I know mine has a pop also but it’s only the first 5 ft after it’s put in drive. From I’ve read and from what the dealership told me it’s the abs check.

I'm not sure about their migratory patterns this time of year... however I think it is clear that prior to said "Pop" the swallow was laden, and post hoc facto of said "Pop" the swallow was unladen.

You had a rock stuck in your tire and it flew out and hit the wheel well.

3rd gen Taco’s are known to have a loud pop near the winshield. My ‘18 would do it every once in a while and was loud as hell. Sounded like a huge rock bouncing off of the windshield .

I just had a very similar experience in my 2017Tundra. Windows up and an extremely loud pop sound while doing 50mph (no other vehicles around). Curious if tdn every figured out what it was?

maybe you ran over a water bottle on the road that had the cap still on, done that plenty of times and its loud.

I had that happen one time in my GS350. It was in the roof and I am absolutely convinced that a spot weld popped. It was loud, and I fully expected to find that I had a dent in my roof but thankfully I did not.

Similar thing happened to me a month ago ... heard loud 'pop' inside cab while driving and couldn't figure out what caused it. However, I later inadvertently replicated the sound when my foot slipped off the accelerator pedal while driving. [I'm still getting used to the new truck.] The recoil sound from the pedal was very loud and it sounded exactly like the 'pop' sound from before. I am hopeful this is also what happened to the OP.

Went to wash 2020 Tundra tonight Sprayed it and timer ran out. Was talking to guy outside the bay and I hear a loud POP! and my lights blinked. almost as if something popped inside it or something hit the truck. when I started it I got a yellow light and it said "Turn Power Off". I turned truck off and looked around it then looked under hood not able to find anything abnormal. I then start it and everything is fine. I still can't figure what could have happened.

Did you wash under the hood? Maybe water got into something electrical.

Any chance the noise was just the door lock actuators?

If you have push-button start, spraying the door handles with the fob on your person makes some neat things happen. Like repeated locking / unlocking.

I could see a rogue water drop running down doing the same, if you were standing there with your fob in your pocket.

No did not wash under the hood but did spray underneath the vehicle. I have no Idea what it could have been but it was so loud you could hear it in the metal of the truck and the lights flashed. Mysterious but concerning.

Agree. Also check the paint above the windshield along the roofline. I’ve taken some hits there that sounded like you described.

I was driving and heard one of those. I thought someone had thrown something and it landed on the roof. Or maybe a squirrel tossed something as I drove under a tree at the time. It was loud and I looked for a mark on the cab top when I got home but found nothing!

This actually happened to me on I5. The birds crap hit my windshield with a rock in it and cracked my windshield.

    Airbag inflator failure?

I’d think this would throw codes at best, and shrapnel at worst, but I don’t know.

I had loud bangs from my tundra a few times. But it was while driving under walnut trees in the fall. When one drops (being timed perfectly) and hits the top of the truck, it scares the crap out of ya.
