I didn’t take pictures as I did it, but here it is. I also put the cell booster in there.

2-3”. It was enough space to our a Pelican 1170 under the seat. It sticks up about an inch. I just lay my Husky floor liner over it.

Installed the ESP longbox, and rather disappointed.

Install is pretty straightforward, but if slightly off, then the box sits proud of the carpet and causes problems locking the seats back in place. So then you have to play with it until it either magically works, or somehow space the seats higher. Definitely not ideal.

For those making this change, can you explain what the floor thickness looks like. In the pictures, it looks like there is 2-4 inches of wasted space beneath the seats based on the pictures? You are cutting through the carpet and then at least 2 inches of insulation? Exactly how deep are you able to carve out to add these changes? 2 inches, 4 inches? More? Just to be sure, you are not cutting through any sheet metal? Correct? I've never liked the step in the rear seat for a CrewMax. I'm surprised there is that much space below the carpets to cut out and fill with various containers. Is it really that simple? Is there anything you have to move out of the way? Thanks.

There is no cutting of ANY sheet metal whatsoever. The cutting of the foam insulation is approx four inches. Yes it is really this simple.

For all intents and purposes, the foam can be purchased separately from the stealership to reverse this mod. However, the carpet would have to be patched in, replaced or just covered up with those slick looking floor liners that cover the whole under seat area.

My son gladly helped cut out the foam and complete the vacuuming duties.

OK, great. Those pictures help a bunch. I'm amazed they didn't try to use the space with some factory option. Looks like you have some great help. Way to teach them while they are young!

Yes, I agree with you on that there definitely could have been some sort of option from the factory. Every one of my mods, that have been done so far, have included some awesome helpers or um child laborers, per @AzureNightmare. :smack:

I have not. I haven't been able to get the shop time. They've been hit pretty hard with the plague, unfortunately.

I'm new to the Tundra world, so I'm a little confused about this. I have under rear seat storage from the factory. I'm guessing that this is not on all trim levels then?

That is standard on Double Cabs. Crewmax does not have under seat storage regardless of trim.

That makes sense then, thank you. I find it odd that the bigger cab is the one that doesn't offer it.

You're not the only one! You guys get under seat storage and we get roll down rear windows. :notsure: The bigger surprise for me is that over the years it wasn't added. Still, the ESP options are a solution that most are ok with.

I think we are all amazed that Toyota would install thick slabs of styrofoam under that seat instead of a simple storage insert, especially in a CrewMax.

This was among my first mods and one of the most practical.

ESP provides two new seat supports to accommodate the long box. You have to pop out your seats and the old brackets. That's also part of why the long box is as expensive as it is.

I was a little too slow with searching for a pic... however, my arch-nemesis or um, I mean friend, Adam @AzureNightmare already beat me to the punch and provided you the info. Here are a few pics anyway... you can barely see the flat, replacement seat rails...

Just one, and I probably should direct this to the production guys, which is... vehicles with a push button start have a sensor in the cut out area so do these long box units have adaptive spacing for this sensor?
