So I was cutting out the back to fit my underseat storage and found this. It wasn’t on my ‘16. Any clue what this is for?

It is related to the remote lock/unlock but I'm not sure its for the FOB or the remote connect services. Either way don't damage it .

I would leave it alone. I have the same storage and it doesn't interfere with the installation.

I just spoke to the guy at ESP, and it is the sensor for the wireless key and unlocking the doors. The new box he said is shallower to fit over this piece.

Yes. It states this on their site. I must have the upgraded storage as I've had no issues with the storage laying flat.

So we got it up, which was a complete bitch cause we couldnt see exactly what we were dealing with. We then tunneled out the back side and tucked it under there out of the way. Fit the storage unit in and tested all the keyless stuff. Everything is fine now.

Just curious but do you have to take that box out to clean or empty your floor mats every time they need to be cleaned
