foot of bed space to stay away from the big 3 even though they have the options for larger cabs with a 6.5' bed.

I use sequential shifting primarily to downshift. I live in a mountainous area and downshift when going downhill rather than use the brakes. I understand that the automatic does a good job, but if I had the option I would have a manual transmission. It's just a matter of preference and what I'm used to.

As a habit I use brakes and usually avoid letting the transmission do the braking unless it's a manual. But if I see it's too steep, I'll try to keep the automatic from upshifting too far. Brakes are less expensive to repair than the transmission.

Locking out the overdrive gears when going through mountainous terrain will save wear on your brakes and transmission at the expense of MPGs. Good thing gas is cheap.

Getting back to shifters, I prefer a column shift on a truck unless it's a manual. The console and shifter on my Tundra wastes a lot of space. The glove boxes, map pockets and all the other cubbies have more that enough storage. I'd rather have a bench seat. You could easily hide a small animal in that huge storage box under the arm rest. :eek2:

My favorite is when people do a lift and put wheels and tires on and complain about gas mileage and road noise. Especially when someone try’s to put a AT on their truck for better mileage... JUST PUT THE DAMN MT ON and get the full capabilities of the tire the gas mileage and road noise is negligible in my opinion and you lose a lot of capability with a At but I understand if people tow or take their truck out once every 3 months but still buy once cry once is how I’m looking at it... if only my dumbass would of taken that advice I would be on a Lt setup right now

Sorry if I misunderstood your first post. I thought you were referring to on purpose Carolina Squat. This is a pic I took in Charleston area. I could drive around and see at least one like this in less than 1 hour, I am happy I have never seen a Tundra like that in person was my only point.

I wish I had a double cab. I like the way the doors look on a crew max that’s about it. Back seats too big beds too small. Had the dc for 10 years and switched to the crew max. Nice having something new though. I switched to a front bench seat too and actually prefer it too so that’s nice

I do not understand how so many are blinded by the small bits of chrome in the interior. I must have super light filtering eyes because not once have I been affected by the sun reflecting off the chrome vent rings or chrome shifter trim. I plan on blacking out the silver trim pieces around the head unit and shifter due to aesthetics but I will be keeping the chrome as is. Just my 2 cents. Keep the change.

Brakes are cheaper than your transmission/engine until you boil the brake fluid and you cannot stop. Growing up in a mountainous area, I learned early on to drop a couple of gears and use your brakes sparingly. Your engine and transmission will be fine. You don't want to be that guy that has to use the runway truck gravel lanes. Very expensive to tow out.

But if you bought a 2WD truck (which is a prerequisite for being slammed) let me ask the most important question... Was it even a truck to begin with? :monocle:

I've seen a lot of them around here and yes, never seen a Tundra thankfully.
I've read it goes back to the Florida mud boggers, they raise the front end to keep mud from building up in front, how this translates to these mall crawlers I don't know.

Challenge it to a race. A simple point A to point B competition, say 5 miles apart. Whoever can move a rick of firewood from point A to point B the fastest wins!
